- In this dramatic transformation, see how designer Jaclyn Harper gave this 20-year-old family home a much-needed facelift. Along with Foxwood Custom Homes, Jaclyn created an open-concept layout by knocking down walls and removing unnecessary columns. She gave the main living space a refresh with an elegant tonal furniture (including a dog-friendly, stain-resistant couch), colorful artwork and moody paint. You’ll love the eat-in kitchen’s concrete-like slab and butcher-block island, the dining room’s handsome built-in bookcase and the principal bedroom’s showstopping four-poster bed. Plus, see how Jaclyn used statement tile to add visual interest to the bathrooms.

I don't think I've ever seen an overlay of islands with the butcher block overlapping the look alike concrete slab. The amount of space yet visual interest that creates is astounding. It's like the perfect juxtaposition of elements. I really love it!
This is absolutely spectacular! I love that the designer knows how to incorporate contrast and the latest trends while keeping some traditional elements and making it both sophisticated and fun! More of this, and this designer, please! 👩🎨
Scott you are amazing!!! Thanks for the love. I so appreciate your kind words.
Wow! Okay, I admit it, I began to drool watching this segment... Beautifully done without feeling like a showroom but instead a home that dazzled... Great job, well done...
Id rather have a showroom type house if I hired a designer.
Great job! It's not easy transforming '90s architecture into something so beautiful and modern. It makes me curious about the exterior!
The faux-wood tile reminds me of a sauna. Overall, the transformation is modern and yet homey. Great job.
Stunning. Love that it has dark walls in some rooms, and color color everywhere without being too overwhelming. .
Beautiful beautiful amazing outstanding 👌👌💕🥰 stay connected ❤️
This house is reeeeeeeeally old, a whole 20 years!
lol i know i was like what? really?
To me it is, my house is 8 years old
And everything was so dated until we showed up)))
Yeah waaaay back in 1999 😂
And here I am living in my late grandpa’s 1970’s home..
Beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful! Absolutely beautiful!
Take a drink every time she says beautiful 😂😂😂
I thought the same thing.... yikes lol. Can't go back and change it now. Thanks for the comment.
@@JaclynHarper-HD the transformation was beautiful 😘♥️
@@JaclynHarper-HD Wow! An actual response from the actual designer. Thanks for your gracious response to "beautiful" comment.
B•eau•ti•ful idea! LOL
Take a drink when she says 'Modern'
This home is simply stunning. I love every single room. Well done , truly fab! :-)
Dawn you are a gem. In a world with so much negativity... thank you so much for the kind words. I so appreciate it!
Lucky homeowners, it’s beautiful!
I thought so too but I'm a bit biased. Thanks so much for the kind words Sherri. Really appreciate it.
Well done. Though not my style, I can appreciate cohesiveness. You did a really good job here.
This house is absolutely beautiful! 😍
I like it when they add black to the kitchen anf some color to the dining room. And the art also...
So many people have the “before”style of home. How inspirational to see this transformation!
I couldn't click the "LIKE" button fast enough..
I really love this home & the narration, thank you for telling us where some of those awesome items were from! I feel like it's quite strange to have ALL of the artwork hanged so low, but to each their own! The orange lamp... I love lamp!
Beautiful 😍
Gorgeous!
“You could pour a glass of red wine and it would pool and puddle right off”...ON TO A WHITE RUG
This made me laugh out loud haha. Yes, they might not want to test out that experiment. The sofa is safe but the rug might not be. Thanks for the comment ;).
My thoughts exactly.
A white rug for me would be a complete cleaning nightmare, plus it would give me a constant anxiety about it getting stained.
John Cawood at least u won’t have to replace or both or have both professionally cleaned
I thought the exact same thing haha!
The master bathroom looks amazing
You're a gem.Thanks so much!
Beautiful !!!!! Its lovely to see something that is not another white house or kitchen
Thanks so much for the kind words. Really appreciate it.
Wow! The homes that are referred to as "bungalows " in Canada are always nice and spacious! I always think it's going to be the size of a tiny house. But I like what was done here! The before and after is amazing!
Thank you so much,. In Canada, well in Ontario at least, bungalows are one storey homes. Some of them can be VERY wide and spacious lol. So appreciate your comment. Thank you so much!
@@JaclynHarper-HD thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it!🙂
I can’t agree more with the designer.. It really is beautiful!
This is one of my most favourite transformations ever. Can I move in tomorrow ?
Carl you're a sweetheart. Thank you so much for the kind words. I want to move in too lol.
yes you can
Love this!!To use her fav word,Beautiful!
Beautifully done. Each room gives me inspiration for my home.
Love everything about this home, Great job!
You are so kind. Thanks so much Eva. Really appreciate your feedback.
My eyes immediately locked in on the large colorful painting behind the couch in the living room. Now that's what I call a pop of color!!! Love it!! It's not even listed on the Upcountry website, so sad!!
It was a custom piece by a local Toronto artist. My clients loved her work and I can see why. Thanks so much for the kind words.
And now imagine that painting is not there. The place all of the sudden looks like an office, hospital or whatever.
So beautiful 😍😍😍
Your home is beautiful....
Bungalows must mean something different in Canada. I’m used to seeing short squat brick buildings in the states...not cathedral ceilings. Then again a made this comment last year about H&H videos....every home they showcase has 20ft ceilings. But the home is beautiful regardless.
Thanks so much for the comment. Bungalows here in Canada (in Ontario anyways) just mean a one storey home. I was lucky this home had those beautiful vaulted ceilings in the living room :). Really makes things feel grand. Appreciate the kind words.
@@JaclynHarper-HD same in the uk
On trend is not "superb," but timeless design is . . . sublime. If you have to redecorate fully every 10 - 15 years, you're not decorating smartly. Go for timeless classics and then you can change out a few things now and then just to freshen the space, but still keep the integrity of your own style.
Love everything!! Especially that dog
Isn't he cute!? I wish I could take credit for him but nope lol. He's just 100000% adorable all on his own. Thanks so much for the comment Janet.
I could live in that beautiful home - with the cute doggo, please😁
I love it!
Wow! i just love what she did with the bathroom. Great work.
Thank you so much! So appreciate your kind words.
Wow! This is one of the best projects that I have seen in this page! Great Job!!!
Reallly nice❤❤❤
We brought this beautiful table...we painted this beautiful black...and install this beautiful window...Everything is beeeeaaaauuutiiiiiful! Like really really beautiful! 😁
Love it, especially the dark gray wall
Love the white and gray sectional.👍👍😀
Omg , just like my kitchen , the white sofa 👍👍 I been looking for the same white sofa for months!!!!!!
Lovely 😊
Gorgeous home. I love it.
Nice Lines~looks so fresh and bright and pretty! Very nice design work!
Beautiful! I am searching for the lovely rug that was selected for the peachy bedroom with
sloths!
Love everything but the master bath combination. The faux wood ton doesn’t jive well with the cement tiles for me... a more pale or gray toned wood tile would be more appropriate....other than that superb 👏🏽
Thanks so much for your comment Damian. I so appreciate it.
Beautiful
Stunning design.
This remodel looks amazing!! I am surprised there is a TV on the wall that is proportioned to the room. Usually interior decorators do one of two things with TVs:
1) No TV at all!
2) Put a TV on the wall that is entirely too small for the space
There is a lotta black paint used in this home! Ceiling and walls. I am really surprised a family with kids were taking so many risks. It's definitely not a boring home. Yet, at the same time, it's not too over-the-top as well. It's a modern, cozy home. Jaclyn did a nice job.
Bungalow has a specific meaning to me: as in “Arts and Crafts” bungalow or “Craftsman” bungalow - homes built from the 1900s to the 1930, an architectural style that started in the US on the west coast and spread across the country. It was one of the most popular housing styles in history as it featured front porches, overhanging gabled roofs, and generally were small yet inviting.
The concrete box bathroom is superb have not seen anything like that!
Love the art work.
Wow love the outcome...even your house is a bungalow which I really love rather than a big big two or three storey house. All spaces are well used from dining kitchen and living room.
Beautiful...beautiful...beautiful! 🤣🤣🤣
I vowed never to own a white couch again....this changes everything!
I like the colors in those paintings
Dynamic makeover!
beautiful beautiful beautiful waaah im in love 😍
I love it!!!!!💗💗
Just simply beautiful ❤️👌
You are so kind. Really appreciate your comment. Thank you!
Jeez, that place looks amazing, great work! Just bought a condo and will "borrow" a few of these ideas if that's okay ;)
Absolutely gorgeous! And the dog is the cherry on top 😍
You're a total sweetheart. Thanks so much for the kind words. Couldn't agree more about Koda (the dog). Just WAYYYY too cute. Makes everything 10x better lol.
@Pod Isn't it gorgeous!? It's from Cocoon in Oakville. That's the Baker Four Post Bed. Thanks so much for watching!
That master bathroom is my dream!
I love it too :). Thanks so much for the sweet words. There's too much negativity online. You're a gem!
Beautiful homes too
Love it - such a transformation! I wasn’t a fan of the tan faux wood tile in the shower tho....
One of the bests in this Channel ! 👏
Your hairstyle and the way you describe design reminds me Cheryl Eisen style so much! ;) I really like this makeover and I like Cheryl approach as well. Great job! ;)
Beautiful home 😍
I'm here for the background music too😍😍
Stripper pole in the middle! My kind of home!
Beautiful home
Love it! So chic and hip.
Amazing
One word "wow"!
Wonderful!
Love except for black pole! Everything else is beautiful!
I agree! I hate seeing those structural poles right in the middle of the floor 😣
Wow beautiful, great work!
Thank you so much! So appreciate your comment.
I love the light floors throughout the whole space. Everything is very clean looking. This doesn’t appeal to my personal taste, not enough color, but in terms of opening up the room well done.
That neutral modern look was popular in the 1990s.
Nice job keeping up with trends.
this is a great renovation
Beautiful job❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful design! Outstanding choice of finishes and furniture. I love the texture, the girls' rooms are really beautiful, and that den is spectacular!
My only question would be the entry way. Why install a random pole? A beautiful column, a wall even would have been great IMHO.
Still, great work!
How many times did she say BEAUTIFUL?
It could be a drinking game ... I know lol. Thanks so much for the comment.
But it really is beautiful
beautiful, nice decor
I love the kitchen backsplash, can you give me the infos . Thanks
Loved this home. Where’s the bed from in the master?
I want her to showcase the wine resistance of this sofa...
I have the Krypton fabric on my sectional and it really does work. The manufacturer embeds some crazy product in the fabric during the weaving process. It's amazing! My sectional is 5 years old and doesn't have a stain on it yet.
@strongforu What about your white rug? How is it faring?
every time she says beautiful it's like "beauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuutiful"
So beautiful good job 👍
This very cute and cozy
Thanks so much! Appreciate your kind words.
Well done, furnishings are outstanding. I for one am beginning to tire of the all white walls. (I was glad to see the gentleman ‘s gray.
Thanks so much Darwin! I love a dark moody wall. Brings so much character to a home :). So appreciate your feedback.
Love it!
Thank you so much! So appreciate your comment.
Love the bathroom
Nice Design
How awesome!
This lady knows how to talk... she should have her own TV show.
everything is sooooo beautiful, gorgeous, fun, full of character and modern that it will have to be rearranged again, in 5-7 years, at no cost at all. Well, $50K perhaps, no biggy...
