- UPDATE MAY 2018: Dissatisfied with the mix in the video, I adjusted the mix further late last year. This remix is closer to how I imagined it sounding when I recorded it.

Original OST Version: • Doom OST (SC55) - Sign...
Hello everyone!
Surprise, this is another cover for the VGCovers Subreddit, for the February Cover Contest. The theme of the contest is "Final Stage/Last Dungeon", and the criteria for a song to be eligible to be covered for the contest is as follows:
"It includes the last part of a game; NOT including the boss fight!
It could be many things such as the dungeon where the final boss is hiding, the last race of an arcade racing game, the final stage of a platformer game the last fight of a championship in a fighting game etc etc."
If you've watched my other covers, they have all been either in my uncle's studio (my first three covers) or in my bedroom (all the other covers), and for this one I wanted to change up the visuals a bit, so I recorded both the video and the audio for this cover at the car park of my mum and dad's workplace. The sad thing is, since I A: don't have more than two microphones (I had to borrow my uncle's AKG D112) and B: I don't have an interface with more than two channels, I couldn't mic up the whole drum kit, so the drums sound a bit weaker than the sound I got with my electronic drums and the drum samples. However, to get the majority of the kit sound, I also used my uncle's camera, a Sony HDR-MV1, which has two condenser microphones in an X/Y configuration, and that works really well for recording loud sound sources in stereo (like drums).
This is also the first time in over two years that I've brought back out the Octavia pedal that my dad made quite a few years back. It is in fact the same pedal that was used in my cover of the theme song of "The Good, The Bad And The Ugly", and I used it in this cover for the solo, to make it cut through more in the mix.
For guitars, I used the Fender 1982 Stratocaster again, and I used the neck position exclusively in the cover. There are two reasons for this, one is because the Octavia pedal works best when using the neck pickup on the guitar, and the other is for the sustain. If you look closely, and it may also be easier to see in my other covers that feature this guitar, the strings don't line up correctly over the pole pieces of the bridge pickup. The reason for this is because, for whatever reason, the bridge is not the original bridge that came on the guitar, and the spacing of the bridge saddles is meant for a wider neck on a Stratocaster. What this means in terms of sound is that on the high strings, high notes don't sustain very long, even with the fuzz pedal on. However, the strings line up much better on the neck pickup, and that means that the note sustains much longer. In my Ikana Valley metal cover I posted at the end of 2015, I used the neck pickup exclusively in the guitar as well, because I found out then that it had more sustain than using the bridge pickup.
Also, no, I don't have two amplifiers, the amplifier in the lead guitar video clips was recorded in two places, one for the main lead guitar, and one for the harmonising guitar at the end of the song. The editing of the clips required some clever editing to make it look as seamless as possible, because I accidentally bumped the camera in between shots, and my dad accidentally bumped the guitar stand between shots, so the second clip required some skewing to make it look as seamless as possible.

Damn, I think its the best cover of E1M8 around. You're talented !
Thanks!
🤘 From the UK, I concur! Hear hear! 🤘
I keep coming back to this cover, it's just amazing. The atmosphere is incredibly haunting.
In my 36 years alive this is the best cover of one of the best ost tracks ever
Love that Octavia solo at about 3:40 it always reminds me of an angry/upset crying voice!
Amount of great covers for this track makes me so damn happy, its ny favourite doom song ever.
Yo, you kicked ass on this song! ! You looked like David Gilmour with the Floyd shirt on, let's also not forget to mention the strat! Keep up the awesome work.
Thanks! More people seem to be saying that about the David Gilmour comparison ;)
***** Yeah, I noticed. Nothing wrong lookin' like him, he's a mastermind! And to be honest, so are you!
Yeah he's a Spider Mastermind HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ha...ha......ha Is anyone else laughing just me?
Are you fucking kidding me? You literally made a song with a whole band of musical instruments and you're the only player? I thought such a thing was an inachievable myth...
Rock on.
Have you ever heard of Celldweller? he is not a myth, but a legend.
Always cool to hear serious renders of these tracks - they've often got such cool melodies and progressions. Loved the synthscape you set up!
+Soundole VGM Covers Thanks!
I loved the dual-guitar harmony near the end. This tune, like many in the Doom OST have layers, and with that extra little touch it became that much more layered. Keep driving at it, from one multi-instrumentalist to another.
Thanks man!
Brilliant! I can listen to this cover for hours a day and not get tired. This deserves more recognition than it already has. You're a true talent. Keep it up!
Thanks man!
This is probably my favorite video game song of all time, and you performed such a beautiful rendition of it
You guys kick F**king ass. I am 37 now. You brought me back to my childhood. Oh the memories. Oh the sweet memories.
TonyAlbera: Oh the HUMANITY! MY BIG GUN IS OUT OF BULLETS!
(it's a reference to the DOOM comic)
i constantly searching for sing of evil covers, not poped up until now.. good job, nice cover
fucking sick! captured SOE so perfectly. melodic AF. Professional stuff here.
+Sharkcheater Thanks for the feedback!
That Duel guitar is fucking amazing near the end
What a kickass cover of this song, man! I actually just heard the original in DOOM 4 a few nights ago, since I never had the opportunity to play DOOM. Way to capture the spirit of the source material while putting your own gnarly spin on it
Thanks man!
I've been absolutely rocking this song for the past week , thanks :D
+Dan M. Thanks for the feedback!
***** Thank you for the music!
FUCKING LOVE IT MAN! THANKS FOR THE "DOOM METAL"!
+Stephen Snow Thanks for the feedback! :D
ID software: * looks two barons of hell spawning at the same time * I can milk you...
You nailed the feeling so well of marching on in the face of hopelessness and despair. You just made it feel so powerful and for a one man band you were outstanding!
Very nice cover
Now that's a good e1m8 if there ever was one, GREAT job!
Although it sounds painful, sorrowful and hellish it is somehow still beautiful. I just can almost feel what the Doom Slayer felt during his first terryfing battle against the Barons Of Hell and his discovery of the awful truth behind all he was about to endure and go through: HELL ITSELF.
This was amazing. It's the most faithful cover of this song that I've personally heard. Fantastic job.
This is dope man, congrats on this, hope you get bigger, with time it will happen, and i'll stick here to watch that :) i'm learning to play some instruments because i'd like to create stuff like this, and you're one of dudes that makes me want to play more and more :D
+Realistic Human Also you kinda look like David Gilmour hahahaha
+Realistic Human You're not the only person who thinks that ;)
I love the additional score.. its lovely
I love this. Everytime I play the classics I go to this.
Diggin' this dude! Rack up a 'wall of sound' for those rhythm guitars my man and let them roar!
+Paul Farrer Thanks man!
great take on this song
Awesome! Being a Guitar Hero like this, I would almost consider doing a (lossless) audio CD with some kick-ass legendary games compilation...
!!!! Que genial esta fabuloso !!!!
Thanks! (¡Gracias!)
Fantastic. This is the best rendition of this song I've come across. (Excluding the original). Badass, just what I needed. Thanks
Tremendo cover!
That was fantastic.
This is definitely one of my fav DooM remixes on YT :D Keep it up!
Thanks man!
I repeat Waou !!! amazing to see a guy playing all rock instruments. you are a guitar hero. But now you re f***ed because we want to hear complete Doom and Doom 2 ost. Thanks for this work!
Ahah thanks!
Thank you for your nice interpretation! Wonderful!!
Thank you for the kind words!
For me, this is not even an interpretation. This is the song living up to its full potential. Love it!
it's the personal reinterpration, the performance, the atmosphere, the feelings… :-)
Fuck Yes! One of, if not, the best metal covers of this track i have ever heard!!!!
Amazing! Congratulations! You rock!
This is faithful to the original, gets me into the mood to getting some guns and screaming "DIE, CHILDREN OF SATAN!!! YEAH!!!" at anything in my way. That's how I imagine the character that I play as in Classic Doom, a blood knight.
Thanks man! I like it when a cover is faithful to the original while still bringing something new.
Brooooo!! That was awesome you really nailed it!!
I'm no music player, but the thing I love the most about this track is the key/pitch? Is it called that, idk? The sound that goes from high to low, and in my opinion it gives the music a sad effect, like the instruments try to make a sound but are tracked down into hell and they lose the power. I haven't heard many artist who does that, if you play other music with this "turn down power" or experiment with it I would love to hear it :-) I keep hanging around and listens to the things.. - Alex
+Alexander Heise Thanks!
Pitch, not key, you had the proper idea though and that's cool, you'll notice more and more stuff in music :)
And to make the pitch higher like it's crying he's bending the string with his finger
You really deserved more than 30k views for this.
This sick!
That was grandly done.
Thanks!
You've got an amazing amount of talent!
Boopity Doopity Thanks!
wow you play the drums really good in this song i love the song i play the drums too
I can tell this remix was based off the OPL/Soundblaster version of the song, and not the MU80/SC55 version.
I was going a little bit off the 3DO version to be honest, but the Soundblaster version works too ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The best cover so far, better than the original
Another great work of art!
+Mark G Thanks dad!

Love it, legit as fuck
+jovanny ruvalcaba Thanks!
You know Doom.
awesome wow
could you please do the nubu plant battle song from tak
it's like he has a different band t shirt on in every camera shot
Congrats, you found the easter egg lol
in the beginning i think the guitar is a little bit too tame, otherwise good job!
+mitori Well I tend to do covers that have more ambient intros, so that's why it's quite "tame" compared to other forms of metal. Thanks anyways!
Hell ... ¡¡YES!!
Охуенно! Очень круто! - incredibly
right out of hell!!!!
Dat solo, tho O.O \m/
Nice job!
Thanks man! :D
Outf*ckingstanding!!
Thanks! :D

Good job, kid!
Dope 💯✌️
waou !!!
Good Cover
Thanks man!
very nice!
Thanks!
Epic
Mine demon dead after listening this song( You are f"cking awesome man...
Thanks!
So this is why they call it Doom metal
fucking brutal!!
really good, where did you buy that bass thought
+ELectro.Toxik Thanks! I got the bass guitar in this video as a present from a friend of my parents. The only problem is that as it is headless, it needs special strings that have two ball-ends, which aren't always available/as affordable, so I've changed the strings only once on this bass since I've owned it.
oh ok.. do you any suggestion on which is a good bass to get?
+ELectro.Toxik I've heard that the Sterling S.U.B basses are quite good for the money, same goes for the Ibanez Soundgear basses. Many VGM cover artists I've seen use the Ibanez Soundgear basses in their covers, such as FamilyJules7x.
thank You so much
I need tabs for the rift guitar, any idea?
perfect! :DDDDD
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Doom
🌞
I love how you look so metal and have sandals on. Br00tal. I love the cover, man, but as somone who works with recording I could say that the drumms part could use a very hard rework because it sounds without any "push", its sounds kind of meh, which doesn't make due to the mushc and to your cover which is very metal and good. Keep working on it and stay sandals, man.
Thanks! The drums in this cover were recorded with only two microphones (one above the kit and one in front of the kick drum), and also with the camera audio for the drums (another two mics in X/Y configuration in front of the drum kit), and I do agree with you on the sound not being as punchy as I was hoping.
I recorded another cover of a different song (not metal) on the same drum kit, but using a mic in front of the kit, about 2-3 meters in front, and one on the snare drum, and it was inside a large empty building, so it got a huge sound. Here's the link to that video: ruclips.net/video/mxLpZyskN5M/видео.html
It does sounds a lot better, you sure are learning. Dude, you are awesome, really! C.T is a fucking awesome game and so is DooM, you have a very good taste. If you ever need a studio to reherse in Brazil give me a shout out.
🤘 🤘
