Yeah thanks and that is a flocked board using the same flock as GW sold in baggies in the 90’s from Javis scenics. I would prefer a cloth flocked mat that Citadel released in 6th or 7th edition. Way less messy than I what I did lol
I think that what also helps is that GSC (alongside 'nids and Skaven) have a design language that hasn't really changed since their introduction. As such they all fit quite well together. They're the three ranges whose models I personally like from the '80s to today.
Thanks and yes a second edition table isn’t complete without the cactus plants lol. My tutorial on how I made them is on my channel also if you’re interested in making them yourself.
I just love everything in this video but those genestealers have got to get onto combat quicker! Don't think i have ever seen them fallback before! This is the definitive 40k for me. The paint style amd sculpts of this era just brings up so many memories. Brilliant.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Really taken aback with the number of responses so far. And it’s great to hear from so many people I have not engaged with before in the channel. I’ll be playing the Genestealers on Monday and there will be no falling back I can tell you. Let’s see what the Xenos shock troops can do to marine armor lol
Amazing new format. Also, that shot @1:20 is the most authentic 2nd Ed display of an army I've seen since that one White Dwarf where Captain Tycho got his face melted by the Ork Weird Boy. 11/10.
What a great video! Perfectly encapsulates all that we enjoy about the war gaming hobby and, in particular, these type of minis. I love the character of the old sculpts and the paint. Plus great cinematography! Thanks for
Thanks so much Eric and I think going by the comments so far it made quite the impact which I’m delighted by. It makes me genuinely excited to film the next one which will be Orks v Dark Angels :)
Merci and I love taking people back to the glory days of the hobby. Even for the younger people in the hobby, they find this period really interesting. Thanks for watching my and commenting
Thank you and they were a pure nostalgic please to paint. Just finished the last one today and now they are going to be packed up to send home to their owner. Thanks for watching and commenting
Thanks for using the name suggestions😁 Great batrep, would love to more of this format. Far more engaging than watching every single movement and roll. That being said, I can imagine it take a long time to edit!
I love the names that you and other came up with and will try that again for future videos as I like your input and engagement into the videos. That’s fun!
This was great! I’d love to see a bit more of the board to get a wider view of the tactics. Also love to get to know a bit about the players, and see a bit of ‘drama’. Love the narrative, that GSC needs to be in a display cabinet what a treat!! Well done
Thank you for watching and appreciate your feedback as that’s always helpful. I thought about doing a turn by turn player analysis of how the game was going and what tactics they had in mind given the situation. Maybe for the next one I can think of doing something like that. Thanks again
What a fantastic battle report! 😍 The armies are sumptuously painted, and format is really good too. My only small requests would be a slightly more detailed rundown of each force, and a nice big lingering shot of each army at the start. Really well done, and thank you so much for making and sharing this!
Awesome work I love this kind of videos, I’m really happy to see some good old 40K I kinda give up on the game since years and the recent version will not get me back into it … thanks for the good job 👍
Thanks for watching and it’s never too late to jump back into the older editions. I did and don’t regret a single day in the hobby. Thanks for your comment also.
Thanks for this great battle report. The only thing I didn't understand were the rapid firing scouts around minute 9:00. I thought only fully grown SM could do so. 😍
Excellent work! I enjoy all the battle reports, whether they be in the “guys standing around playing a game and talking” style, or in the more cinematic style. But the hard work you put into this one definitely paid off! Loved it. Great to see you reaching the sweet spot.
Thanks for all your support Chris over the years mate and for your friendship. I hope I can get you over here one day with your wonderfully painted armies to play some MoW and 40K together for the channel. Keeping the dream alive
Great vid, much prefer this format due to the close ups of the models which is the main thing for me! and easier to follow for me with the rules seeing as I don't really play the games with my models. Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks Matt for all your support as a friend and patron to my channel. I really also enjoy the models sometimes more than the gameplay. But building a narrative experience takes away the rules and they are not so important anymore. We could have been playing a different edition but the cards give it away. Cheers mate and the next one is planned already and filming on Monday with Paul.
Wow! Thanks for that. I felt there were a lot of areas that could do with improvement, but it wasn’t a bad first effort in this format. Thanks for watching and commenting
Don't forget Sustained Fire weapons can hit multiple models. Unless I misheard and you grabbed more Brood Brothers off camera from the first turn heavy bolter shots you put all four hits on one guy when you can spread the shots among any number of targets within 3" (I think it's 3. Might be more but I don't have the rulebook on me).
My favourite style of battle report. Well made, good editing. Just recommend less haze and keep the dice rolls/card reveals in 1 consistent space to reduce camera movements.
Beautiful table and armies! Not sure it's wise to play cagey with the terminators - typically they have to march and win their points back. More narratively appropriate, too!
Thanks Richard and if I will the lotto mate book me a place at the second edition gamesday this year for me. Do I need to to bring a tea mug for the event? Lol
Hoping for a response, but I wasnt able to find any special rules for GSC? Everyone else has something but the document I was looking at just had the equipment and units of GSC
They have no special rules as far as I am aware apart from the entries for each unit type in the Tyranid Codex. Looks the GSC were just a faction shoehorned into the book in the end.
@@magicalawnmower4764 yeah they are a cool army and I prefer them over the Tyranid army. And they play well too from what I have seen of them so far. Good luck with starting your own GSC army in the future
You will have to consult with the Fated Farher for that decision as I have no idea tbh lol. It surprised me also but I guess Paul wanted to reserve points and allow me to claim the win if I had caused more than 50% casualties on his broods as they assaulted the marine positions given that the Terminators were in overwatch
Being a Patreon, I cant be disappointed with what you offer here; so many good points. However, not a big fan of the narrative style... Or said another way, bigger fan of classic style with chit chats, laughs, surprises and such. It lacks a bit of the gaming atmosphere though its a lot more immersive. 👍🏼 To each his own.
Hi Turret and thank for your patronage and honest feedback mate. I appreciate that you enjoyed the older format and I do too as well as others. But as I creator I have always wanted to do more narrative style battles but didn’t know how to approach it that way. With Ed’s inspiration it gave me a style that I could accomplish something similar. I will though however post up the older style batreps on Patreon from time to time mate or do live stream games. They are always there but I prefer live streams due to editing hours etc. thanks again mate and happy to see you here :)
See, this is what battle reports should be like! You have literally upped your game!
Thanks so much
Great vintage board. Modern models fit in as could be seen when given an appropriate paint job.
Yeah thanks and that is a flocked board using the same flock as GW sold in baggies in the 90’s from Javis scenics. I would prefer a cloth flocked mat that Citadel released in 6th or 7th edition. Way less messy than I what I did lol

I've forgot how powerful Space Marines are in this edition esp Terminators

Tactical dreadnought armour so close enough
