Yeaah, a trend that started in the 30 series cause of the 3090/ti but was always overkill for anything less, when you see for example Asus ROG 4080s at 100% load sitting at 62/64 WHILE the fans are barely spinning.
Good luck fitting an RTX 4080 in there lol. Even the Pro-Art from Asus is 2.5 slots. you'd have to go custom loop and custom mounting bracket to fit a 4080 in this reasonably. What a shame.
The clean aesthetic is really unique and fresh, making it perfect for a living room setup. I admire the clever airflow management despite a slightly large size for small form factor PCs.
Exactly. 2 other gripes are: 1) they could have made this a dream for a custom loop with the space to mount a top 180mm rad and, 2) the PSU should be rotated to exhaust upwards to vent out hot air, otherwise it's just causing mass turbulence when the fan is running within the same compartment as the CPU.
@@vailpcs4040 A lot of GPUs, it seems, have issues with being mounted in that orientation. The heat pipes/vapo chambers fail when vertical with the bracket at top
My biggest issue with these vertical ITX cases is all the manufacturers are putting I/O up or down. With a riser cable, there is no reason not to put the I/O to the back like a normal PC. Corsair got this right with the original Corsair One. Flat GPU cables ran to the back of the case putting all the I/O in the easiest to access area.
The problem is that the Corsair One had a very limited selection of GPUs. If you're building a case for compatibility with any GPU, it's impossible to create a single solution for rear facing I/O. Not only is it nearly impossible (and expensive) to support all the combinations of regular Displayport and HDMI, but some GPUs still use mini-display port, some GPUS need USB-C support for VR, and there are even 3050s with DVI ports, to support older monitors. And that's not even mentioning the problems of needing a signal repeater to support most monitor cables due to signal degradation from the cable inside the case. The alternative is to create a simple solution, like 2 Displayport plugs and 2 HDMI plugs, and then sell far fewer cases while engineering a more complicated product. Which is why the case modding community has figured out some solutions to this problem, by using after-market case extension cables and 3d printing to create rear-facing I/O. I just wish more case manufacturers would openly support this type of modding with a removable panel that enabled custom modded panels.
Blocking off unnecessary ventilation areas is a good thing in any case. If there's an open area next to a fan it's going to pull air from there, and if it's an exhaust fan next to a mesh panel, it's just going to recirculate outside air most of the time. It's actually amazing how good PC cooling is in general with how half assed the cooling solutions in anything other than ITX cases are.
@@victorong7907 He's saying ITX cases have good cooling. If you think about it, ITX cases have to have good cooling since there is barely any internal space to get any good air flow. Larger cases can just force more air flow with extra fans or larger fans.
This is not true for this case at all, plenty of reviews have showed the major airflow issues with this case. As you said, 20L is quite big for a sandwich layout, even though the footprint is not that big, but it still pretty tall. We also cannot adjust the center spine for the big GPU. So like, we have too much room on CPU (but not enough for a big GPU). I think it's good for Air-cool build. I wish it has a smaller version, 12-15L that can fit 240mm AIO cooler on the side.
5:50 I'm never able to hear these sound tests, because my pc sounds like a washing machine on drying mode, 2 rooms away (like a reaaaaally quiet hair dryer basically) but thanks for trying 😂
This looks like a nice clean option to recommend to friends looking to build an ITX system for the first time -- it seems easier to work in than a sub-10L. That said, if they only gave it 3-slots for the GPU, a new builder would've basically not have to worry about GPU compatibility while A GOOD AMOUNT of cpu coolers would still be compatible.
Love this case. I've built a few PCs for the living room -- not counting HTPC -- over the years but eventually repurposed them because they looked so ridiculous. Personally, also not a fan of RGB and always turn that off regardless of its intended location. This case checks all of the boxes minus the option for having better flexibility for GPU sizes. The case would fit in nicely between a subwoofer and a set of speakers while also providing useful ports on the front.
I would love to see a 180mm fan from Noctua. They skip from 140mm to 200mm. Just not many 180mm fans, and Fractal now has several cases with 1800m fans. His sweatshirt matches the case, BTW.
I like the looks of this case. But for me the best looking PC cases are really the ones you can see your build inside. Where you can see the parts you have chosen and admiring them regardless of being rgb or not.
this is the case I've literally envisioned in my head for the longest time ever since the nzxt h1 came out. top exhaust fan like an air purifier is super efficient
Great overview of the Mood! I have a question for you! How easy or hard would it be for an intermediate-level modder like me to replace the fabric on that slide-on cover? (I think the black or white fabric color options are actually very boring!) Is the entire slide-on cover made of plastic or are there any metal parts on the cover? Can you please look around inside that slide-on cover and see how the fabric is attached to the cover's frame? Is the fabric is entirely glued to the two solid sides and one perforated side of the cover or are there screws or clips of any kind? Fractal posted a CGI animation of the Mood showing the square top cover capping onto the top as if the cap helps to hold the fabric in place and the top cap might be removable either by removing screws that secure the top cap or using a heat gun to melt adhesive used to glue the top cap to the slide-on cover?
Definitely going to get this case, but not yet. Let Fractal hear these thoughts on what works and what doesn't and let them do a revision. That will be perfect

5:50 I'm never able to hear these sound tests, because my pc sounds like a washing machine on drying mode, 2 rooms away (like a reaaaaally quiet hair dryer basically) but thanks for trying 😂
0:37 what corsair cooler is that ?
Elephantium MX 4 Pro

I’m so glad to see that air cooled and I bet with the new efficiency of the 9000 series could build a pretty efficient workstation in that
love the exhaust at top design. been waiting for something like this.
Let's stop a sec and appreciate the quality of this video
I love how innovative Fractal is
i’m just worried that the fabric might damage overtime like stain or break, i hope the sell replacements
You should have a video showcasing your house aesthetic. I have a feeling you have immaculate taste.
So fun fact, you can fit a 2x120 slim radiator in the GPU compartment (with quick release fittings) to create sick custom loop
the people are graced with another optimum video 🙏
I need the sauce for the hoodie 🙏
I like the looks of this case. But for me the best looking PC cases are really the ones you can see your build inside. Where you can see the parts you have chosen and admiring them regardless of being rgb or not.
Looking forward to your next video, that case looks cool!
From fishtank to speaker ! POG
this is the case I've literally envisioned in my head for the longest time ever since the nzxt h1 came out. top exhaust fan like an air purifier is super efficient
Great overview of the Mood! I have a question for you! How easy or hard would it be for an intermediate-level modder like me to replace the fabric on that slide-on cover? (I think the black or white fabric color options are actually very boring!)
Is the entire slide-on cover made of plastic or are there any metal parts on the cover?
This does indeed have a nice clean aesthetic..I have the Fractal North and it looks awesome in my office. This blends great in a living room, for sure.
hey optimum, since you're basically the apex of both building and using a clean (and practical) setup, I'd love to hear you talk about computer ergonomics and what requirements do you keep in mind with keyboards, desks, screens, chair height etc; based on your videos, it seems like you give it quite the consideration (certainly more than what it is generally given to!)
(also happy to check back on you at 1mil, congrats!! it was quite time)
1:56 place it on the floor and looks like a aircleaner or even a trashbin...Ali you're a smart boy!👍
