I have tried making “plarn” out of grocery bags. It is used to crochet mats for the homeless. It was hard on my hands to crochet with but such a cool idea! I look forward to seeing other ideas on your channel.

Just watched this video and i totally know how the catastrophe feels. We had a neighborhood cat sneak into our backyard while our 3 dogs were out there and they went after him. My boyfriend and I were trying to save him and i grabbed him and he climbed on top of my head and dug in with his nails. As i tried to pull him off he dug in deeper and i think he also bit my head. My boyfriend finally pulled him off(so painful) and i definitely bled. We tossed cat over our fence and i immediately went in and cleaned with alcohol and peroxide (oooouuucchh) and was painful for about a week. He got my hands, wrists, face and head. Healed nicely with no er visit. Hope yours healed nicely.

Good luck with your organizing/destashing. I've been working through that too! Here in Canada, and I am guessing in your country also, there is a law prohibiting the use of used materials in items sold for children. All materials must be new. Maybe save the recycled stuffing for pillows or other things for your own home.

I do the same thing with my dog toys.

Definitely give yourself a month or three month challenge to use up your stash! <3 Always a great way to be sustainable is coming up with ideas for what you have already.

Love this. Happy new year! Sustainable goals are amazing-so happy to hear this. I’d keep in mind that it’s not black and white. Natural fibers still go through manufacturing processes that aren’t sustainable. While microplastics in acrylic aren’t great, it’s more *financially* sustainable and usable by people with wool allergies and other fiber sensitivities. All this to say that consuming less and implementing practices to improve your sustainability are amazing, AND there’s no single right way to do it. 😊 I recommend the channel Breathing Yarn; Isabella is great in how she talks about the nuances of sustainability.

Crocheting things with no stretch like jeans or sheets or even tshirts takes a lot of hand strength, or just work it in short segments. So start out with only a small amount until u decide if you enjoy it.

Personally, after rehabbing a couple of houses, seeing what dogs & cats can do under a carpet & with my allergies, I'd say yuk on repurposing any part of those old toys for people toys. Dog saliva is hard to get off of dishes, let alone off of fabric or stuffing. Id say follow your plan but only use the stuffing to make animal toys - NOT FOR PEOPLE. Then you can also wash the fuzzy outter toy & reuse it also, again only for pet toys. Actually, you sjouls really disclose that you nake tjings in a pet friendly home. Animal allergies can be ve just as dangerous as peanut allergies. FYI: i have a cat, used to have 3. But I also work in a pet free zone & only have hard surfaces on my floors & clean lots.

Great video. I have found old wool sweaters at Value Village, and Goodwill that I have unraveled and made into different items. You might want to look there for sustainable yarn if you like. 😊

I buy my crochet thread from the thrift store. Theres a lot there from people who give up on crochet thread. 😊

Lion brand remake, is great sustainable yarn, and wool ease remake. It's all recycled yarn.

Happy New Year! I loveee this and I'm excited for you! I found an alpaca hand dyed farm in NC near me called Rainbow Magic Alpaca Farm. Veryyyyy nice. They even have Alpaca yoga and tai chi. I saw a reel repurposing this BEAUTIFUL queen sized blanket made into a cardigan. It had flowers in the middle and a beautiful border. The border turned into the sleeves and the motif in the middle was her back and front panels.

Question: Do you always crochet with you cat on your lap? I was told by people in crochet groups not to crochet with them near you because people could be allergic to them. I was always freaked out about that so I don’t let my fur pups in my CraftCave. Which they aren’t happy about either. 😂

Tasha, I am new to your podcast. I have a question: Are you having fun yet? I can’t tell. Your grin is so big all I see are the curves on the corners of your mouth and your pretty teeth. Your voice makes such a happy sound. Your headbands are beautiful. I made one like that last year and it turned out really pretty. I’ve been thinking of making more. Seeing yours has helped me decide to go for it. I’m planning a booth with two of my daughters this summer during Pride Month. This will be a first for us. Both my daughters do beautiful crocheting and they also paint. One of them is an art teacher at a Challenger school. 😊
