I note you are not using the provided panhead screws. They are a pain to hold in place while you start the hole. I've dropped 5 in five units. Also, I can't get the back edge under the shingle/up the side of the fascia. Each unit is taking me ages to install as I trim the back. If you've got an older gutter or reshingled home, prepare for a long and difficult diy.

Hey Mike, did you go back and visit later after fall leaves and spring seeds?
These look to be similar to many other gutter compost systems that claim to be gutter guards. While the gutters may not clog, those covers trap all sorts of debris. They will claim the “dry” debris will blow away. How much “dry” debris do you find in gutters. These are just shallow gutters with holes in them. Still prone to clogging and needing cleaning.
Looked at options for years. Found most all to be gimmicks and not worth the time or money. The kid down the block cleaning the gutters twice a year more practical. But I don’t have gutters 45 feet up. But that makes use of these shelf solutions even more problematic when the need to be cleared.

Ummmm, are you not still going to get shingle particle build up in the eves troughs that turns into mud within the troughs itself as the particles will pass through the holes in the gutter guard ? So you still need todo a once a year clean out …….

IMPORTANT: Since there is no such thing as a gutter guard that is 100% maintenance free, it's wise to anticipate cleaning the guard and gutter. USEFUL TIP: Cut a 6" length of the first panel and put it over the "high" end of the gutter, THEN cut another 6" length of the first panel and put it over the downspout for the gutter. Now you can work from the downspout end of the gutter with your full panels of gutter guard laying them on top of the previous panel. When the time comes (every 2-4 years) to clean out the gutters, remove the 6" panel at the high end and run a garden hose (with jet nozzle) and snake it all the way down to the downspout. If the downspout clogs, remove the 6" panel and clean out the clog. Removing a 6" panel is much easier and causes less wear-and-tear on the shingles compared to a 4 foot panel.

Just curious, with these laying flat doesn’t it cause a “shelf” effect causing leaves and such to just collect enabling water to enter the gutter? I’m in the market to replace the gutter guards that came with the house and doing research as to which product would be the best

There are all kinds of gutter guards and they all claim to be the best. Mike Holmes is a well known person but remember he is getting paid to say that this system is good. From what I have heard over an over, the best gutter guard is to not have anything on there.Once or twice a year you go on the roof, or pay someone, and you are done.

In my experience, and the experience of many people who are not trying to sell all of these gutter cover products, is that these products might REDUCE the need the clean your gutters but will not ELIMINATE the need to clean your gutters. Any salesman who says differently is just being dishonest.

We have a system that debri can not enter the gutter. Minor maintenance but easy to maintain but for debri entering the gutters that's impossible. Smart screen will allow some debri in the gutters. It also has the shelf effect that will allow debri to sit on top of the gutter. Mike didn't do his research on gutter guards. Loosing credibility on this one.

Hi Mike , after 5 years and many bad reviews of gutter guard products do you still think these are “Holmes approved “ ?
