[ASK US; PERMISSIONS Q&A] We’re going to be making a video soon about requesting permissions for building and renovating projects in Spain. What would you like to know? Ask your questions below and let us know what you’d like us to include 💚
We could hire a skip, but it would be quite expensive, and a bit of a nuisance to the neighbours. To be honest we probably would have already filled one at least once, too! So trips to the dump it is 🤷🏻♀️
I have finally caught up to your latest video after binge watching all of them! What a difference you two are making to both your land and your house in the town, great work and I am really looking forward to seeing the next step in your kitchen renovation. Your trees and veggies on your land are doing well, the permaculture way of planting your vegetables is really interesting, so much easier planting into the straw than trying to dig that extremely hard soil you have and having to remove the millions of small rocks and stones, great idea xxx
👀 I hope you don’t think that’s a marble one we pulled out!! It was just old conglomerate concrete. We’d have worked a lot harder to keep it if it had been some kind of stone! 😁
Estaba feo - es posible que no puede ver en el video claramente pero no era piedra, solo era concreto. No estaba hecho muy bien y entonces fue mejor para quitar todo.
You guys have done amaizing job with this demolition, it was enjoyable to watch progress with these little white tiles, it also shows that some materials used decades ago if done by good builder can last forever. Cannot wait for the follow up...
Thank you 💚 Yes, some of the construction over the years is really showing it’s quality and standing the test of time! (Some others not so much 😅) The beams, for instance, are in great condition and we can’t wait to sand them back to their original glory!
Years ago we had tiles around our fireplace in the sitting room but my son who was very young at the time was able to root them up with a knife his dad would have to get a drill to take them away.
Just came across your channel so will subscribe as I am thinking of making the move to Spain for a few months of each year so I am interested to see what you do with the place. Just a thought but might it be cheaper to buy a trailer and take bigger loads to the tip- saving numerous trips?
Thank you. Hope you enjoy following g along. And good luck in realising your own Spanish dream 🥰 Unfortunately there is a limit at our tip of only 10 trugs of rubble per day. So even a trailer wouldn’t really help in this case, as we can fit 10 in the car. Just got to put up with it and make several trips unfortunately!
What kind of permits and inspections to do you have to have there when you're doing a reno? Do they inspect for structural issues when you're removing a wall?
You’re responsible for your own safety for things like that - so we got some opinions from builders etc (but it was very obvious that the wall we wanted to take out was an added entity, and wasn’t load bearing). Mainly the permissions are to inform the town hall, and other residents of works that are taking place. But we’ll be making a video very soon about everything we’ve pieced together from 4 years of off grid and town based projects
Ha I wish it was a stone sink, would have saved us some money! No it was old concrete composite that had cracks through the bottom. Now hunting for a good replacement

How do the requests differ for your land and the house?
No construction dumpsters? What an exciting project! It's good to be young!

Thank you Pauline 💚 The straw bale method definitely seems to be working better to keep in more moisture for the veggies. Glad we tried it!
Demo ....it's looking good already. Big open space looking great 👍 😊
Thank you 💚😁
We had a marble sink in a flat we rented and it was wonderful

Ese fregadero, era una joya, aunque tuviera grietas, eran perfectamente reparables... ¡Qué pena! 😢

Was that a stone sink? I hope not they can be worth up the €1000 apparently! I assume it was some sort of composite.
