I think that's true of most editions, having never lost a tournament match with Eldar. I found the key to playing Eldar and actually having people to play against outside of tournaments is playing a "flavourful" army (and kind of intentionally nerfing your army in the process) That 2nd Edition Eldar Codex truly is the Codex of Evil of its age though
Just as a comment you played the death spinners wrong. The Eldar player rolls to the target covered by the template based on the targets I. The Eldar player adds +1 to the rolls for anything wholy covered. If you roll over the targets I it's pinned. Total roll of 6 always hit. They specify whole covered models are hit on 5+ regardless. Then the target players roll save at -2.. failed rolls result in instant death. Save rolls are considered pinned and autohit.auto hit. Warp Spiders have 3+ save

Ouch, what a massacre! Maybe include a land speeder and/or assault marines next time? Even a whirlwind should help against those Eldar.
