Love this sturdy mast indeed and what a story
Nice story Justin , and very great colection bravo .
I also have a gemlap faceting mast on my homemade faceting machine. It is brass like the one in the video, but has a silver-colored metal shaft for attaching the dops. I don't have the round-cutting attachment but the indexing wheel is different. Mine is indexed for 96 steps and it is removable. I plan to take a 3D CAD course at a local maker space and try to fabricate a few different index heads. Mine doesn't have the same history, of course.
Hi Justin. A friend of mine who is a huge fan of Gemlap lapidary equipment just sent me a link to this video. I did not know that Gemlap made a faceting machine. I do have one of their flat laps and two different models of saws that they made. One of those trim saws is my favorite trim saw and I use it all the time. They were made in Ferdale, Michigan.
Thanks so much for the great video!!
I have an old B&I Gemaker. It had a faceting attachment that I do not have but if you would like the base it is yours for the asking. It does have a vise for a stone that swivels into a saw blade.
Yes that would be great. Can you send me an email. Justinkprim at gmail.com
That is super cool stuff! If you have to be locked down , that is a good distraction for sure! Lots of stuff to learn about . presentations to consider , the general organization of your display...i find the instruments and cutting techniques to be almost as interesting as the gemstones and minerals themselves.
Very Cool
what is the situation gem business ahead ,sir
A lot of stress for some, new success for others. That’s my best guess.
