Mmmm.... the vegetarian food looks so good and healthy, love how they explained everything to you, the women's english is spot on, barely any accent! The sword class looked like a lot of fun too. I love how traditional Japan has stayed while keeping up with the West, actually ahead of the West.
+Astus314 Just find a HEMA(historical european martial arts) club. It's pretty much the same thing but with european swords and different techniques to make use of the better sword designs. You'll probably have much more luck finding a HEMA club in the west, naturally
+♫DemonKing4Lyf♫ There are a couple near London, there's one in Wimbledon I believe. They can be quite pricey though, my Karate Sensei gave me a rough guide on equipment cost quite some time ago.
+gargontar The initial starting point is expensive because you will need a minimum of the gi and hakama, plus a bokken, and then an iaito soon after. Just the kit works out to be around £500 or £600 usually. I've been practicing iaido at aikido of London for nearly 7 years now.
I saw your video with Taylor. You spoke about final cut pro crashing and losing your project. This happens to me too but Final Cut Pro is actually very good at keeping back ups and constantly saving. You need to go into final cut pros back up folder and have a look at it. You may find your missing video.
i could definitely see the difference in martial art experience between you and your friend at the cutting part. You kept your posture throughout the motion without bending over, good job!
Thank you for all the videos, I'm hoping to visit Tokyo next year and I been watching all your videos and it has helped me understand a lot, I'm looking forward to watching more videos before I go. Keep enjoying your time in Japan and I hope have as much fun.
I love all these videos of things to do in Tokyo/area. I've been out here for 6 months and I haven't really found any really awesome/neat things to try in the area! Your videos always give me inspiration for things to on my days off so thank you! :D
Thank you for all the info! I will definitely look into that dojo, and it's really nice to know there's kaiseki options without needing to go to Kyoto!
It was very nice of them to let you film at the dojo. I always thought that places like that would be camera shy but I have know idea why I thought that. I thought you had put the best stuff at the beginning of the video but after seeing all that amazing food I think it was great all the way through. So many mushroom dishes! I LOVE mushrooms! That bit of pumpkin was unexpected. Do they even have pumpkins in Japan? I did not think they were native.
Very cool Sharla! I added another thing to my to-do list in Japan. This may be a stupid question, but are you going to make a Winter Holiday vlog again this year?
Was so much fun adding subs!! I hope more people who is intrested in Japan and doesn't know english can watch it with Hebrew sub and be excited as I ! Great video :)
+Shiverz Yeah I found that really interesting! Apparently lots of vital points are located there so if you cut at that angle they will die instantly :D
It looks as though you two had a wonderful day. The class looked nice and.. fun! XD The restaurant food looked amazing and delicious. Thanks for sharing you day with the rest of us! :)
Got to love onigiri for breakfast this last trip to Japan. Kept eat this warm mentaiko onigiri that was so good. You guys look so awesome in those black outfits! Really badass the way you cut the bamboo. Really impressed with the vegan meal.
Nice video blog! I practice Kendo and Iaido in San Jose, CA. Due to the lack of bamboo in California, we don't get to cut any in our Iaido class. Thanks for the link on the Iaido experience in Tokyo - I will definitely try it the next time I'm there.
oh my gosh Sharla, well done! You look amazing with the sword! So cool. Wow, that restaurant really was so fancy. Everything is so elegantly presented. Oh no, I fail at Sharla quiz question. I forget what it's called xD That is one scary elevator xD
Oof.. didn't think translating would be so tiring XD feels good to have my work shown! I actually learnt a LOT of stuff, about what some of the foods are in Chinese so it's good for me as well~
I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos. I'm a huge fan of Japanese culture and finding your channel has opened up so much for me. Was wondering if you could suggest any other Japanese youtube channels or app. games for tablets and phones. Thank you very much.
Dude, I love living vicariously through your videos. That looks pretty cool! I wish they had milk tea like that for sale in the US, I tried to make it myself but it didn't turn out so hot.
i enjoy evrey second of the Video Thanks for the great videos and ensure that you 're a piece of my life on RUclips Greetings from Germany Danke das du so gute Videos macht, ich geniese jede sekunde davon Grüße aus Deutschland
Love japan and your vlogs, can you make a special vlog about japanese martial arts like (karate, judo, sumo, kendo) would be really interesting. Greetings from Kazakhstan 🙋
I did hybrid kenjutsu (also known as Nihontodo) for about 6 months now, and couldn't really get used to moving with the chokken (fiberglass practice sword). But my individual kihon techniques were up to bat though. Even so, it was really interesting to learn about the principles behind moving and striking efficiently though; the sport being rooted in the warring period where swordsmen could not afford to spend unnecessary time and effort on a single enemy.
did.... did you say... "weird, eh?" when the onigiri.. oh my goodness.. that was the most canadian thing i've ever heard you say???? like?? idk it was precious and made me giggle X3
I love that about Asian vegetarian... some dishes replicate the look, texture and taste of meat that I feel "meat satisfied". My go-to was assorted gluten when I was craving "meat"... or the bags of bbq "towfu" (that's Chinese though) - a savoury beef jerky kind of snack... Chinese & Japanese culture do the best vegetarian in my opinion.
i want to learn how to sword-fight to! it looked super fun! i actually hope to do martial arts sometime. idk if my mom would let me or not but i hope so. and that restaurant looked awesome! it was cool that they spoke english and had an english menu! also i liked how they talked with you guys! they seemed so nice! i wish american restaurants where like this :D
Great video as always! I was just curious but what camera do you use as your vlogging camera Sharla? And does anyone give you any weird looks went you are vlogging in Japan?
The sword class looked like so much fun!
yeah i like to have sword fights if u know what. i mean

+goku Ssjgssj4 what did you mean?
+goku Ssjgssj4 oh...... I see
+goku Ssjgssj4 Are you gay?
It really was!! I definitely want to try it again!!
This is the coolest thing in the world omg
+Rachel & Jun WAS SO MUCH FUN
I love how Japan cuisine is so artsy!
I always feel bad eating it because so much work was put into it!! :O
Oh wow the food looks so amazing and well prepared
Mmmm.... the vegetarian food looks so good and healthy, love how they explained everything to you, the women's english is spot on, barely any accent! The sword class looked like a lot of fun too. I love how traditional Japan has stayed while keeping up with the West, actually ahead of the West.
Anybody else always feel like waving back when the little cartoon Sharla waves at you and says, "Hey guys!" ? Love these glimpses into life in Japan!
fun day! My arm is still swore, those swords are quite heavy! see you in an hour ;)
Same!! Great workout! \(^o^)/
I do Eishin ryu iaido and I can confirm that you WILL get sore arms from it! haha
+Taylor R テイラー If you want to feel 'focus', practice blocks with live steel. Nothing quite like it.
I wish kendo/laido was popular in the west, looks really fun.
+Astus314 Just find a HEMA(historical european martial arts) club. It's pretty much the same thing but with european swords and different techniques to make use of the better sword designs. You'll probably have much more luck finding a HEMA club in the west, naturally
It's popular where I am. I do shinkendo and eishin ryu iaido

Super fun video! I'm so impressed with the iaido and the meal looked super oishii!

I just saw Sharla on TV! It was a show about a sushi roll artist. I live in Okinawa and it is so cool to see her on TV!!!!
i could definitely see the difference in martial art experience between you and your friend at the cutting part. You kept your posture throughout the motion without bending over, good job!
_"Weird, eh?"_ Love your Canadianisms, hehe. :D
And thanks for showing us such a cool vegetarian/vegan restaurant! It's good to know there are at least a few dining options for us over there. :P
This is SO INTERESTING and was such a beautiful and respectful sharing of cultures (for both parts of the video)
i like around 12min in when Sharla keeps saying "oh yum! oh yum!" its so cute
懐石ですか~~ 久しぶりに見たけど、食パンをモソモソ食べてたころが懐かしいけれど、あの頃より元気そうで何よりでっす。
So I might be doing the sword lesson during my trip in a few days. So yeah, thanks for vloggin this venture :3
Oh my god, when you said "It's weird, eh?" I about died. That was so cute!
Thank you for all the videos, I'm hoping to visit Tokyo next year and I been watching all your videos and it has helped me understand a lot, I'm looking forward to watching more videos before I go. Keep enjoying your time in Japan and I hope have as much fun.
Really enjoyed watching you practice iaido. You seem so natural when making your cuts. I used to practice kendo and naginata 35 years ago.
looks like the old mugai ryu dojo. smells quite ripe in there doesn't it. nice cuts, sharla.
That is correct. I used to train at this dojo before political %*$! reared its ugly head. Very unfortunate to see....
more problems than that i think.
I love all these videos of things to do in Tokyo/area. I've been out here for 6 months and I haven't really found any really awesome/neat things to try in the area! Your videos always give me inspiration for things to on my days off so thank you! :D
Ahh Sharla that was fantastic.. I love your daily vlogs.. Makes me look forward too something once in a while!

Japanese tea and Japanese food is excellent !!!
Nothing but quality gourmet deliciousness. 👌
Thank you for all the info! I will definitely look into that dojo, and it's really nice to know there's kaiseki options without needing to go to Kyoto!

Hey Sharla! :) I really like seeing these blogs, you always manage to make them really interesting and it's nice to see what you get up to!
That was very cool! Thanks for martial arts angle! I hope to see more of them! And the meal looked terrific! I'm jealous of both those experiences.
Wow, the food sure was delicious.
Such a lovely place, the waiter and the chef seemed pretty nice.
Amazing day. The sword class and the food, great cultural experience 😎👍

Just noticed that and you beat me to it 😂
+Gabrielle Justice missed it, no idea what part.
***** Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't write don't the time and now I don't know.

that was an awesome little video. looked like you had great fun chopping that bamboo
That Iaido dojo is definitely going in my to do list, for when I go back. Thanks for the link!
He was so precise about the angle, comparing it with the angle of your kimono. Cool sword slaying skills!
+Shiverz Yeah I found that really interesting! Apparently lots of vital points are located there so if you cut at that angle they will die instantly :D
+Sharla in Japan Aaaaaaw YEYAH! XD Power in one swipe!
It looks as though you two had a wonderful day. The class looked nice and.. fun! XD

So cool! I've always wanted to do Iaido! Can you post a longer version of the class?? PLEASE!
Nice video blog! I practice Kendo and Iaido in San Jose, CA. Due to the lack of bamboo in California, we don't get to cut any in our Iaido class. Thanks for the link on the Iaido experience in Tokyo - I will definitely try it the next time I'm there.

Congratulations :)
Very interesting I learn a lot with these videos. Thank you Sharla!
That class looked like fun, and the teacher sounded like a nice guy. Cool video! :)
Did they let you walk in, sign up and cut something on your first day, or have you been training for a while?
We practiced about three times with a dull blade and then they let us cut! xD;
I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your videos. I'm a huge fan of Japanese culture and finding your channel has opened up so much for me. Was wondering if you could suggest any other Japanese youtube channels or app. games for tablets and phones. Thank you very much.
日本人でもあまり経験できない事をしてて動画見てるのが楽しいです♪
YTFFの時手振ってくれて嬉しかったですよー!
私も嬉しかったです‼︎ ありがとうございます‼︎
The sword class was awesome ! And the food so pretty ! :3 love it!
Good job on the tameshigiri! I tried cutting a pool noodle with my sword and couldn't do it sadly =( I practiced kendo for like 5 years also.
That was a fun Vlog! The food looked terrific!
Video for your typical makeup routine? I love how simple and youthful it looks!

Taylor's eyes are huge
+KatzGoMeow I know, almost alien-like
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that, crazy make up skills or something maybe?

Contacts with populus lens making the osiris leaner with and edge of technology.
