The Holy Spirit always makes me recall scripture. I’ll be dealing with a hateful coworker and suddenly I can read and almost hear the scriptures “love your enemies”, and “whatsoever you would have men do to you, do likewise to them”, and “love your neighbor as yourself”.

So demons and Satan are able to inject thoughts and pictures and words into our minds but we're going to say that God does not? I don't believe The Lord the Holy Spirit talks to us like the Apostles but I doubt that only the evil of the spirit realm is speaking to us. Otherwise, all of the good thoughts and things we think we are saying are of our OWN doing and if man is bent on sin and evil and wickedness, that's simply not possible. But as we are sanctified throughout our natural life, isn't it more plausible that most of our good, righteous thoughts would be that of the Holy Spirit? Like a thought that says go help that person...we can identify if it lines up with scripture or not to test whether those thoughts are of satan or not but I'm sorry i just can't believe the Lord would allow only Satan's army to inject thoughts flashbacks of sin or horror or ALL of the twisted things our minds can come up with. I believe the Holy Spirit has just as much if not more affect on our minds especially as we're regenerate repentant and born again by Him......I'm not trying to debate and im kindly just offering my opinion here I just think and feel strongly that Satan should have no more power than the Lord allows and if we say we believe that God won't speak to us, we are in trouble.....I know He doesn't give scripture to people that's not what I'm saying but in decision making and in times of comfort and times of life where we might need A word from Him, He certainly uses His word yes, but He also has His spirit providing thoughts that are OPPOSED to Satan's will and help us in our everyday walk with Christ

    Man oh man...
God dropped such a heavy bomb on me a couple of weeks ago. He brought my pride before me and was showing me how self-centered I've been.
It's not even like I've been overtly prideful. It's been very subtle and quiet. Very internalized and seeping out slowly through my actions.
The Lord had me in tears and heaviness like I haven't felt before.
The Holy Spirit said, "READ PSALMS 36".
Then he said "SPECIFICALLY THE SECOND VERSE".
Mind you I had never never read this before.
So I turn to Psalm 36:2...
"FOR WITH HIS FLATTERING OPINION OF HIMSELF, HE DOES NOT DISCOVER AND HATE HIS INIQUITY."
    😭😭😭
I was crushed into a million pieces.
We all know we're sinners but when God really shows you just how bad it is and how far from the mark you are it humbles you like nothing else.
The Holy Spirit definitely speaks to us. Amen! 🙏

In 1981, I was driving southbound on College Avenue in Fort Collins Colorado speeding somewhat and changing lanes just like everyone else. Then out of nowhere, I heard the Lord speak, not audibly, but such that I could discern every word. He said, "From now on, I want you to obey the speed limit".
I am an avid cyclist and in 1992, I was riding my road bike around the loop in the Air Force Academy. As I went down the long straight hill by the B-52, I got into a tuck and quickly picked up speed. I looked down at my bike computer. It said 55 mph. Again, out of nowhere, I heard the Lord speak, not audibly, but such that I could discern every word. He said, "I don't want you to ever do that again. In fact, I want 30 mph to be your top speed on a decent."
I have obeyed the Lord on these two commands to me since. I obey the posted speed limits while driving and I never go over 30 mph on a decent on my bike.

Citing what the Bible actually says about how the Holy Spirit works, and giving concrete examples directly from the OT and NT as to how the Holy Spirit worked on individuals in the past and promises of how He will work on individuals in the future, would be helpful. For example, somewhere in the NT it says that the HS will bring some things (presumably that had been forgotten) to mind. Also I believe the NT says somewhere that the HS helps us know what to pray for. In the OT sometimes the HS "came upon" certain people and directed what they were to say. I wish I could give chapter and verse. But the only inferences we can make, I think, come from the Bible.

Anything I "hear" that is not in accordance with crucifying my flesh and cooperating with the sanctifying work of the Spirit needs to checked, if disregarded.
As we mature and learn to walk by the Spirit, we don't have to question every single decision we make. That's part of "the glorious freedom of the children of God" referred to in Romans 8.
Also, we must not downplay the importance of regular if constant Christian fellowship. We all have blind spots and unique gifts to share with one another. That is definitely a benefit to the ministry on this RUclips channel, but let's not forget to gather together! It's easy to hide sin and selfishness when the extent of one's Christian interaction is through technology.

This discussion looks for me like putting an elephant into a small glass.
Limiting the capabilities of God to our tiny horizon of knowledge means to puts God on the same level as us humans, as His creation, which strips off all the holiness from Him. He simply becomes a better human but not the “ l am! “.
“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.””
    ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19‬:‭26‬ ‭NIV‬‬
I personally heard the Holy Spirit talking to me even before I became a Christian. God can talk! But we also have to consider that satan is imitating God and deceiving people as you can see in the charismatic movement which doesn’t follow the biblical guidelines.
The Holy Spirit is a counselor or an advocate and not a power you can use like you use like electricity. Today is so much confusion in this world because we are more focused on what we want rather than what God wants. We don’t need theoretical discussions about our thought about but more discussion with God if we are true disciples. Maybe this would change the world much more…

The simple answer is yes He does. God didn't write a book and all of a sudden became mute. He speaks in MANY ways and I absolutely love all the ways He speaks. Of course He will never contradict His word, if you get a voice that contradicts the Word of God then that's not God's voice. He lives within us, He joins Himself to our spirits to where we become One Accord. There are instances where He has spoken from within and rises up to my mind in the form of a thought. The Incomparable Holy Spirit speaks to our spirits which in turn bubbles up to our conscious mind, He speaks in our emotions and feelings, He can speak and has spoken audibly, He speaks through dreams, visions (either closed or open), He speaks in creation, He speaks in the atmosphere, He speaks in signs, wonders, unctions, nudges or impressions, through His Word, He speaks through other people, so so SO MANY ways God speaks. He has even spoken to me through music. We must not limit Him nor put Him in our finite boxes that simply can not contain Him. There have been many times where He would speak in a thought in my mind and then turn around and confirm what He has said through someone else or a literal sign. ❤‍🔥❤‍🔥❤‍🔥

The Holy Spirit brings things to our mind that allow us to think have thoughts reason, and make wise decisions and discerned the will of God. Romans, 12:2 - so as your mind is being transformed and conformed to the attitude and character of Christ, your thoughts are going to be transformed; so, from that perspective, I believe the Holy Spirit does give me thoughts through the word and renewal of my mind away from the desires of the flesh to fruit of the Spirit🕊️
The scripture say your word I have hidden in my heart so I don’t sin against God. Joshua 1:8 we are to meditate on the word day and night. These are all principals that affect our thoughts. To meditate one must use their mind, The Holy Spirit illumines the mind and the mind produces thoughts.

Yes the Holy Spirit does sometimes tell people things in their thoughts.
As of one gentleman said do not try to limit the Holy Spirit.
In 1985 I prayed and asked God to heal me so that I could sleep. The Holy Spirit said lean your head over the side of the bed. I initially freaked out because I had never heard his voice like that before. I open my eyes looked around the room expecting somebody to be their messing with me . there was no one to be seen.
So I said must be you Lord okay. Eileen my head over the side of the bed 10 to 15 seconds and raise back up and all the congestion was gone immediately. And it stayed gone the entire night and halfway through the next day.
I was a horseshoeer at the time. And I was working on the second to the last horse out there, still remembering holding up the right front leg of a sorrel gilding rasping off his hoof when the congestion came back.
I didn't say anything I just thought.... Lord I thought you healed me.... He didn't say anything either He just brought back to my mind my prayer, word for word....
I had said so I could sleep. He gave me exactly what I asked for.
I believe God was trying to teach me one that he heard my prayer too that he could answer it immediately in specifically and three to pray as Christ prayed nevertheless Father not my will but thy will be done.
So yes the Holy Spirit does talk to us.
I had another instance where the Holy Spirit spoke to me but what he did was bring a verse to mind when Satan was trying to get me to take my life.
I was driving down the road at a time when I was having anxiety attacks spending 10 days a night straight without sleep. On one particular day while driving down this particular road Satan said all you have to do is hit your gas no one will know you did it on purpose. You see the road took a sharp turn to the left about a quarter of a mile ahead of me and there was a huge tree right there in that turn if you kept going straight. I had an f-100 with a 460 engine in it. Right after Satan said that to me the Holy Spirit said, to be absent from the body is to be present with Christ. There is a battle going on between the spirit and the devil.
Maybe some people don't hear from the Holy Spirit because they're not listening

It is certainly agreed that no one earns salvation. It is the free Gift of God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Free, in this sense (Greek) literally means "it cannot be earned."
However, there are those works as a result of Grace.
      Ephesians
2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
God works in us, the good works he had planned for us to walk in, through Jesus. This is so God may Glorify himself through the life of his sons in Christ. So, strictly speaking, these "good works" are not REALLY OURS because we are HIS workmanship, but it is clear God favors obedience and walking in good works because this is HIS Righteousness in the believer!

This is very fascinating to hear people recognized by some as men of God say what they are saying. What they are dancing around and implying without really being aware of it is that Father, Son and particularly Holy Spirit, either no longer exist, or they ceased to have intimate fellowship with their offspring (humanity). They are not presenting God as real, tangible and actually speaking to people and even more, having fellowship with people.
The Word of God is LIVING and powerful, and His name is Jesus. Scripture, although God breathed, does not contain life, eternal life in particular, but points to it, according to Jesus.
You all can have relationship with a dead book all you want, as for me and my house, we will have relationship with the Living God, who absolutely does speak to His people. Actually, I was just speaking with Him a few minutes ago.
How sad that so many people live by a philosophy rather than a tangible relationship.

Beautiful thoughts and we should keep ourselves be well aware about this question.
We should keep asking this question to ourselves. Are these my thoughts or ideas or its this coming from someone else?
Simply, we should remember our thoughts and ideas should match with the Bible. I think this book “Spirit-led Preaching” by Greg Heisler is a good resource to study this subject.

John 15 I Praise God that He poured out the same Spirit in us that was in Jesus when He was physically here on earth. Jesus told us that He would never leave us and He would send us a Comforter. We can do nothing without Him unless we abide in Him and His Word abides in us. Heavenly Father speaks to us through His Spirit because Jesus opened the Way the Truth and the Life. God’s Holy Spirit speaks to us, not contrary but completely according to His Word. “For all those who have ears listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches”

The Donkey Speaks for God That was all that the donkey could take from Balaam because it wasn't the donkey's fault so "Then the Lord opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, "What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?" And Balaam said to the donkey, "Because you have made a fool of me.

God speaking through the donkey was not imparting wisdom, but revealing how disconnected Balaam had become, and how this animal was more obedient than he was who is made in the image of God.
If you still expect donkeys to speak, or anything else for that matter then you miss the fact that His holy word is sufficient and all we need.

Dear Dog Soldier I appreciate your understanding of scripture. But allow me to share this with you, what was marred was the ability to reflect and represent that image, not that the created beings were no longer made in the image of God. The old testament was constantly bringing it up. The image of God is not something that man has, it's something that man is. Not a quality of possession by man but it's a condition established and maintained by the Creator. If man loses God's image in him then he ceases to exist. God's image in man is the only reason he is worth redeeming. I like sharing with you. Thank you for this back and forth it helps us both. Your brother in Christ.
