I really enjoyed that.

A very close game. It was funny watching the Farseer forgetting about his psychic powers and the "sacrifical Ork Warlord". I've always made buildings like the ones in this battle count as high ground in terrain-heavy battlefields, and have pre-stated nearby terrain that normally block line-of-sight instead provide a cover save when shooting into or out of the building. I find it makes them a much more relevant tactical point in the battlefield that is otherwise set up to emphasise short range engagements.

2nd Ed Space Wolves were a massive influence on my life. Sitting in my Uni library when i should have been studying for an end of 1st year exam but actually reading the White Dwarf with Ragnars rules. That exam really didnt go well, which changed the entire course of my academic career. In a bad way lol. Its entirely fair and accurate to say that Ragnar made me the man(child) i am today! Space wolves are 4 life in my book, none of this johnny come lately Vylka Fenrika gubbins. My wolves are blue armoured, drunk and are absolutely happy vikings in spaaaaacccceeee. Good times.

The narrative of this battle is exactly the sort of thing that makes 40k battles much more memorable. The idea of the Eldar nobly sacrificing themselves to save their wounded chieftan makes something that might otherwise be considered a "cheesy" tactic to win the battle feel so much more epic. (Not that I'm objecting to be clear - that's just playing to win the game by the rules of that game)

When I saw a bunch of highly maneuverable Eldar on one side and a Pulsa Rokkit on the other side I knew what was going to happen. Though how the Eldar had Mind War and the Orks got to keep their psyker's abilities is a mystery to me. Did you forget to tell him about that..?

Thanks for another great battle report. Sorry to be a ‘Debbie downer’ but my wargaming buddy of 30 years just finished his fight with cancer. While he was sick we watched many of your videos together, as actual gaming was really tough for him towards the end. Thank you very much gentlemen. It was a relief for me to be able to hang out with him and still do hobby stuff. He painted right up til he was on hospice. Best regards Adam

Just discovered this channel - as an long-time Eldar player (since 1992) it's great seeing them in the glory days of the very swingy 2nd edition again. More than that, it's great seeing the good spirit this game is being played in. I only play with my son these days (using 3rd edition rules as it's the quicket to play with the small-medium sized armies I have available) and we struggle to play in such good spirit despite best attempts. Bravo guys, you have a new subscriber :)

re mortars. each one needs declared range, but once you have fired for one turn you pretty much know the range the rest of the game as the enemy unit moves you just take that distance off your estimate. which is pretty true to real life. A very fun weapon to use. better against horde armies though.

I am looking forward to watching. I've been passing on KoW for too long, but I finally played today. It was a good time, and it reminded me of early WHFB - interesting but not too fussy.

Can a bike have a passenger? You can thrust UPTO 6 inches. You can opt to move less but need to say before the roll. "I would like to thrust 3 inches and try a turn"

Finally.... You lucky Supporters have seen this already and I've been waiting for an absolute AGE! This had better be worth the wait you two.

Nice to see some Death Engines in play!

Nice to see a new army on the channel guys. Your breakdown at the end is all reliant on the unit of mummies not killing the character which they were fully capable of doing remember a wavered unit can reform so the vampires could have turned to face the horde, also your 2 mounted characters could've charged the horde in the centre and with a bit of luck could've killed them, then there wouldn't have been any unit strength in the middle. Also be careful with the reforms after combat you pivot round the centre of the unit the war engine that killed the werewolves and the unit that killed your vampire both pivoted from separate points on the bases which changes everything, its easy to get wrong but can be vital to how a game plays out movement and positioning is so important in Kings. Good game keep them coming.

First time I've seen the KoW rats in a battle and gotta say the Hordes giving rallying and the plague pots make them seem much more interesting to be than Skaven ever did. Nice to see full turns playing out as well, the little bit of pausing to work out flanks and if a charge can get in are nice for learning the game. A reminder for Rampage: It affects Infantry, Heavy Infantry, Swarms and Calvary. Your werewolves don't get effected by it, they would be effected by Slaying. Also, I think you were saying Very Inspiring to increase the aura from I think the swarm crier? Pretty sure that doesn't work that way, but it doesn't matter as the swarmer-crier has an elite aura and the Impaler has Viscous on itself for rerolling 1s to damage.

I straight up love Ratkin, and I straight up love undead. I'm in for this one.

Great game......Just one point: when shooting Tank v Tank you determine where the shot hits by determining where the attacking tanks sits within the defending tanks arcs. e.g. if the firer is in the defenders front arc he hits the front even if he can see the side. If it is 50/50 you take the defenders best armour value

Hi, Chaps! I'm only 6 minutes in, but loving it so far! With regard to the 'Scattered Reserves' rule, at our club, we don't allow reserve entry from within 12" if the table corners: this helps to prevent units coming straight on and into the rear arc of an enemy vehicle. We find it helps.

Units that are already activated CAN fight back and are NOT Fatigued. Unactivated units that get charged do not count as Activated at the end of the combat. Only Fatigued, and only if you fight back

Rich, There are some good ways of basing minis on clear acrylic. It can work well buuuuut (a) yes, you have to avoid clouding/frosting; (b) it doesn't work easily when minis have 'puddle' bases; (c) it can look a bit flat(!); (d) you usually still have to paint the rims (I can't remember why, but black works well); and (e) it takes a lot of extra work!
