    You know what Gemma,yesterday my daughter was told to write about her idol in school.And guess what she wrote,Gemma Stafford is my idol.She gives me inspiration to bake.When I grow up I will also be a great baker like her.This was what she wrote in her comprehension.I never thought that my 10 year old daughter would write about you as her idol.Please do pray for her.Love from Germany

    I believe that the donut series are one of the top series in Bigger bolder baking,for that there are so many related videoes,such as no-knead donuts.
    This recipe is so unique and innovated,the cakey texture just adds up so much flavor to donuts.Thank you Gemma.

    My mom shared a 100 year old recipe for donuts, and its identical to your instructions, excepting our dough requires a bit of a new chill in the fridge. They are my dad's favorite donut. 😊

    What an awesome recipe! I love donuts and relished the American Style Crunchy donuts!! I garnaished 'em with some sprinklers and syrups and had a tasteful day!!     Looks scrumptious! Is this yeast-free dough exclusively for ring donuts and donut holes, or is it possible to make it into jam-filled donuts as well?

    I just tried the donuts today. Omg 😍😱...hands done the best Donuts I have ever made!! The donuts came out crisp on the outside with melt in mouth, cake'ish flavour inside! Cinnamon and Nutmeg leave such a lasting yummilicious taste! Brilliant!!
    My daughter used the small donut holes to make super mini donuts! 😋😋.

    Question: My dough was a little soggy...I added some more dough to help knead and cut it into shapes! Is it supposed to be that way?

    Gemma I'm so sorry I see baking soda and baking powder, i guess its not good read this in the night, but I can't pass when i see you lol,,then should I let it rest before cutting it out ,maybe dough out side could be soft than crispy ,can i use plain flour?

    I literally just made these and they were amazing! I didn't have any cinnamon because the people at home and myself don't really like it. I know, I know. Haha So I replaced it with allspice instead but still came out perfect! They were crispy outside and cakey inside! Whenever I try to do something the first time, I always trust your recipes because I know I could never go wrong with them. If they go wrong, it's most likely because of me, not the recipe. LOL Anyway, thanks for this delicious donut recipe!

    Hey Gemma! I have a pack of coconut flour in my pantry that's been sitting there for a while, since it doesn't contain gluten I'm unsure on when it would be ok to substitute all purpose flour for it given that I've also read it's highly absorbent and could even require more eggs. Any tips you could give me in using this type of flour?

    Sans eggs, this is basically what are called bakes here in Barbados. Ours also doesn't have the hole and the brown sugar is in the mix not on. Still looks the same texture wise. Nice job.

      Hi Julia. You don't need it for the dough. It's optional if you don't want to toss the fried donut in sugar and cinnamon.

    I made these today and they were delicious! The only problem I had was that my dough was very sticky and it was hard to cut out the donut shapes. Is there any way to fix this problem Gemma?

      Add a touch of flour to your dough or rub your cookie cutters with flour to make it easier to cut out. :)

      Moni me too!! My dough was so sticky and i had to had a lot more flour to it. But it was tasty overall it’s just a bit doughy to me.

    The donuts look awesome gemma just like you! I made your homemade baked donut and they were scrumptuous. Though I prefer baked donuts better this looks really good too. Nothing can beat a classic fried donut. Lots of loveeeee.....😘😘😘😘

    Do you have to use buttermilk or can you just use fresh milk .

    Good night, I just love you, I love baking you make it a fun and easy thing to do,the doughnut is crispy out side ,but can I add baking powder or let the dough rest for a while before cutting it out,I want doughnut so long but I'm not good with yeast,I want to try it tomorrow it will be nice for a early reply ,

      It's a sticky dough but it should not be wet. Add a little flour, just enough for it to come together. I hope this helps, Kath.
