  • Last month I picked up three of these Philips Air Purifiers to help out with dog allergies and human hay fever issues. After 3+ weeks of use I feel I can now give my thoughts on if these devices are any good or not.

    Great review, thanks for actually talking about practical use and experience with it instead of just listing off the features! Major hayfever sufferer here, picking mine up today and hopefully will help my symptoms!!

      Certainly helps my son with his hayfever, obviously doesn't eliminate it, but deffo seems to help. When you clean it you see the amount of gunk its stopped you breathing in.

    I bought one of these a few months ago and put it in the bedroom. Has really reduced my snoring which I suspected was due to dust in the air and proved myself right!

    I am so relieved I have watched your video because I have used it for a week without knowing that the filter was in a plastic bag. Would probably have been better to make that clear on the box. It now feels as if it is working ha ha.

    After suffering for weeks from the worst hayfever ever!! Finally have some peace from the runny, itchy eyes and nose! From just half an hour of having this air purifier on in one room! Now I literally carry it to every room in my home 🤣 think I need to invest in a second one

    Could you please tell the direction of airflow? I mean from taking the air from the side holes and releasing to the top or taking the air from top and then releasing from the sides?!

      The air is sucked in from the sides and filter air comes out the top.

    Im getting a red flashing signal on my Philips purifier . Do I need to just clean the filter or completely replace it ?

      Under normal conditions you should just be able to clean the filter and then follow the reset procedure. I have a video for this on the channel also.

    Hello! Do you know if this Is this efficient energy wise? i.e. will it make the bills super expensive? 0 knowledge about this stuff.

      Not really, as maximum power the air filter consumes 20W, so not alot of energy consumption really.

    Hi i recieved mine yesterday. I did turbo for 20 mins as was red. Then i did auto for a few a
    Hours and was left on red. Is this normal. I had it on sleep mode all night and it was purple just now but turning red again when i put it back on auto.

      Its RED as its not happy with the air quality. So just leave it to do its thing, it will turn below when it has filtered the air enough where its located.

      This is NOT a humidifier, its a purifier, it cleans the air as it passes through it.
      It does not add or remove moisture.

    Just bought one.
    I'm suffering with sinusitis and allergies after getting a dog.
    Iv bought this to leave on during the night to sleep better and reduce airborne allergies and pet dander. 🤞

    What is the best mode to select ? What does turbo mode do?

      Turbo mode puts the fan into the high speed mode regardless of any increase in particle detection. I personally leave my in auto all the time, so I can let it adjust as it feels necessary.

    When you take the filter out how do you clean it ? Do you wash it or just tap the dust out ? I am about to press the button and buy . Great vid thanks

      Hi Ian, you just use the vacuum to clean off any dust. This is what Philips recommend.

      Yes it should be on all the time, the level of filtering noise will depend on the mode its in, and the air quality in the room at the time.

    Have you noticed if you have it in a bedroom you wake up with an extremely dry mouth? This has only began since I purchased it a few days ago

      We don't have it in our bedroom, we have used one in my sons room but he has not commented on this.
      Perhaps crack the window a little to allow fresh air in during the night?

      I would say yes, as its helped my kids, but its not super noticeable in every breath you take, its just filtering out the particles in the air.

      It is less effective in sleep mode, as it wont adjust the airflow based on particle detection, but it also means you wont be woken up at 2am if there is a sudden increase in fan speed.

    I am working in an open office area which ir around 3 to 4 bedroom size I would say. Do you think this guy would do any help if I keep him on my desk? I am worried about covid. Technically, this guy should filter out covid particles. What do you think? A wise investment? Thank you!

      Difficult to say really. Like you say it "should" help with Covid particles, but if its on your desk it may be to close to where you are directly breathing.

      Not complete eradication, but certainly reduces dust and other particles in the air.

      Not cold air like an AC, if you put your hand above it you will feel air movement, but its not designed for cooling, its just the air passing through the filters.

    Mine is always red...its been two days...it changes its clr to pink that indicates poor air nd then again it goes to red...
    Why is it happening?

      The particulate sensor is still detecting the air requires purification, so its simply doing its job.
      Either the room you are trying to purify is to large for the unit, or something in the room is generating unclean air that is requiring the air purifier to consistently work.
      My first suggestion would be to gently clean the sensor with an ear bud or similar and see if maybe something just got stuck on it, just be careful as it is fragile.

      I am not a pediatrician but I don't see why it would be unsafe, it just traps microscopic elements in the air, so should only be good for the childs air.

    is this better than levoit core 300?

      I have not personally compared the two, but the Levoit Core 300 seems to have better features (i.e. timers) and potentially a better filter element as it also has carbon to eliminate odours.
      However, no idea how it works in practice, but very happy with the Philips.

      @@davidbinay780 Always reply when I can, its all about building a community. The Levoit looks good so I think you will be happy either way, but certainly no regrets with the Philips, and may actually get some more.

      Nope. It has a fan in it to move the air, but its not a cooling product.

    Doesn’t come with the carbon filter. Better to go Blueair range. £149 hepa and carbon filter in one.

      I tend to leave it in auto, so it adjusts as needed to the dust particles.

    That on/off switch is utterly useless since you can't switch off the powersupply with it. Genius! 🥴🤌

      Not sure I follow, the On / Off switch is at the back of the unit.

      @@SpectrumGeeks Yup, and the powerbrick will continue to provide power up to the power switch. It is the same with any brick you plug in the wall with no device attached. They all consume power non the less.
      So it isn't like with some old TV for instance that had a physical switch that would cut the AC to the power supply of that TV, and stop the power draw from the wall completely.
      To me that is a bad design decision by Philips. It was better to have an internal power supply to which you could cut off power with that physical switch.
      A figure 8 power cable would be enough and easily replaceable with a longer one if you so desired for placement.
