  • TIME is an exploration of Lefty Kreh’s legacy with some of the sport's greatest living legends. Flip Pallot, Blane Chocklett, and Bob Clouser explore the backwaters of inland Florida- one of Lefty’s favorite fishing areas- and discuss how Lefty’s presence influenced their own trajectories in a life of fly fishing.
    -
In 2019 the American Museum of Fly Fishing contacted us to work on a special project, that would shine a light on their fantastic organization, and also introduce them to a younger audience. Lefty Kreh had passed away a few months prior to this conversation, and he was someone we wanted to focus on for the project. In our first conversation with Flip about the project he talked about how fragile Time was, and we knew this would end up being a centerpiece to the project. When everything was organized we put together an all-star crew and spent a few days in Flip's backyard reminiscing about the old days, and talking about the new days and the future of fly fishing. To date, this has been one of the most meaningful projects we have worked on, and would like to thank everyone involved with helping this project come to life!

Thanks for sharing this poignant video. Lefty was my uncle, and I was so fortunate to have him around. Flip's honesty about Time couldn't be more vital and true. He is a class act, and I am grateful for the moments with my uncle captured on film and tape throughout the years.

Just freaking awesome.....I’m leaving Texas with my wife 1/16/2021 in which we will be towing a brand new Hewes 21 Redfisher down to Islamorada to Angler house Marina. We are going to get a bite of the dream...we will be making rods and tying flies...we are done talking and watching other people’s dreams....now we will be leaving a dream...I hope I get a 10th of what these legends have experienced.

Roy, I wish you and your wife nothing but great success. I fished Islamorada with my first wife, Carolyn many times in the early to mid 80's out of Bud and Mary's Marina. Guided to our first Bonefish each right there on Shell Key. Tarpon in Channel 2 & 5. And hooked a large Snook somewhere deep in some Mangroves.
It ate a SLUGO designed for Largemouth and my Guide almost fainted when I set the hook. But... like all BIG Snook, it turned 180 and took me back into those tangled mangrove roots and cut me off. We all had a good laugh at my expense.
If your Bride enjoys fishing with you, your halfway to heaven already. Take care of her and tell her I said hello. I miss my Carolyn terribly.

I’m from Tasmania, Australia. My great uncle was a fly fishing guide. 30 years ago he taught me, and part of this was giving me a VHS called Lessons with Lefty. What a great tool for a budding fly caster. He was as equally good an orator as he was fisherman. I’m thankful for the lessons from my uncle, and Lefty. Both have now passed, but their legacy will live on.
    Tight lines everyone.

Flip has always enthralled me with his knowledge of all things Salty... I've never had the pleasure of meeting him but still regard him a close friend if that makes any sense. After my first day of Fishing the flats of Islamorada in 1983, I fell headfirst in love with Backcountry Fishing. I asked my Guide if I would ever enjoy freshwater fishing again and he said "I hope so..." it's what brought you here...

    Well said.
So, a year ago I started fly fishing. I came across a youtube video and I was curious, to say the least. I wanted to do it. I found a guy on fb market place, lived here in Texas, pretty close to me, baby on the way, was selling some gear that I could afford. I picked up the skills pretty quickly and soon outgrew that rod. Now I have a small collection of Lefty Kreh's Signature II rods. I continue to hear his voice as I'm casting, as if he was standing next to me in the water, telling me to lock my elbow and wrist and to use my body.
    Thank you for this video.

    Hey Flip,
From Flamingo up to Coot Bay Pond, into Coot Bay, then up into White Water Bay.
Running NE up in very small waterways, then had to lay down in the rental skiff,
Then into a opening of running water of a open small bay. You ❤ know where I was at 11 years ago, you have been there, more times than me. But the Photo in your heart, is still there. The Guide was out of Flamingo, John Singleton. Dad had rented one of those red and Gray on the inside 24ft skiffs, Dad brought his 20 hp Mercury outboard ,. At 70 as you said, we have less time in front of us , but a life time for great fishing stories behind us.
John Singleton said that we were in Hells Bay, when we got back to the dock, he showed us on the the big map on the wall. Dad is gone, but fishing Cayo Casta Key , on the outside SW corner. One of the Tarpons on the walls of the Tarpon Lodge, is for Hells Bay, Flip.
Would love to talk to you or Rob, so we don't lose our Love of fishing and History of the Glades. Thank you Sr. For your time.
    Don Smith

A loving tribute to a remarkable man. It is my strong belief that Lefty is at the top of the heap of ambassadors for the sport. A true gentleman who had a heart big enough to teach my nine year old daughter (whom he had never met) to cast a fly rod at Bob Marriot's shop 25 years ago. Neither she nor I will ever forget that day or the man who made the dance comprehensible to a child. Flip is doing a wonderful job of carrying the torch.

My Greatest moment with Lefty was when he came to my clubs' annual picnic and gave his famous casting demonstrations. when he asked for volunteers, I jump up and grab the rod. So, I'm flinging the rod back and forward And I'll forget what he told me with that fantastic smile of his. He said to me " That ok son: If I threw a back cast as ugly as that, I wouldn't want to look at it either " one of the best days of my life that i will never forget.
