    Story 1: OP you are amazing to stand up to your abuser and making him face the consequences of his actions. Please keep speaking with a counsellor as it will help you deal with everything you've been through and hidden. Share with your dad when you're stronger if you want to share.

    I felt that first one, especially the part where you've covered up for years for your partner, because you know that any sane person would tell you to break up if they found out everything going on. Its been 6 months, and I still catch myself mentioning things to our mutuals or my parents, they look shocked, and I go "oh, I never mentioned that part?" Or things that I realize now that I'm out of it, how fucked up it was. Good on you, girl.

      I’m 3.5 years out of it and just now revealing a lot about who he is and what happened. It’s rough. We have a child together and that makes it so complicated.

  • @skystruck236
    @skystruck236 Год назад +7

    Story 1: oh do I relate to this. I left my abusive ex towards the end of last year for good. And the first bit truly is fucking rough. It feels you’re sad because it’s a breakup, and your so damn angry because it was abuse. It’s gonna be a process for you OP. Ride the waves as much as you can, and give yourself plenty of grace to be sad, to miss him, and to hate and be angry with him. But don’t let the hate and anger and sadness control you. You will be thriving. And honestly the hardest part I’m learning is how to accept healthy love. The hardest part is unlearning everything the toxicity and abuse taught you. I’m so flipping proud of you. I know you’re gonna kick ass at life, and I know you’re gonna have the life you deserve. I must say, the guy I have now, is absolutely wonderful and so kind and patient with me. I’m learning so many GOOD things with him and on my own through therapy, I wish nothing but the best for you.

    The girl who’s bf is moving for grad school, I think she’s over thinking it. You do not have to move at the same time. Long distance isn’t the end of the world. Your cat will be fine with your sister for a couple months if necessary, my cat has something analogous to OCD (does repeated compulsive behaviors when stressed/ triggered by something that can be harmful) and she still did just fine staying with family for a few months while I figured things out. Moving can be stressful but it’ll be fine, even if you have to go long distance for a bit until you can move there with him. Just take a bit and breathe.

    • @maewinter1531
      @maewinter1531 Год назад +4

      Even if she has to move back home with her parents for a little bit, it's annoying but the cat can live in her bedroom separate from the dogs for the short period of time. Keeps the cat with her and safe from non-cat-friendly dogs. The annoying bit is living in a bedroom with a litter box, but there are ways around that.

    Wow. Morgan gave the absolute best advice on beating depressive episodes or anxiety. I loved what she had to say so much. It really does help to just get up and take a walk, get your brain out of it. You can do it.

      This is a real therapy technique from DBT called opposite action. It really works AND is hard.

    • @spaceinveda7408
      @spaceinveda7408 Год назад

      @Audrey Meach well, I'm sure it is, but it's also science. We create endorphins in our brains by going on a walk. Instantly, we fire up our brains, and it makes us feel better and takes us out of a funk.
      Forcing yourself to just do what you need to do or 'fake it till you make it' really does work.
      We're in control of our own brains and bodies. We have to do whats best for them and not listen to negative thoughts we may have. It's a choice we all can make, for the most part.

      One of the most simple and practical things a therapist ever said to me was, "Movement is the cure for depression."
      It's so very true! While not always easy to get yourself going it's a must for healing and self-care.

    To the second update: I get wanting to take care of your mom. Alcoholism can be terrible, but especially when you are in an toxic family: TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF FIRST!
    I get how the writer must be feeling, and I am not saying they should get out of there immediatly but you should definetly be your first priority.

    35:31 to this story, my boyfriend and i went long distance after a year. We were on different coasts. Originally i was okay being long distance for a year or so (i was the one with commitment issues) but found myself ready to move after 6 months.
    Now, we’ve just recently celebrated 3 years of being together. Also, he just told me to start looking for rings to give him ideas 🥰 things will workout! Long distance definitely can be an option, especially if it’s a drivable distance!

    I wanted to be a dental hygienist and ended up being a nurse because I got accepted into a nursing school before dental hygiene school. It’s crazy because I was sooo set on it.
    If I had gotten in, I wouldn’t have met my two best friends or worked in an icu and seen that during Covid. I’ve made some very core memories this way that are a huge part of who I am. Nursing also has so many open doors for me I can’t believe I even thought about anything else and spent so much of my life trying to force a route that wasn’t for me 😅
    My advise for people is what will be WILL be! It doesn’t have to be the fairytale in your head!

    Girl, Ride out the lease and then rent month-to-month for 2 months. Most landlords would be open to that if you've been a good tenant.
    That gives your sister a few extra few months to find a place and you & kitty can pack up the car and start a new chapter in your life.

She will use you until her crutch kills her & then you'll be left with nothing but broken pieces. You are 20, you deserve to be young & selfish. Please, at least look into Al-anon so you can find healthy support.

I know how much your naps mean to you so just know if you do decide to have a kid you will not nap for many many years 😂 I am a big nap gal myself and I am struggling lol
