Sorry to hear about the break-in. Tubular cam locks are a good choice for compartments. Do not add one to your propane door. We love our remote keyless RV Locks (it comes with keys as well), but we still keep a hidden key outside of the rig in case the batteries die on the RV Locks. Safe travels.

Luke, those locks on the outside hatches are the same lock for all trailers. It's a CH751. I would change those out. It's easy to do but it only keeps honest people honest. I agree with Alysha to change the door lock.

So glad you're enjoying your US Tour so far. Sad to hear though that it got off to a rough start before even leaving Canada. Grateful it wasn't worse and glad that you're all doing okay. Loved this format and really enjoyed the outtakes. Continued safe travels.
Hey David, thanks! US has been a blast so far, and excited that the whole trip should be constantly new areas and vibes to see and enjoy. Such a fun 2022! Thanks for watching 🙂🍁
If your Hitch pin and tongue ball lock is locked, the chains could be used to connect to the thief's tow vehicle bumper to haul away your trailer. need to have the chains laid back towards the trailer battery tray and locked to it, you may have to add some more chain to make that happen so they cannot be used by thieves.
What a crazy idea. I never knew! A little concerning when people live out of them and also just travel with a lot of belongings vs a suitcase or something. We'll be looking into a new one now!🍁
Two other items worry me, one: LA, stay away, two: do you know how to apply the electric trailer brakes separate from the truck brakes, to control trailer sway if it happens?
Make sure to also have a good tongue lock...will help prevent your trailer being stolen. The door lock strike plates, I find, are not secured with long enough screws (RVLock sends a much better strike plate with their door locks, but still have to get longer screws). Our strike plate kept shifting and loosening...the screws were too short. ...oops, commented before I saw y'all had gotten a tongue lock. Our locking hitch pin is pretty hefty and it's nearly impossible to cut it off.
Oh no that's sad to hear and sorry that yous got broken into and thank you for telling your story telling and happy Easter and have an awesome Easter and yes I like your story telling and be safe and safe travels 😥💚
Thanks for using the link, appreciate it! Yeah it's crazy to think without one how easy to steal it would be. There doesn't seem to be a perfect unstoppable solution but with all the drills, battery powered grinders etc a professional thief could get anything. At least it would require making a scene and looking out of place and being clear you aren't the owner when doing all of this vs just walking up to your stuff like it's theirs and any witnesses not thinking anything about it. That and at least if you protect your stuff petty thieves may look for easier targets. Take care and thanks again!🙂🍁
That's wild the key that far apart in years still works even. Very disappointing honestly in lack of effort and security in pricey rvs. You'd think a few more dollars for a better hatch lock would be worth it. We'll sort it all our eventually in our end though. Thanks for watching!🙂🍁
Way to be proactive 😊Unfortunately, thieves will always be out there and like you stated, we need to do what we can to deter theft. Petty theft around our little town is picking up as spring approaches and so many people complain, but yet do nothing to try and protect their property. We have motion lights that come on and we keep things locked up. Glad they didn’t make off with anything too expensive. Enjoy your U.S. adventure!
Sorry to hear that Lori. It's a bummer because it makes you more defensive. Good call on lights and ways to make it less easy to lurk around too. We were surprised this storage lot had the issue for us but are just grateful itnwas simple petty crime not taking everything in a truck, breaking a window to get in and more all before we got to start this trip. And the trip has been so nice so still very happy and grateful. Thanks for watching and hope you guys had a good long weekend!🙂🍁
Happy Easter guys!! And to let you know I really enjoyed Story-time but I am so sorry that you were broken into. We were broken into in our home a couple years ago and it leaves you rattled and very shaken for quite some time. We lost mostly computer, iPad equipment so it was costly to replace but still not worth an insurance claim. Its just the violation you feel for quite awhile that bothers you the most. So I am happy you weren’t there, not much was taken and all is safe and sound. You can probably live with the rest of it. Enjoy your trip down south and just be safe. Love that little girl up lots for me also. Til next time!!
Hey Terri, thanks for watching! That break in story sounds terrifying I'm sorry you had to go through that. Can imagine it would make you feel less comfort at home in your own home. Thankful our situation was as minor as it was. Hope you had a good Easter weekend take care and thanks for watching 🍁
So sorry about your trailer, but at least it didn’t happen while you were there, glad your safe, and things like that can be fixed, safe travels and have a great time…
So true! Could have been much worse in terms of theft, damage or us being there so all things considered just grateful to still be on the road and nothing too major damaged 🙂🍁
@@jeffnicolai311 indeed, thanks Jeff! Every now and then life throws some challenges but just have to adapt and not let it slow us down too much. At least the travels have been great and the border worked out 🙂🍁
Oh I hope you have a wonderful time at Disney,my wife and I go about every weekend for the past twenty years,we love it,hope Chloe’ has a great and memorable time..😀❤️
Id get it fixed right. First, your lock and door is weakened. Second, you don't want your key to not work at 10pm on a Sunday one day. Do you have insurance? Wyze cameras are $35, motion detection night and day, and free recordings if you install an SD card.
awww dirty scoundrels! We can relate as someone broke one of our windows, trying to get into the little trailer, 10 years ago, when we were new owners. Glad you're all okay. Carry on traveling :)
Ahh rough! When I saw all windows intact I was certainly grateful! Would have been extra inconvenient right before our trip started. Sorry that happened to you guys, but thanks for watching 🙂🍁
Glad y'all weren't home. Hopefully the storage place will following through with investigating. Change all door and bay locks. Look at Bolt Locks for others. Be safe.
Hey Gary, yeah us too. All things considered it could have been a lot worse so grateful it didn't stall the trip or set us back too far financially. Definitely need to do some replacing here on the road still though to better locks yup. Back on the hunt right now for a door one haha. Thanks for tuning in!😁🍁
Definitely have gloves when working with any hitch. Once dropped a manure spreader hitch on my hand and my work gloves saved my fingers. Gloves are a good investment.
Sorry to hear about your trailer being broken into. I’ve seen owners install Ring doorbells on their travel trailer. Also install the solar charger that the Ring doorbell fits in. Luke and Alysha thank God that the two of you and Chloe weren’t there when it happened.
Thanks for watching! A ring doorbell would be an interesting idea for a camera. We are going to eventually be getting a keypad one for convenience and to fix ours when we get a moment. Indeed thankful that it all wasn't worse though!🙂🍁
Seems to be a popular one, we'll have to look into it down the road here. Been so busy traveling, vlogging and with life that we haven't done much to it since. State Parks have a pretty safe vibe in them so far at least vs boondocking/ blm land. Someday! Thanks for watching 🙂🍁
Please do be careful though in this country too. There are thieves everywhere especially near la and cities and highly populated areas. Sadly the world is not the way it used to be and you can't just trust people. Lock absolutely everything up every time you go anywhere. Another RUclipsr I watch had their whole trailer stolen with all their belongings inside except their clothing basically. Praying for your safety always. I'm glad to hear you have insurance!
They do sound easy to be tampered with and especially when they hold so many belongings. That's partially the reason why we choose to book State Parks and not do the whole boondocking thing down here out of our element with Chloe. That and they are beautiful too haha. Thanks for watching!🍁
They never followed up with us besides the initial call we had, so not sure. Not very professional on their end but we are just going to store it elsewhere when we need to next time now haha. Cheers!🙂🍁
Sorry that happened. Just an FYI for the future alsi. Those stupid storage locks are fairly generic and your key will open almost anyones storage lock and vise versa. At home we never keep our expensive stuff on the hatch side not facing our house...just in case.
What a bummer. You'd think it could be a little more reliable hey. I guess the thought is if you break in to an outside hatch all your getting is used camping gear which isn't the greatest find. Still though, not cheap to replace! Just glad it wasn't worse. Thanks for watching 🙂 🍁
@@LukeandAlysha except all.our used camping gear is expensive stuff and lots of emergency tools. But we store our trailer at home in a relatively safe area or we wouldnt.
Thank you for your great videos. Wife and I enjoy watching and following you on your USA journey. We love to hear from you how/where/what you set up for US phone/ sim cards. Would love some input on that part please. Roaming from CAD account can get quite expensive ... Thanks for all you do and safe travels.
Thanks for watching glad you guys are enjoying the series! We have one phone on AT&T with a data plan and one on a monthly Canada roaming plan. We want to eventually do a full video and break down what we did and what options we had found. Take care guys!🙂🍁
You really want to replace the door lock, we had a similar situation and about a month later the lock no longer worked and we were locked out of our RV! I also second the idea of a "Smarthome" system with door switches, camera and alarm. The systems can be cheap considering how expense it is to replace personal stuff.
Both very good ideas, and especially like you said to help protect all the other stuff it could save. Going to replace locks eventually here just kind of fell behind as we've been busy traveling and with life. Luckily State Parks feels pretty safe so far but still want to get it done. Thanks for watching!🙂🍁
We went from Ottawa to fort wilderness at Disney world with our tent trailer and someone took a knife to the canvas and stole our tv and Christmas gifts. Disney was very good and gave us premium accommodations for the remainder of our vacation.
Rough one! In the Disneyworld campground too?? That would sure put a damper on my stay there even if they were able to comp you the site. Hope you managed to have some good family memories and enjoy the time together still at least. Mean people out there every now and then!🍁
Hope you have a great trip visiting our U.S. cousins . North America has so much natural beauty and of course you three (I almost said two, sorry Chloe) already live in one of the most beautiful areas of them all .
Very true Brian! So many beautiful areas. Lately it's been fun appreciating each ones unique beauty rather than being too settled in one. So much out there to see! Thanks for watching 🙂 🍁
Congratulations you just told the world about the possessions you own, and the type of hitch locks you bought, also that you did not do any further theft proofing. I hope this is the end of your worries and you can enjoy your travels going forward 😊
Yup all camping stuff people own and all the tech/working on the road stuff a RUclips channel would have. Would be hard pressed to not have that in a trailer. Thanks for watching 🙂🍁
You really think thieves are specifically watching thier channel? Going to follow them across the country? They shared an experience, no need for a comment like that, especially when it's not bassed in reality.
@@notreallyhere7719 no, but why give anybody an edge? Yes, RUclipsrs need a lot of gear but I still believe that it is not a good idea to list it and show them the type hitch lock you bought.
@@teresadopeysmum3268 It was an isolated incident, most likely somone saw them earlier on with equipment out. Looks like to me they have taken all the precautions they need to o
Love your videos. Should get a safe and install somewhere in the trailer. You should look at some long time travels like changing lanes. Trent and allie or eamin and bec and see what they do for security. Change out your locks. Get better locks installed. Also hopefully the security company can tell. I hope you at least filed a police report.
Good points Brenda! A safe would be a convenient thing to have while we're traveling so much. Unfortunately no follow up from the Storage facility so our family and us just all switched our spots back to our previous company. Thanks for being on the adventure with us Brenda!🙂🍁
@@LukeandAlysha sad that the storage facility is basically tolerating theft. Happy that you have all pulled out. Safe travels I the united states. There are some great keyless entries for travel trailer. May be cheaper in the states
Right before we were ready to head out too right! Hadn't even camped in the new unit yet haha. Glad it was minor in the grand scheme of damage and theft though! Thanks for watching and joining up on Patreon guys, we appreciate you!🙂🍁
So glad that you guys have the personalities that you do and just understand that this crap happens and you can let it ruin your adventures or vacation. It is what it is. Make sure you keep those balls locked up. Hahahahaha Love the bloopers too. Cheers
Haha hey Frank. Yeah it was a shocker but just so grateful it was nothing that would have delayed our travels. If we had to change around all our reservations to get a window fixed or something that would've been a little more unfortunate. Otherwise we're just rolling along and doing what we can to prevent troubles when we can, like lockin the balls up haha. Cheers!🙂🍁
Much of British Columbia has had problems with both property and violent crime for a while now. Even here in Ontario one couple with a travel trailer I watch had their unit broken into on a friend's farm.
So sorry to hear about you getting broken into. It seems like this whole world has gone crazy with thieves and such. Don’t you just wish you could be sitting there when they come through the door and your holding a, well you know what I mean! Hope and pray you don’t have anymore experience like that on your trip. The bloopers were hilarious.😜thanks for sharing that it could help someone down the road.
Haha true! Yeah too bad things are this way now. Alysha gives me a hard time being "too paranoid" sometimes but this is an example of stuff can happen. Especially in a paid, gated and camera storage facility not just sitting around in the open somewhere. At least it was minor to how it could've went and the trip has been great so far. Thanks for tuning in Steve!😁🍁
That's infuriating ! So sorry to hear that. Did you not call the Mounties ? I think a short letter from your lawyer might get the attention of the storage lot owners and did you have insurance ?
We didn't do much about it unfortunately as it was 2 days before road day and we had a bunch of stuff to get organized, packed, farewells said etc plus waiting for our voice-mail to get returned. At the end of the day I don't think anyone was going to compensate us though and it wouldn't be worth insurance so for now just living with it. And changing Storage yard companies haha🍁
So sorry to hear about your camper. We live in the US and had the exact same situation. Our camper is in a gated locked facility. Two guys climbed the fence and broke into ours first. They broke our outside hatch lock and stole our took bag to break our window in our sleeping area. Climbed in and drug everything out of the cabinets and threw it on the floor, even took a small makeup bag I kept under the bath sink and tossed the makeup everythwhere. They could have taken a smart TV and an expensive surge protecter but they only took our tool bag to use to break into 5 other campers. They sat at our dinette and smoked cigarettes and drank soda and left the cans and butts on the table. The cops got lots of dna and one was finally caught in Colorado but not charged with our damages which was a felony since it was $8000, but got charged for a restaraunt robbery. We found out the outside storage compartments all have a universal lock so you can use it on anyone's camper. We had barrel locks installed on ours when our outside compartment doors were replaced which have a specific key so no one can break into them. These guys were just out to destroy property for no reason. We always keep a lock on the tongue jack when it's parked.
Wow rough story so sorry to hear that! Terrible they just put an exclamation mark on the damage by also smoking and just trashing it all on purpose. So glad none of that happened to us. Definitely could have taken a lot more to pawn off. We're looking into more replacement stuff right now after reliving this and being on the road. Going to get it done sooner or later here haha. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience!😁🍁
There is, and we called, left a voice mail, eventually they called back and said they'd review there cameras but oh there's going to be so many hours of footage to review (less than 24hrs since we were there last..) and haven't heard back since. Us and the family all switched our storage back to our old spots now after that service and effort put in haha.🍁
You'd hope so right. Haven't heard from them since they initially got back to us. We'll be going to the other storage company in town again instead from now on we used to use haha 🍁
There's nothing worse than the invasion of your personal space. We've purchased a key-less door entry lock from Latch it and a coupler lock from Proven Industries.
Right. Good call on those purchases. We've had a lot on the go with being busy but will be installing some new stuff at some point here is the goal. Cheers and thanks for watching 🙂🍁
Thank you! Yeah that was one of the reasons we thought staying at all paid campgrounds would be a better call. Then there is a check in area, friendly camper neighbours etc instead of leaving the trailer in a random forest that we don't know if the area has a bad reputation locally while out on a trip or something haha. Loving the USA though, and thanks for watching good to see ya!🙂🍁
For sure! And that no windows or anything important for travel day was damaged as we had all of out campsites booked for set dates so a set back would have been inconvenient. Thanks for watching 🙂 🍁
Fun right! RUclips let's hs choose a few options for the countdown now and this one just felt the most relaxing and interesting compared to the old stale ones haha. Glad you liked it!🙂🍁
Be careful with telling everyone how they got in. We now know how to easily open a locked passthrough. BUT it give us an idea of how to better secure the lock.
Yeah for sure. Hopefully the take away shows the honest folk a way to help protect themselves as thieves already know tricks and have their ways. Thanks for watching!🙂🍁

Random! That's like why I wanted locking pins. Some random person could just see a shiny pin and cause me an inconvenience for fun. Strange times haha🍁
Yeah really glad it was very minor in the grand scheme of things. A window fox 2 days before departing would've sucked or losing valuables. I also enjoy the peace of mind factors in life too!🙂🍁
It’s unfortunate but thieves make us spend more money I changed all my locks and bought a hitch lock from proven industries not cheap but best on the market it sucks we can’t have nice things because of thieves
It's a bummer for sure but an unfortunate cost of living life sometimes. All you can do is your reasonable best to prevent theft and then hope for the best. It could've been worse at least!🍁

I had same thing with my rv, door they didn't get in mine either. I could open up my friends new 2021 trailer hatches with .my 2009 trailer keys....
Sorry for this happening to you but I'm glad your all safe and you did not get hurt.
Yeah it was certainly an unexpected event right before starting our tip haha😅🍁
So sorry about your trailer, but at least it didn’t happen while you were there, glad your safe, and things like that can be fixed, safe travels and have a great time…
So true! Could have been much worse in terms of theft, damage or us being there so all things considered just grateful to still be on the road and nothing too major damaged 🙂🍁
Well greater days to come, keep moving forward ,enjoy your family time, and have a great day..😀❤️
@@jeffnicolai311 indeed, thanks Jeff! Every now and then life throws some challenges but just have to adapt and not let it slow us down too much. At least the travels have been great and the border worked out 🙂🍁
Oh I hope you have a wonderful time at Disney,my wife and I go about every weekend for the past twenty years,we love it,hope Chloe’ has a great and memorable time..😀❤️
I’m sorry for going through that but glad you didn’t get lots taken!
Yeah it sure could have been a lot worse in many ways. The show goes on!🍁
Id get it fixed right. First, your lock and door is weakened. Second, you don't want your key to not work at 10pm on a Sunday one day. Do you have insurance? Wyze cameras are $35, motion detection night and day, and free recordings if you install an SD card.
Yeah a camera would be certainly fun to add. Even just for spotting wildlife that gets motion captured sometimes. Maybe someday 🙂🍁
awww dirty scoundrels!
Thanks for tuning in!😁🍁
Loved your update. Keep up the great videos.
Happy to hear it, thanks for watching Lee!🙂🍁
Definitely have gloves when working with any hitch. Once dropped a manure spreader hitch on my hand and my work gloves saved my fingers. Gloves are a good investment.
Ouch! That's a compelling point, may need to find a new pair after all 🍁
Sorry to hear about your trailer being broken into.
That really bites but I do suggest getting furrion camera set or another brand so u can record if someone breaks in again just my thoughts
Sorry for your loss but just wondering if the security cameras saw anything. Good luck to you and stay save
@@LukeandAlysha that would be wonderful to hear some information on it. Much appreciated. Safe travels
Thanks for watching 🙂 🍁
just a fyi our key pad lasted a year and the gear to unlock striped out
Ouch that's a bummer.. would be unfortunate to lock your manual key inside too when that happens. We'll keep that in mind!🙂🍁
Plus a lot of the keys for the hatches are the same! Door keys also are often the same always double lock the door. Hope this never happens again
Wild! We'll definitely be looking into a reasonable replacement down the road 🙂🍁
@@LukeandAlysha I believe Eammon and Bec & Trent and Allie have been sponsored by Simply safe, perhaps this is something you can work towards?
Sorry this happened to you. We like storytime and bloopers.
Yeah it's a bummer that it sounds cliche but seems to be the way things are heading lately. Hopefully better things to come in the future at least!🙂🍁
@@LukeandAlysha even though surveillance cameras are more common theives seem more brazen than ever.
Love the bloopers! 🤣😂
😂🍁
Hey Guys. Happy Easter! To bad that there are low life's trying to take what isn't theirs. Be safe and have fun !!
Agreed! Thanks for watching Gary!🙂🍁
I shouldn't say this but all rvs have same key for the baggage locks so I changed mine
Not a bad idea. Crazy they make them like that!🍁
That's infuriating !
I LOVED YOUR BLOOPERS 😂
add them more often!!
Haha hey good to seeya! Will do when we have some funny stuff 😂🍁
Aren’t there security cameras in your storage? Ours has cameras.
Seems like the storage unit place should have insurance
You'd hope so right. Haven't heard from them since they initially got back to us. We'll be going to the other storage company in town again instead from now on we used to use haha 🍁
There's nothing worse than the invasion of your personal space. We've purchased a key-less door entry lock from Latch it and a coupler lock from Proven Industries.
Right. Good call on those purchases. We've had a lot on the go with being busy but will be installing some new stuff at some point here is the goal. Cheers and thanks for watching 🙂🍁
I’m sorry that happened to you.
Thanks Chris! At least it didn't set back our travel plans 🙂🍁
BE SAFE YALL!!!! I assumed you were broken into in America bc crime is so rampant here. Take some extra precautions.
Oh ugh! It feels so violating when someone gets in your home or storage!
Right. So glad they didn't actually get in to the house part itself. We hadn't even slept in it yet at that point haha!🍁
So sorry you were broken into. People can be so disrespectful. Thank God you weren’t home hand that happened.
For sure! And that no windows or anything important for travel day was damaged as we had all of out campsites booked for set dates so a set back would have been inconvenient. Thanks for watching 🙂 🍁
Hi. Cute cartoon countdown
Fun right! RUclips let's hs choose a few options for the countdown now and this one just felt the most relaxing and interesting compared to the old stale ones haha. Glad you liked it!🙂🍁
Stay safe god bless
You too Bernie!🍁
Be careful with telling everyone how they got in. We now know how to easily open a locked passthrough. BUT it give us an idea of how to better secure the lock.
Yeah for sure. Hopefully the take away shows the honest folk a way to help protect themselves as thieves already know tricks and have their ways. Thanks for watching!🙂🍁
what did the cops say
I’m guessing tweekers are watching they’re like animals in the jungle they camouflage and strike
Very true!🍁
hello l&a blogs Happy Easter Sunday sorry that you guys got broken into before you left your own country but I guess you had preventative stuff in place that stopped them from doing more damage if you like to know you can get what is called a electric one that has a key Bob in it where you can put it on all your doors and your baggage doors and it will all open the key Bob will open all of them at one time your friend John Chalker Waterbury Connecticut USA and welcome to the United States of America love you guys CC 🙏🙏👼👼🐇🐇🪔🪔
Hi there John Chalker! We are doing good hope you are having a good Easter! Was a bummer when this happened but things have been great since and loving the USA. Hope you have a good day and thanks for watching 😁🍁
Hopefully the thievery is done and out of the way now. It’s a shame this happened. Keep your eyes open and aware. Just one more thing to add.
Totally Jeff. Was a disappointing surprise but at least it was only minor damage and things missing in the end. The adventures continue!🙂🍁
You never know what a thief wants…our tire covers were stolen off our trailer while in our driveway!…glad it wasn’t worse for you!
Random! That's like why I wanted locking pins. Some random person could just see a shiny pin and cause me an inconvenience for fun. Strange times haha🍁
mean people suck. glad it was minor inconvenience, l am big believe in insurance piece of mind is what some people call it
Yeah really glad it was very minor in the grand scheme of things. A window fox 2 days before departing would've sucked or losing valuables. I also enjoy the peace of mind factors in life too!🙂🍁
Sucks just sucks, you can try all u want to stop them but if they want it nothing will stop them.
Very true! A deterent helps but if someone wants something bad enough there are tools for it for sure🍁
Sounds like it was someone with a RV in there looking for items that he needed.
Could've been! Luckily they only made off with an arm load full and not a truck load full!🍁
trudeau's people at work
A coworkers trailer was stolen out of a repair yard - they found it about 90 miles away in a field and it was being used to cook meth in ….
😬 that's crazy! Unfortunate these kinds of things happen. Good insurance and making it harder to steal so they don't target yours is all you can do i guess!🍁
