Donna here, I have doilies from my german great aunt that are made of actual sewing thread. My mom told me that they called it "knotting". I tried to do some research on it but came up empty. My mom had them all framed some years back and they are gorgeous! On the subject of Joann, wish we had one here, I've never gotten to feel big twist.
This TRULY makes me want to hit Joann STAT!!! I’m lucky to live in a big city (Columbus) w/several locations, but I’m totally going to find the biggest location when I go! I’m still a yarnhead newbie, but I’m TOTALLY smitten! Also, I heard you mention Overland Park! I LOVE that area! Years ago, I had a home office there and would travel to town monthly! Now, as we prepare for retirement, we are actually considering that area! Regardless! I’m so glad I found your channel! Welllll said, “YARN IS THE BEST”!!! Hugs! ☺️🫶🏻🧶. Lisa in Ohio
I wonder since some of the Joanns locations are closing if they are taking the yarn from those closing stores & distributing it to stores that are staying open. That was alot of boxes!
I couldn’t work at Joann’s or Michaels It would be like I hired them because everybody paycheck I’d go yarn etc. shopping 😂❤ I love going along with you shopping. It was so fun 🛍️ I don’t get out much due to health issues,no car plus being broke after paying bills 💸 So it’s so much fun to watch yarn etc. shopping videos 🧶❤ I get to live through the shopper ❤
Your store got boxes shipped to them from stores that closed. This is a great thing because it means your store will not be closing. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 This is why your shelves are stuffed with goodness ☺️
I'm wondering if a lot of this yarn is coming from the barges that we're sitting out in the Pacific for so long. They estimated it would take a year or two to normalize everything again. I know a lot of people are saying it's a "warehouse dump", and that may be making it worse, but other yarn places and craft stores that don't use those warehouses are experiencing this, too. I think they ordered a ton of stuff for pandemic times, it was backed up because of shipping problems, then restrictions dropped kind of quickly across the country and not only could there be more hours worked at the ports but now all that ordered product has to go somewhere. They probably have been putting what they could out for awhile, but people aren't buying as much now, so they just decided to stick it all out there at once and drop costs as much as possible. If you're in a position to buy, now is the time. Stock is high, demand is low, prices are great. I wouldn't be surprised if we see significant shrinkage in the market over the next year or two, which will help raise prices but make certain types of yarn harder to find.
That works be so much fun!! 🤣🤣🤣 Could you imagine seeing a couple of ladies treating into the boxes, dumping them out, and then rolling around in it? 🤣🤣🤣
All the boxes….It’s a warehouse dump. Not necessarily a good sign. Closing warehouses and sending all the stock to a variety of stores. My two Joann’s had boxes galore a few weeks ago and now the merchandise is packed to the ceiling. They even have fabric bolts stacked up on shelves behind the registers as there is no room left anywhere else. Yarn is stacked over aisle shelves everywhere.
Hi!! I was just at that store yesterday!!! I’m in Valley Falls 🙂 I just started crocheting a few months ago and I get sooo overwhelmed when I look at the yarn there lol I want to make two baby blankets for two of my daughters having babies in December and January but have no clue where to start!
Joanns is so expensive compared to Hobby Lobby! Their I Love This Yarn, which is the softest acrylic ever is only 3.49 every other week, this week being one of them.
Which Joann’s are you at? Overland Park was wiped out of yarn last week. You must be at the North Kansas City store. Overland Park has been poorly stocked for almost a year. They say they have no staffing. Oh I just looked at this posting it was a year agp.
Wow that Joann has way more yarn than the one here! I kind of wish you did empty out all the yarn everywhere! I guess we can’t have the Yarn Geek banned from Joann 😂
I was told at our Joann store they got a great deal of yarn they couldnt pass it up i was so happy its been a while with low stock in the last two years.
Yeah, big twists used to sell 2 for 5. Until prices went up now, it's 299 I don't think that's a very good deal. They don't let you use any of their coupons when it's on sell. I don't like the way Joann's it does. Are coupons I have to do separate transactions? In order to use all my coupons, that's ridiculous. Thanks for sharing. Nope, our joans is not that full a lot of blanket yarn? That's about it which I don't use.

Crochet with sewing thread is a fun challenge. Ive done the .06. I always use 3 strands together.

All the Joann's in West Virginia have closed their doors!
😔 Then the yarn in those stores have been sent to stores like hers. I have to try and get to my JoAnn to see if they will be closing it.

Wow that’s a lot of yarn!
They should sell some of those huge boxes at Mystery Boxes if they need to get rid of it!
How Fun! That store had a fabulous selection! Now I want to se e what my Joann’s has in stock.
Yay for clearance!
Wow, thats a whole lot of yarn. I want to go diving in it too, lol. Hope you have an amazing day. Love ya!! 😘🤗❤️

My Joann doesn't have hardly anything in it, and its way smaller than yours. Your lucky 😊
Maybe for Black Friday 🤔
THAT'S TOO FUNNY - reminds you of yournhair!!!
The Bernat Blanket would be great for pet blankets.
I made a puff stitch blanket using some Bernat Velvet Twist for color…gorgeous, recommend!
New M caps and isles. Looks like they are enlarging.

There other stores in KC are wiped out. They need to stock them with that extra yarn.
My store was over flowing and now their hours have changed
Did you find more of the Caron freckles ?
I found one that was grey and black, but that was it. No pet colors. 😢

This supports the RUMOR that Joanns is cleaning out their warehouses in preparation for closing.
