To seeing him always putting the crew first even when hes going through the loss of his sister. To proving himself on the Cornelia Maria when Sig and Phil traded sons. I really wish he'd come back to the light.

God poor Jake dude. Honestly has had the biggest ups and downs maybe other than Sig. When he was helping Sig over in sweeden, he seemed happier and a little bit relaxed compared to being the Saga and the bering sea.
I’ve been where Jake is. He needs help. I never knew that’s how I looked and played it off like I was clean. For the sake of his family and crew I genuinely hope he gets the treatment he needs.

The captain was a drug addict who stopped using over a decade ago. This job ages you twice as fast as it normally would. Chain smoking, sleep deprivation, and bad diet makes it all worse.
@EJK k I've been clean from opiates for 17 years, once you have been there you can see it clear as day, he fell off the wagon. I used to work 4 double shifts in the newspaper printing union, so Sunday to Wednesday no sleep but $72/HR for overtime was too good to say no. So been there done that, he needs to clean up again.
It would have cost a fraction of the price and no time lost just to pay for a flight for him... probably get Tommy back quicker too.

I don't even watch this show much anymore. After Phil died that was too much. Keith and Jake have real anger issues. I know it's a stressful job but damn he just jumped on his chair like a 3 year old temper tantrum. He was saying Tommy was doing good and now because he has somewhere else to be Jake is getting madder by the minute. It would of been nice for Tommy to give him a heads up. This would have been discussed before Tommy joined the boat. The Dungy fishery is a big fishery down here on the WA and OR coast. There are small planes in-between St. Paul Island and Dutch Harbor. Also have to remember this show is Sooo Staged these days, it's really insulting and disgusting to the viewers intelligence.

I get soo tired of seeing Jake loose his cool. He creates most of his own issues. Whenever you see Jake asking another boat for help, he never sticks the the agreed upon terms of the alliance. It's always something with Jake and he goes way over the top. I'm surprised Sig still has hair on his head. Obviously Jake has skills and can get the job done, he is one immature caption. There is a lot more to being a good Captain than just being on the helm yelling, cursing at the crew and behaving like a toddler. Also Jake's uncle is a long time deckhand on Sig's boat, so it's a bit of who you know, who you're related to, not necessarily how good you were to begin with. Jake had some help.

I'm missing something: since it's Tommy the deckhand who is cutting loose of his own volition, why should Jake be obligated to go out of his way to drop him off at Dutch Harbor? They were on land, Tommy should be able to get on a bus or taxi or whatever and go to DH on his own dime.

I believe it's part of the agreement between the deckhands and the captain. The captain is legally obligated to get his deckhands to the harbor where they were hired with all of their gear. Like a captain can't just fire a person in the middle of the ocean and say get in a lifeboat.
