    Very nicely done video. Really shows the difference between these three compressors.

    I’m a Barber Electronics devotee. I use his v2 LTD, Silver LTD, AND his newer Gain Changer for all my gain stacking… AND now I have included Barbers Tone Press compressor.
    I absolutely swear by Dave Barbers stuff!

    Great Demo of 3 Top-tier compressor pedals. I am currently in the market for a Compressor and I will say: I own a Diamond Tremolo and it is absolutely fantastic. I thought the Diamond in this video, made the guitar Sound the Biggest & Punchiest. The only other compressor pedals, I have looked at: Wampler Ego (large), Keeley Pro and Bondi 2026. Enjoyed the Video and information.

    Thanks for posting! Very clear explanation! Loved the Diamond! I have an MXR Script Reissue Handwired I bought to emulate Andy Summers and John McGeoch, but I find that it takes away a bit too much off the low notes. Then, years ago I saw a video comparing regular compressors with optical and I felt that the latter types are more what I'm looking for.

    Love the explanations here - I've been running my amps hard on master volume and that's why I haven't felt need to have a compressor but perfect to understand better that it's helpful in scenarios where that is not possible.

    The Cali76 @ 4:15 is soooo sweet and so is the Keeley Compressor Pro.(Not on this video.) I'm a musician, not representative of any company. I have used many compressors in my experiences and the two I mentioned are the only ones that offer studio grade compression, or rack mount type compression in a pedal/stomp-box format, that I have ever used. I'm just hoping to save someone some time and a few headaches.
    Keeley's bassist compressor is also excellent, but formatted for low frequencies. All the others I have tried don't compress to a complete "squash" of the frequencies and then offer enough headroom or make-up gain to compensate WITHOUT DISTORTING! Keeley and Cali76 can, which simply means that you can use nearly any frequency, i.e; keyboard, microphone, bass, guitar and easily find the correct amount of compression for that application. Again, just my experience and my opinion only..... Also, I have found that the Keeley compressor is the easiest to dial in. Hopes this helps someone with their decision.

      The Diamond kills the Kelley. You must try. ;)

    • @Xn4W
      @Xn4W 4 года назад +2

      I have both the Keeley Compressor Plus and the Diamond Compressor Jr. and I can say the Diamond destroys the Keeley in almost every way. The Keeley is just a glorified clone of the Ross/Dyna comp FET circuits along with hundreds of other clones that sound all similar to the Keeley, so it's nothing special. If I wanted a Ross/Dyna comp FET based compressor, I'd go for the Wampler Ego. The Diamond, on the other hand, is an optical compressor with the most simple controls ever(tilt EQ, volume, and comp) and it's way quieter and brighter than the Keeley, which seems to have a rolled off high-end, even though it's slightly more transparent than the Diamond thanks to the Blend knob(the only benefit over the Diamond). But the Diamond's ease of use(turn it on and leave it) that let's you focus on playing rather than tweaking, way less noise floor(better for single coils and overdriven tones), and WAY better EQ from the ease of tilting and no low/high end loss. Being optical, you can also see how much compression is being applied from the little LED light from the Diamond, which is still some metering, even though it's not the best metering. I am definitely buying a Cali76 Stacked Edition compressor next and hoping my search for a compressor would be finished.
