    Love your videos and yarn hauls. You’re so sweet and down to earth and just plain delightful to listen to. So glad you find the time even late in pregnancy and with a little one running around!

    I wish you an amazing day today Bethany! I’ve been watching for a little over a year and I’m super excited every time you post a new video! You’ve inspired me to knit my first sweater in 2022 and I’ve been knitting and watching your videos ever since! I love your channel and your content. Bless you and your family❤️

    I love when people show their purchases. I like hearing about different kinds of yarn and seeing different colors. Doesnt mean I'm going to buy it now or ever but i enjoy hearing about it. It frustrates me that so many knitting podcasters feel guilty about sharing their purchases lately as if they are responsible for other peoples purchases.

    I hope you enjoy every single gram of your new yarn, and I'll send you some Savannah yarn if you would like :)
    I also bought 'the wrong yarn' on a trip in the Fall. I bought a DK weight instead of fingering at a local yarn store thinking it would not be a big deal, but when putting the yarns from the trip together for my project, it WAS a big deal, and I had to leave that part of my trip out of my project. It was a little disappointing, but my project is turning out great, and no one knows the mistake but me so, no harm done.
    You look lovely in late pregnancy! I'm glad you enjoyed your trip, and I wish you good knitting mojo in these last weeks.
    Also, I've been looking for cone yarn - thanks for the recommendation.

    Love your podcast. I enjoy seeing what you’re making and your yarn hauls too. I’d love to hear more about living in Belgium (I think that’s where you said you live) but if you want to keep the channel strictly knitting I understand.

    Oh my! When you helped up the three DK weights from wooly knit, my brain immediately said those need to be a colorwork sweater. The black being the main color and the grey and orange being the contrasts. It would be so beautiful.

    Question, when buying woolyknit from BE, do you get hit with import taxes and customs fees? Its the one thing thats been holding me back from ordering from them...

    • @dusty1639
      @dusty1639 3 месяца назад

      A lot of the time the UK businesses won’t pay VAT which can be around 20% so you’ll have to cover that at least regardless of the amount you’ve ordered. Perhaps email them to check because some businesses do pay the vat first

    I'm going to assume that you already know this because of the way you brushed it off. But to anyone who might be reading this without knowing the "controversies" of Hobby Lobby: They are not only anti LGBTQ+, anti-abortion, and racist, they also commit art/antiquities theft and fraud.
    As a European, I did not know this, and am super grateful to have been educated.
    Bethany, spend your money however you like - but you are also advertising for Hobby Lobby by mentioning their name. I can only assume that these things combined mean that you either do not care about these issues or that you support them.

      They also don't offer paid maternity leave, won't cover birth control, and have fired employees for getting pregnant. So, yeah. Obviously, she's aware of the controversies, but for those who are not, it's a very significant bundle. But the yarn she got from the independent store with the local dyer? Gorgeous, and a great excuse to visit Wilmington 😊

    i don’t appreciate you hand-waving away your support of a corporation that openly funds anti-LGBT, anti-woman organizations while also contributing to the colonization of countries via the stealing and selling off cultural objects.

    I love your videos and was so excited to see a yarn haul, but as a member of the queer community it's disappointing to hear that you went to Hobby Lobby, knowing the controversy about them - and that you brushed it off in that way. I'm from the USA and I understand the temptation to shop there, but it's not worth giving money to a company who openly discriminates and violates LGBTQ+ people's rights.

    • @MLCosmo
      @MLCosmo 3 месяца назад +19

      Understandable. She mentioned how she bought the yarn in support of a creator she admires and how it doubles as a convenient yarn for her son. With all things considered, she probably only gave a few dollars to Hobby Lobby as mass retailers purchase wholesale from yarn companies and plenty of her well earned money goes towards luxury yarns that do support fair rights. I say, give her a break. You’re watching free content and quite honestly, the damage is not that severe.

    • @UrieLove
      @UrieLove 3 месяца назад +53

      @@MLCosmoI see what you’re saying. It’s hard because many millions of people think the same way - oh, I’m only giving a few dollars to them, not a big deal. What does that add up to? It keeps them in business funding hate. It also makes a big difference when a creator with 100K+ subscribers gives them a platform. And you can debate the relevancy here…but her videos are sponsored. So it may be free to watch, but ads and sponsorships create powerful numbers. If no one stands for anything, nothing changes. She is saying what she cares about and what she doesn’t. You get to decide what matters to you, but telling someone who is personally affected to give her a break? Really?

      @@UrieLove Yeah, I will tell someone to give her a break because Bethany is late in her pregnancy and has a young toddler at home. She's probably tired and is still making content for us. We're all human and we can go a long way with compassion. It's yarn.

    • @UrieLove
      @UrieLove 3 месяца назад +54

      @@MLCosmo I would say not supporting heavily hateful conglomerates is compassionate. I’m pregnant as well and I have no issue maintaining my heart and beliefs. No issue with Bethany either. She simply made a statement and did it publicly, and everyone has the right to comment on that without being invalidated. You can have a voice without telling another to quiet theirs.

    Hi Bethany! I really liked watching your yarn haul. I just wanted to say that I can see some criticism in the comments from people, and everyone is entitled to have their opinion, just as you are entitled to shop where you want. And to me, it sounds like you just went yarn shopping very casually, with no harmful intent in mind. I also know that finding some yarns that are sold in the US here in Europe, can be quite tricky.
    You seem like such a sweet and fun person and I think you brought home some lovely yarns from the US!
    Thanks for sharing some of your stash! I would be so interested to see a UFO video if you are able to (or up for it, rather!).

    Why is Hobby Lobby a controversial subject?

  • @beepbopboop3221
    @beepbopboop3221 3 месяца назад +5

    Bethany, you DO NOT need to respond to trollers who think they can tell you where to shop. You have been picking up yarn there for years when you visit your parents. This is not new. It's none of anyone's business where you buy yarn but you are willing to share your haul. They should just appreciate you sharing it. It doesn't mean they have to shop there if they don't like it. I don't shop there. I have no skin in the game. I think certain people just dont like their christian values. Hobby Lobby would be in court if they were discriminating against LGBTQ or women for abortions or pregnancy- and the don't. Just like they had to go to court about their buying practices. As an employer, they only have to provide health care, not abortions. This is why planned parenthood exists.
