VANLIFE DISASTER! Broke In Whilst I Was Asleep Inside

- Our micro campervan van conversion got broken into whilst I was asleep inside . Living vanlife can be dangerous especially in the UK. England vanlife uk with the uks high crime rate it was only a matter of time before our van got broken into. The perks of having a stealth campervan I guess.

What a lovely gesture Caroline. So sorry that these idiots can't leave people in peace.
Note to self: Don’t sleep naked when doing #vanlife. Glad it all worked out okay in the end!
He should wear superman PJs...😄😄 Glad he got through this. Lesson learnt!
Hey, if you’re a nakey you’re a nakey!
yup!
Some silky boxers FTW
not leaving a bag in plain sight also will help
I'm a 76yr old female, that started my van life in my late teens - early 20's...& am still @ it, on & off. I never leave ANYTHING IN THE FRONT AREA OF MY VEHICLE, unless it's completely covered with 1 of the several large patterned cover sheets, that I always carry in my vehicle. If thieves can see what is there, they'll break in to get it - even if it's only of value to U. Best of luck to U, from Kimberley, BC, Canada.
That's crazy. I bet you have a few tricks up your sleeve and some stories to tell. I hope to get a van in the near future, ironically to escape this den of thieves I currently live in. Noisy, thieving druggo's I must escape from. I will be sure to remember not to put anything valuable on display. Though I plan to camp way away from here, away from all the scumlords.
Pattern sheets and /or anything flat black color- people look past the color black - film crews use duvateen. It’s a felt like fabric that’s easy to throw over everything so passing by it looks like nothing is in the car. I’m sed this trick 25+ years. Cheers!
I'm glad you weren't hurt & a very valuable lesson learned! You have a positive attitude & won't let this deter you from the lifestyle you love!! Happy trails!!
You handled this so well!! Stay positive! And thanks for the video! 🙂
Positivity always wins

Just remember to keep your bags in the back in future! People are toerags and doesn't take much for them to see an easy target.
That was the lesson learnt from this experience
@@iNDI_VAN_A_JONES also the thief gets easily scared when confronted and it can get messy quickly. better just to concentrate on remembering stuff about him so you can talk to the police later on. Shoes and chains are pieces of clothing ppl usually wear daily
That's beggeners stuff tbh
I have van and many time when i was piss off for whatever reason i would put a bag in front seat, half window open and wait to shot someone who would try to steal it...but still no one

I love your sense of humor and the way you told your story! We will probably get some motion sensor lights for the top of our van after watching this. We live in the U.S. (Tennessee) The stereotype about Americans being armed is true. If my window breaks in the middle of the night, and someone puts a hand through my window, he may lose a hand.
I really wish we had the option of weapons here haha
How would you stand legally in Tennessee if in the same situation you jumped out and emptied a mag with an assault rifle into the fleeing thieves?
@@dockerslower I would never do that, and anyone who did would be in a world of trouble.
… and this is exactly why America has just had ANOTHER school shooting. When is the US going to put a ban on guns?? How many children need to die in your country, at school? And you actually sound proud of owning a weapon too. As a country you should be thoroughly ashamed.

Love your attitude of viewing the whole scary incident as an "educational experience". You're a good story-teller. . . . Great video!
Tennessee "protect your castle" law would allow a defense, though deadly force might be different. Someone tried to break in my home, the sound of the pump action on a 20 ga was enough. The next thing I heard was feet pounding gravel. This old lady don't play.

Some kind of cage like police vans on windscreen will help
You are such a good story teller, I laughed out loud when you said you jumped out the rear of the van naked, and took off running through an industrial estate after the thieves! 🤣 Such a good attitude about it all as well, good on ya!
I laugh so hard when he say chase the the guy with his naked body 🤣 💀 😂 and lock himself out naked

Best advice for van life community: don't sleep naked in your van ever!
I have always slept naked in my car, even during winter.
Despite you having spent money on the new cards that you needed for work, it was so good to hear that somebody decent found your work back and returned it to you.
I just hate all the inconvenience that criminals cause! Glad everything worked out OK for you though, in the end!

Love your channel, you are so down to earth yet still manage to be up beat throughout all the dramas life throws at you. I especially loved your van conversion, that was seriously impressive!
Whew, what an experience you don't want repeated. Lesson learned.
I was sleeping in my van in Hammersmith and two guys tried to get into my van. They walked off quite casually once I banged on the side of my van. Called the police which was on the scene in 10 minutes. They drove around the neighborhood for a bit, did not spot the perpetrators. It’s disturbing though. Thank for sharing. Be safe.
It’s good to hear about the things that can go wrong in van life because everyone paints it as a rosy picture. Glad it all went well.

What an experience. Thank goodness you were able to come out on top of this. In future, I would keep any bag or belongings out of the front seat so as not to tempt any more thieves. You are lucky to have such good work mates and the window repair company was awesome getting you a new windscreen.

Love your positive attitude on the situation. Also sleeping naked might have been the advantage you needed without realising it. Nobody wants to risk getting their ass kicked by an angry naked man(I have had to do this once during a break in) , probably why they 'handed ' your bag to a local neighbour too 😂

When I park up in my van for the night, I put up those silver fitted insulation blanket things on the inside of all my windows and screen.
Yes, it takes away from the whole stealth thing, but it does have the added effect of making sure nobody can see in. Plus if potential thieves think there is someone inside, they're going to give it a pass.
I stay well off the beaten track as much as possible too.
That may be a double edged sword as there will be nobody to help should the worst happen, however I can look after myself and would rather there were no witnesses if I did have to defend myself & my property!
So sorry your van was broken into. Be careful out there and keep making great videos.

Might be worth considering having a security film fitted to your side windows this will at least stop a brick from going through your windows and arms coming through although it will still need replacing it will protect your possessions 👍🏻
Might not be a good idea if you are involved in a car crash. Slows down emergency services or a member of the public helping you get out of the car.
@@stevekent3991 That’s the trade off which is more likely to happen a break in or an accident ? The emergency services would be fine dealing with it as they carry saws to cut through laminated windscreens.
@@AJ-qn6gd no trade off at all, I would rather myself and whomever might be in the car be alive than be dead. Possessions mean nothing, you can replace them. It really doesn’t matter if things get stolen from your vehicle, it does matter if you are unconscious after a crash, your vehicle is on fire and bystanders can’t get you out of your vehicle.
I'm sorry that happened. Glad you're okay.
