It is very gratifying to see the days, months and years go by, delighting in a poem that has such penetrability. Thank you very much for everything, WONDERFUL STEVIE. I"M BLESSING YOU IN A JESUS NAME. TANK YOU VERY MUCH, SOLDIER. 🕎🕎🕎🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹💥💥. 😮🖐️😘😘😘
This is from an appearance on SOUL! , a live music program on PBS back in the early 70's. I remember it clearly because I sat my little tape recorder close to the television and recorded the entire program. Listened to it many times. I still have the cassette.
In youth, he could sing anything, anyway he wanted to. He's still a brilliant vocalist, but the passage of time has seasoned his voice. This is an excellent example of how flexible his voice was in the day. Also, I have to point out that Stevie has always had gifted background singers. Bless them all for the gifts and talents.
Marvin got it vocally and he made the best r&b album of the 70s, What's going on, and was better than Stevie at his zenith which was the 70s. But, Stevie Wonder is the greatest black male artist living. This is because Stevie has the biggest catalog of quality music over a career. Greatest artist #2 best vocalist
@@keithglenn8897 I would put songs in the key of life a tie with what's going on. Absolute equally amazing albums that spoke to the times, the state of society, humanity and the wonders if this planet
That would be Lani Groves (the one that sung ""You are the apple of my eye, forever you'll stay in my heart" in the first verse of You Are THE SUNSHINE OF MY LIFE), and other songs. He also has had the following work for him: Minnie Riperton, Denise Williams and Deja Gomez.
Mozart, Beethoven, Stevie Wonder. Timeless, geniuses whose music will stand the test of time. Certainly this man is the anointed one of our generation 🙏🎹🎶👍
In all my life, I've never experienced anything of this quality. Never. I've vowed to attend a Stevie concert before he stops performing or goes, even if I have to fly to another city just for it. I would have really enjoyed this. I can feel the spirit in that room. It fits me.
HES ONLY 22 , GOD GIVEN TALENT THAT'S ALL I CAN SAY IN WONDERMENT. BROUGHT TEARS TO EYES IN ADMIRATION. SO PRIVILEGE TO HAVE THESE RECORDING OF THIS GENIUS TO CHERISH.
3:51 - 4:08 Lani Groves from San Diego, CA - she's the female who sung co-lead on 1st chorus of "You Are the Sunshine of My Life" and the very ending of "Blame It on the Sun." First time hearing her belting out the high notes! Wow
Stevie is a musical GOD, I so dig and appreciate him AWAYS. He's survived some of the greats, Marvin, Luther, Teddy, Michael, Whitney, Ella, Sarah,Barry White, Syreeta and he still here to tell the story, but I know that his heart must hurt to have to bury so many of his contemporaries .... enough of that, I'm eternally grateful to have him STILL with us and his geniuns. LOVE THIS MAN!!!
He than had to go to some of the rock record producers producing the doors and arthur lee and love. Imagine S. Wonder producing psychedelic rock and soul.
And if you really love me won't you tell me.. And if you really love me won't you tell me.. And if you really love me won't you tell me.. Then I won't have to be Playing around You call my name Oooh so sweet To make your kiss incomplete When your mood is clear You quickly change your ways Then you say I'm untrue What am I supposed to do Be a fool who sits alone waiting for you But if you really love me won't you tell me.. But if you really love me won't you tell me.. And if you really love me won't you tell me.. Then I won't have to be Playing around I see the light of your smile Calling me all the while You are saying baby It's time to go... First the feeling's alright Then it's gone from sight So I'm taking out this time to say Oh if you really love me won't you tell me.. Oh if you really love me won't you tell me.. And if you really love me won't you tell me.. Then I won't have to be Playing around no Playing around no Hey yeah Goofin' around no Oh baby Playing around no Let me know how you feel baby Hey oh baby Playing around no
70s Stevie is the strongest peak any artist has ever reached (talent wise) in music history.
EL DEBARGE was on his way. Motown killed his creativity. by stopping him from composing and producing HIS music.
Stevie took it to church on this track. GOODNESS!!! This man is annointed. He did the work God put him on this earth to do. Thank you Stevie.
It is very gratifying to see the days, months and years go by, delighting in a poem that has such penetrability.
Thank you very much for everything, WONDERFUL STEVIE.

His vocal strength is mad!!!! Look at his neck muscles. When you sing you sing with your whole being...show dem Stevie

This is the link to the full episode, which aired December 20, 1972: ruclips.net/video/E3a2roYpmzU/видео.htmlsi=p1RrGk6scijO348T
I remember this performance like yesterday ❤😊 bravo!!!!
The vocal improv at the begining is so beautiful and melodic. Also, he's only 22 here!!
So this is 1972
Ced Bigby and the song came out in 1971, so he was either 20 or 21 when he wrote and recorded it. Crazy
jesus christ, what a legend
videos like this make me so grateful to have internet access

No one can touch this guy....... flair, talent, vocals...... and those backing singers are phenomenal too

Stevie Wonder is simply THE G.O.A.T.
Those backing singers can kick any lead singers arses today. They were too damn talented !!! And nobody can touch stevie wonder vocally

No one comes close to Stevie when it comes to heart, soul, and raw emotion done with amazing vocal and musical skill.
Absolutely agree!!!
Ray Charles
Um Donny Hathaway and him are same level
I have never seen an artist as truly unique as Mr Wonder! No one will
Ever be like him
Bruh, when he starts hitting those notes at 0:58, it’s ridiculous how perfect his tone of voice is.
Mozart, Beethoven, Stevie Wonder. Timeless, geniuses whose music will stand the test of time. Certainly this man is the anointed one of our generation 🙏🎹🎶👍

Looking back it's so hard to believe to Barry Gordy didn't want him to have full creative control. We would of missed out on so many great hits!
He than had to go to some of the rock record producers producing the doors and arthur lee and love. Imagine S. Wonder producing psychedelic rock and soul.

And if you really love me won't you tell me..
And if you really love me won't you tell me..
And if you really love me won't you tell me..
Then I won't have to be
Playing around
You call my name
Oooh so sweet
To make your kiss incomplete
When your mood is clear
You quickly change your ways
Then you say I'm untrue
What am I supposed to do
Be a fool who sits alone waiting for you
But if you really love me won't you tell me..
But if you really love me won't you tell me..
And if you really love me won't you tell me..
Then I won't have to be
Playing around
I see the light of your smile
Calling me all the while
You are saying baby
It's time to go...
First the feeling's alright
Then it's gone from sight
So I'm taking out this time to say
Oh if you really love me won't you tell me..
Oh if you really love me won't you tell me..
And if you really love me won't you tell me..
Then I won't have to be
Playing around no
Playing around no
Hey yeah
Goofin' around no
Oh baby
Playing around no
Let me know how you feel baby
Hey oh baby
Playing around no
they look cool doing it too.
The woman singing back
up was his first wife Syreeta Wright.
