this is huge for me. i love this game but i have a disability and can't use mouse+keyboard i have about 500 hrs in the game with controller through Steam controller mapping, and I'm just glad the team has gone the extra mile to make the game more accessible for people like me
This is super, duper neat. My only issue is that a lot of the stuff that gets introduced to the game is really half-baked and I would've rather seen them introduce/flesh out the d-pad movement and re-bindable keybinds before they went live with this, because first impression matters A LOT.
I don't feel this is half baked, which is really impressive, it's super fast to switch between controlelr and keyboard and mouse and the system just handles it. Plus PlayStation controller support too.
No disrespect but it is half baked we can not map yet this is huge problem for a large portion of players! This setup lowers my combat apm significantly compared to a eso type setup. I know at least 5 people having to take an unwanted break now because of this. There is a simple solution allow us to shut off native controller support until we can remap. Thanks for your time if you see this.
Im honestly scared now. So many different things... I took your controller presets and i fine tuned them to my liking. Consumable is just tapping the dpad and i even do music.😅 Relearning things again will be a painful few days
I really hope this works. I just downloaded it and it didn’t let me choose anything for my controller. I’m recovering from surgery and can’t sit on a keyboard and mouse setup. This made me very sad cause I’ve been wanting to try this game out again
@@AmezingCreates I just realized that it's not out yet, it's coming officially with Season 5 which was supposed to have been out on the 12th and got pushed a bit, but I played it for around two hours just now, and I know you just had surgery but you should definitely give it a chance, even if you have to wait til season 5 drop, if I remember I'll come back and let you know if you want and aren't around for it
@@NyxSunspot I really did try to play it today. It was like everytime I would watch a RUclips video I’d have to get up and go to my keyboard and I ended up just in more pain and gave up. I don’t understand how people get it to work but it could have been just me being easily annoyed. The intro of the game seemed like it would scratch all the itches I had for a new game with lots of sword combat and now wolf mounts ! Just gonna heal up and try again. Last login was 2021 before today 💀💀

Could also be the case were you might need to use the default xbox template. But I just completely disabled. Amazon probably need to integrate controller with steam better.
Their controller layout sux compared to what I built and played for 2 years. I built mine to match ESO on consoles. Wish I could turn theirs off now, because their auto controller detection is overpowering my xpadder and it doesn't function combined on PTR....sadly I may have gotten screwed until we can keybind our own controller setup
Don't know if anyone else has asked but have you figured out how to split stacks with the controller? I've been trying to figure out how to do it all day with no luck and can't find anything online about how to do so.
@@gingerlovesmmos thanks! I was talking to another guy on New World official discord and he was looking into it also and I guess it’s been messed up for a couple months. I can get as far as it showing the split stack but the act of grabbing it and moving it won’t do anything.
Thank god for the target lock and magnetism, the controller right now requires so much skill for aiming haha. so excited!!! finally controller support!!!!!
I prefer my steam mapping and have noticed a issue where my character will get locked in place randomly has anyone else experienced this if so do u know a solution to it
@@gingerlovesmmos so the only way it works is if I start from big picture mode using a controller. But now the client won’t authenticate so now I’m watching a stupid amount of videos to try and fix this new issue to even play at all
wow that was bad its more or less steam mapping controller support they are still using a mouse but on controller if you want a way to do controller mapping right then look at final fantasy 14 there controller support is the best or elder scrolls online if they hope to get console players on board there should be no half baked mouse on the controller and menu should be navigated with the d-pad. with this its just barely playable on controller for a Alpha its not bad but needs a lot of work before a console release. on that note the game is good. its no guild wars 2 or final fantasy 14 but I could see it being a better world of Warcraft. the story so far is a 6 out of 10 engaging but nothing to write home about. the combat is 8 out of 10 but it looks like a 2 out of 10 until you try it. the world graphic design is a 10 out of 10. the endgame I hear is very lacking with almost nothing meaningful to do. the crafting system is a 10 out of 10. have not tried the dungeons or raids or pvp yet but I can tell you its worth getting it if its on sale like now.

For myself, I did find that I needed to "Disabe Steam Input" in the steam game controller settings. Controller acted strange when enabled.
Good to know, I didn't even think about that, as it just worked out the gate for me, but yes, perhaps that is some of the bugs I've reported.

My controller (ps5) will not work. I just got done with dragons dogma 2, works fine on it. Booted up new world and nothing. Is this a common issue?
Be sure to disable steam controller support to have it not conflict with the native XI troller support

I haven't tested with a PS4 controller (it might need some extra software DS4Windows for example) I tested with a PS5 and it worked great.
