@@Tashiathome we can all be honest, all of our yarn stashes are a mess 😄 aww well that’s very sweet of her to gift you legit packs of yarn. I’m sure she knew you would admire the yarn just like she did when she first got it ❤️
the chunkier yarn makes me think hats and scarves or any kind of winter gear..... pretty impressive colours... Your auntie has a great taste in yarn and colours
Here in denmark noro yarn is very expensive, about 20 dollars pr skein. When you are crochet ore kniitting with the yarn you start on a skein, and if it ends witg a purple color, you shal start the next skein witg purple color, then the color Will be so beautiful, so I it ends with a color, then start with the same color. You have to arrange the skeins so they wil start and end in the rigth order.
What a great gift from your Auntie...I know you must be in yarn heaven. All of the yarns are beautiful and love the colors. The MANO Del Uruguay is from my husband's country...Uruguay South America, it's a beautiful country with Beautiful beaches. So excited to see the yarn from there. I'm a crocheter and love making plushies. 😁Enjoy your beautiful yarn treasures and happy knitting. Thank you for sharing.❣💕
Beautiful yarn! The "thick to thin" and different weights in the same skein is because Noro is a roving style yarn. I think Lion Brand Scarfie yarn is a roving, too, for comparison!
I’ve never worked with Noro yarn before personally but I do know that natural fiber yarns can oxidize and become brittle over time. So depending on how long your Aunti had them before gifting to you… that could be the breakage factor. So fun to watch you unbag them!! It was like shopping without the bill! 🥰🙌🏽✨😅
Wow, that is a very amazing gift indeed. More is a high end yarn. It is a!so beautiful. You have a very generous Aunt. She knows you will use and love it.
That's a great gift! Concerning the Noro, it's a roving style yarn so not plied. Roving does naturally go from thick to thin. Even the acrylic roving like red heart unforgettable goes from thick to thin. That's one reason it breaks easily and the fact that it's wool. Once it's worked up, it's strong. You could always hold it with another yarn to provide strength. Because it was free, I wouldn't charge more than $10. But that's me.
Score👏 Have you considered double stranding the Noro yarn with a stronger yarn to give it some strength? Personally, I would curse, cry a lot and rehome it too if I paid that much for yarn and it broke that easily. I am definitely a yarn snob LOLOL Your Aunt certainly loves you Tashi 🥰Make her something or give her that gorgeous headband?! Crafters are the most appreciate gift recipients💝
That banana silk yarn looks so interesting!! I want to know how that works up. I may go down the rabbit hole and search on you tube. I guessed 78 skeins.
AWESOME Haul!! so the "Banana Silk Yarn" is not naturally died from the banana leaf... its actually harvested from the bark (rotted outer layer) of a banana tree and broken down into pulp to make into yarn! the noro is a roving syle yarn where its thicker in some parts and thinner in others, also it seems the yarn is very old! it shouldnt break that easily, maybe your aunt had it for a very long time and who she bought it from probably did as well. just because something is on EBAY dosent make it a good deal, i found a furls odessy hook for $300!
Your sweater is gorgeous! I guessed 75, so I was short. Roving yarn is an acquired taste. I think it's all about the spinning process. I was wondering how many yards were in a skein, and then you mentioned the meters. I like to know the price by the yard, so I know if I'm overpaying. That's sad it breaks so easily. I do a strength test in the store before I buy yarn, but there's no way to know if you order it.
Here's something fun about the pronunciation of Kureyon: "くれよん(pronounced coo-ray-oh-n) is the Japanese pronunciation of the English “crayon;” thus, the literal name of the yarn is “crayon.” I got this info from the Kureyon Ravelry page.
Enjoy your gift!! According to my rules of acquisition, that yarn doesn't count as stash. If you didn't take it, it would have been orphaned. We cannot have feral yarn running through the streets!! Noro is definitely an acquired taste. I've only done one skein of Noro and it had vegetable matter in it. And it's very loosely spun. I'd charge $30 per if I were you. That's $10 for the yarn and $20 an hour for your labor.
I guessed 100 skeins. I was disappointed in the quality of the yarn you used for the headband. I hope you will make a video of what you do with the banana silk.
I would literally get a little heart attack if someone would give me this amount of Noro yarn. 😮 I just gifted myself 4 balls of Noro Ito for 30 Euros EACH!! Make something nice with it, it's a treasure
Yes big difference wool vrs acrylic or polyester. I like wool but it makes me itch I got a letterman jacket and it was part wool. But don't know now how it would feel. Silk or natural is good .
If it breaks that easily maybe it's yarn rot. For how long did your aunt have those skeins hanging around? Or maybe the issue was from before and it was improperly handled before your aunt got it.
Noro yarn is amazing, PLEASE don't use it on decorative pumpkins..... That yarn is so amazing for garments... If need be make a scrappy garment i.e. bolero, shrug, cardi, or top...... the fibers are so nice for making yourself look like a million bucks 😉
For the Noro you can make a blanket and use all the different colors by alternating. I made a crochet unending granny square blanket with mine, it was beautiful and easy to make and you stop when you run out of yarn. You can make a sweater out of the yarn don’t worry about the breaking, it holds as a garment. That is the nature of a single spun yarn. The thick and thin quality is also not a flaw, just a style of spinning.
Oh man! I am impressed you made a blanket- I lose interest too quickly for that 😅 that’s why I only make small projects so that it holds my interest long enough to finish. I have started probably 3-5 blankets in my life and never finished a single one 😬
Hi I'm disabled an love crocheting but have a hard time getting yarn I don't get much money I'm looking for frree yarn weather it's scrap balls or full skins plz get back to me
Can we get a tour of your aunt’s yarn room? 😂 I want to admire the beautiful yarn even if it’s just through the screen ❤
Haha she would NEVER allow that- it’s a mess! Plus she lives 7 hours away, so I only get to see her about once a year 😢

Holy smokes, Noro yarn is some high-end stuff. Even $25 for 18 skeins was a steal. Where I live, Kureyon is usually 10€ for one 50g skein. Nice find!
Right!?
It wasn't $25, was it? That's not how I heard it
@@DawnaLovesYarnI heard 125🫢

Sewing thread also works if she doesnt want to increase the thickness in any notable way but wants sturdyness! My nana does this all the time

Beautiful noro yarn. The great thing about them is you can mix them together. It turns out gorgeous.
Like shawls, or asymmetrical scarves, or socks
ooooo love this idea!
Your sweater is beautiful. You can make a lot of stuff out all that yarn.
Thank you! 😊
Noro silk garden is so nice, silk, mohair, and wool. 3 weight, nice for shawls, neckwear, hats, light jackets.
I think there are 56 skeins of yarn. Whoa, I was so far off. Can't wait to see what you will make.
You know what they say: Whoever dies with the most yarn wins!

What a generous auntie.
Those Noro yarns could be wound differently making them look different colors. What a find!
It’s a roving type of yarn it’s goes from thick to thin. It’s a very expensive yarn but easy to use.
On the Kureon yarn . . .it is best to sew together with a regular yarn
The yarn is all very beautiful!!
OMG I am so jealous of the noro
The headband iscute.
Your Aunty gifted you a gold mine. You need to knot her a lovely cardigan 😂
Right!? Love her so much 🥰
Hum with the big bag stuffed I'd say you got some where between 100 and 110 skeins.
One skein is wonder! You could make a pair of fingerless mittens with Noro yarn
Love this idea!
This was tun, you Are fun!
The difference in size on the yarn is called roving...can make some really cute stuff
Definitely! I’m currently using it to make a vest and it’s super cute
Did did you make your sweater? Pattern and yarn if available. Kevin cute as always 😻

The Noro yarn is Roving yarn. When it goes from thick to thin
Roving style yarn dealing with natural fiber. It’s indestructible but don’t put it in washer.
It will felt and shrink.
