All of your dresses are lovely. I have Butterick 5951 and have been putting off making it. But after seeing your make I definitely want to have a go at it. The fabrics you choose are beautiful 😍
I think you can reduce the length of a zip without taking the old zip out and replacing it. Reducing the length of the zip can done at either end when it is already sewn into a garment.
Hi Siân!! Glad you redone zipper in B5951, you look amazingly stunning in it.. Happy to hear your going to keep trying to get a pair of trousers to fit.. I’ve got faith in you & you’ll get there…. 💜💜💜🧵🧵🧵
You are making that Butterick 5951 look amazing! And your skill at making woven fabric fit your body so well is next level. The Eve dresses are also really lovely. I can't wear wrap dresses because I have a weird fear that they will accidentally unwrap and leave me naked in public lol.
So lovely dresses : the Butterick one ( I have this pattern and your version makes me want to try it) and the Eve dresses 😍😍😍 I can totally understand that you want to sew more🤗
Love the red dress! I have been looking for 1940's dress patterns and that one is fab! Love the dress you have on as well, very nice color for you. The eve dresses are just beautiful on you!
The 40s dress definitely deserved having the correct zip inserted; it's gorgeous! And I love all your Eve Dresses. I really need to get around to making it for myself. (Looks at neverending & growing lists of plans 😇) ❤️
You really do have the most beautiful colouring. I don't think there is a single colour that doesn't look great on you. Everyone else seems to only be able to wear a certain type of colours, be it cool or warm overtones, deep, pastel, muted or clear. I can only wear autumn colours, which I do love, but sometimes it would be fun to wear cool or clear colours and not look like I was ill.
That first red / pink dress is amazing! You look absolutely fantastic in it, what a perfect shape for your lovely figure. Well done on tackling the alterations! 😁
I love your videos! I have the same figure with a bigger hourglass that I’ve filled. Lol. I love the high waisted trousers you made in purple needle cord. I bought that pattern last year and am now inspired to cut it out and sew it up got the upcoming fall season. Keep up the inspiration!
Your videos (and also Lady Rebecca Fashions') convinced me to try wearing a belt. I've hated that my body shape, even when I'm thinner, doesn't have a waist that is the "correct" proportion to my bust and hip. I've always felt like a belt would only emphasize how thick my waist was instead of making it look smaller. I wore one yesterday and felt really uncomfortable emotionally even though my mum and sister said it looked good. I'm going to keep trying to wear belts and try to stop saying terrible things to myself about it. As someone with generalised depressive disorder I know that my brain lies to me about a lot of things and I have to make new neural pathways to combat this. But it can be so hard.
Beautiful makes and you look amazing….don’t think otherwise! What was the dress you was wearing through the vlog and at the end, lovely colours? Thank you for sharing.
About hemming the long dress: the way it used to be done was for the dress wearer to put the dress on, wearing the appropriate shoes, and stand on a short stool, while a friend knelt and measured up from the floor to mark the hem line all around.
If you're ok with jeans, I can recommend the M&S "Sophia" jeans, which are very forgiving for an hourglass shape (I like them, have a waist in a sensible place, work for my bum!).
I think the empire waist trousers would be great in a heavy crepe. I had a navy pair in the late 90’s for work which were a similar style. What about the Megan Nielsen flint trousers?
Oh I love the B5951! 💕 💗 Oh yes very 40s! I got the pattern after seeing it on you but not made it up yet... Got some autumnal viscose for it in my stash. 😂
Hello Sian. I love the Eve dress and I do have a Vogue pattern that is very similar it is Vogue 1734 and it comes in two styles, one is with the 'flutter' sleeve and the other is a 'plain' style of sleeve, and one of the fabric suggestions is for a rayon challis. How is Chiana? I am worried about my little Maiya she is constantly sleeping and hasn't eaten very much (unusual for her she loves her tucker) although she did come out and have a scratch on her scratching post this afternoon. I just love her so...... Love to Chiana and Susie xxx
I'm not a sewer I just love videos and your style is incredible, you make me want to learn to sew just from watching you express your creativity in such a beautifully honest way. I have a question about the 9296 in an Instagram video this woman (don't remember who) had a tool to measure from the ground up with the dress on the coat hanger is that something that is standard or a trick of hers.
@@KittenishBehaviourSian There are chalk skirt markers (don’t know what they are called in English) available for around EUR 35 - 40,-. Prym has one. It’s on my wishlist, no experience yet. About hanging it on a coat hanger: I would wear it. The way things hang from a hanger is likely very different from how they hang from the body.
I’ve been fully inspired by your Eve with the Rifle Paper Co. fabric so I’ve now purchased the pattern and looking at the fabric! But can I ask how you laid out your pieces, as the pattern says you need at least 140cm width and the RPC seems to be 112cm. Also how much fabric did you end up using? Thank you!
Did you know that fabric.com don't ship to the UK anymore? If you order it on their American Amazon store you can but the shipping is pretty eye-watering!
Oh! I use bias binding around the whole front edge from hem to hem around the neck. If you have a look at my Eve review video I go in to more detail about the construction. The link is in the description of this video 😊
Congratulations on replacing the zip, it's a beautiful dress and really suits you. As for the zip not being 'as perfect' as you would like the only people who should be close enough to see should be your loved ones, who won't mention it, or creepy stalkers who need reporting!
I love the Eve dresses that pattern looks amazing on you. Love your comment about your boobs it made me giggle. BTW I thought the trousers look great on you.
Absolutely love the Pinky Hydrangea dress at the beginning, I can't wait to see the next one you make! The style is so complementary to your figure!
you look fantastic in that red/pink dress - those colours suit you so well. That's my fave of all your makes
Every single dress is gorgeous on you Sian. Very inspirational.

The pink floral B5951 is beautiful in itself, and also is extremely becoming to you.

That Butterick dress looks gorgeous on you!!!
Yes we are all to critical of ourselves and should be nicer to ourselves and others. 💞
The two new dresses are lovely.

I always feel so virtuous after making repairs and alterations 😇 your Eve dresses are lovely as per usual.

That B5951 is so pretty on you! I’m avoiding several alteration projects that I need to do, so I applaud you for Doing The Things!

Love them all, but particularly the zip fixed dress 👗
I can reeeeally see you in some wide leg trousers in a rust wide wale corduroy! So seventies & gorgeous x

Hi! That Butterick dress is just so lovely - I can’t wait to see the green one!

Love the Butterick 5951 on you - so shows off figure!! So worth the alteration.

Well done for re-doing the zip, not a fun task. Love all the dresses, can’t decide which one I like the best.🧶🌈🍓

Love the red dress it suits you , you should love it certainly looks vintage.❤️🩹

I’m trying to figure out how you hem your dresses. You add binding to the bottom? Could you give a short explanation of that?
I turn the hem up twice and sew it in place on the Eve dress 😊

I have the 5951 Dress Pattern, I am concerned with the sleeves being so tight that you cannot raise your arms.? Need to adjust the arm sye somewhat.

Have you ever made a lined Eve dress Sian?
😀
“But you know what, I have nice boobs so it’s fine” 🤣 damn skippy you do! Embrace the parts you love!

I have a chalk marker but I haven't used it yet, the one I was talking about sort of pinches the fabric so you can place a pin in it. 😊
@@KittenishBehaviourSian they often crop up on EBay I have one it is very helpful.

I had 5 yards of the fabric and you can see how I cut it out in this video ruclips.net/video/IuId1Y9TQbY/видео.html I always cut my Eves this way 😊

What do you do with the bias on a hem could you show me! Please please?
I just hem these dresses as soon as they are finished, I've not noticed any bias drop on any of the ones I've made
