As a sales representative of leaf filter, those "sales guys" you've hired and talked to obviously couldn't sell shit! And you wanna sit here and tell a billion dollar business to review the way we sell, sounds like you can out sell your product. Maybe you should take notes.

I was scheduled to start selling for leafilter this coming no day where I was going to be learning their "sales pitch" , but the response by this arrogant sales guy pretty much made me change my mind....not only that , if the market demand supported 35 bucks a lineal foot which obviously it does not , then I won't waste my time standing in a homeowners house and embarrassing myself with all the price drops DEMONSTRATING the product is not worth the asking price in the first place ...but I'm glad I came here to here HOW they try to market their over priced product...

I just had Leaf Filter gutter guards installed on my home and detached garage, all together 140 linear feet. The sales rep initially quoted me a price of $11,626 ($83.04 per linear foot). I kept bargaining him down and he dropped the price to $7,455 ($53.25 per linear foot) then $3,622 ($25.87 per linear foot) to finally $2,532 ($18.09 per linear foot). And after watching this video I feel like I STILL overpaid! You KNOW their original price is WAY overblown when they can "give" you a "discount" of 79% and still be making a profit.
I have friends who had a 20-ft. length of Leaf Filter installed on their home and they were charged $1200 ($60 per linear foot) because it didn't occur to them that they could negotiate the price.
Thank you for your videos; you are performing a valuable service for homeowners!!!!!!

Thanks for this video- I had a similar situation. The sales rep started around $7500, with about 25% discount they came down to ~$5600. The next morning, he came down to 4555 because of a “job cancellation in our area and wanted to fit us in.” After watching this video, I called him to negotiate down and we ended at $3500 - more than half of the starting cost. Thanks you for this video and saving us.

Thank you Dmitry, you're doing good service with this blog! I also had a Leaf Filter pitch, told them to keep it short and the rep complied. Pricing is the typical start very high then cut in half, in line with your per sq.ft.cost estimate. I read further in your viewers comments and saw the info on algae growth and potential maintenance, makes sense - very concerning, I cancelled the installation. Gonna go with traditional cleaning and maintenance. Keep up the good work.

I found Leaf Filter at a home show and scheduled an appointment. Then I read all the negative press about their high pressure sales tactics and phoney discounts. I called them to cancel the appointment and the rep on the phone launched into all sorts of pressure to keep or reschedule. I could not get her to confirm the cancellation until I told her if a rep set foot on my property I would have him arrested. Stay far away from these people.

I had a similar experience several days ago, after I read so many negative reviews I called to cancel the appt. The phone rep tried to talk me out of it, but finally agreed. However, several hours later, someone from Leaf Filter shows up at my home, claiming no knowledge of the cancellation! I believe the phone rep never told the installer that I had cancelled in the hope he could make the sale anyway! I told him I wasn’t interested and he left without a word. This company is the worst, and I’m glad I saw those reviews, let the buyer beware!

I am a gutter installer who has OCD/and a perfectionist. Please Consider: Fact: The open mouth of a gutter is a trap - Fiction: There is a perfect solution. Fact: Meshes, foam pad inserts, micro screens, just clog up. There are 4 products from the best system I found alu-rex.com. All are perforated aluminum: #1- #5300 cover/topper (with a flow restriction lip) and is retro/ Reno (installed on existing gutter as a after market product) #2-5200 a new construction continuous hanger ( NOT a TOPPER ) it is the hanger that is running and supporting the entire length of the gutter and is superior because it is not the weaker spaced system of spikes or spaced hangers. #3 #5800 a heavier gauge aluminum which is even stronger that I can stand on! #4 DoublePro designed for finer particles using 2 layers to help flush out fine stuff with the Venturi effect. Conclusion: you will get some debris build up and fine particles like roof grains but this system is way better than every other I’ve seen. With this one I don’t get complaints/call-back. It does require some maintenance. One eg. Is where wind cannot help blow out debris like on an inside corner or sheltered area however a quick swipe off the top is easy compared to digging muck out of the gutter trap or bottom. But some critics cannot recognize the benefits (perhaps some critics have black and white thinking -either approve or condemn) This is a good coping mechanism and will help reduce maintenance.

A guy had come over to buy to inform us about the gutters and he had told us that to install new gutters was going to cost 4200 dollars. He had used he's sells tactic and pressured my mom to cave in and she sign up. He had that she could get a finance and pay $70 a month for five years. I was like that don't sound good at all, but she had already sign the contract. I did my research and found out that she had three days to cancel. And I told the guy to cancel the contract for her the next day. After she canceled the contract, the guy had said that for future reference he could give me a deal of two thousand dollars less. You can't trust no one out there. Although he gave us really good tips and even pointed out some issues that the house had that weren't aware since we had just bought the house and now, we know we got to fix lol.

Cripes! Wish I had watched this video BEFORE my recent Leaf Filter sales visit . Most comments are right on the money. My estimate started at $10,700 for a ranch house with 230+ linear feet of gutters. That came down to $7,000 after a long sales talk and the "notebook" for visual reinforcement. I said 'no' and he got in his car to leave. One minute later a knock on the door - WHY DID I ANSWER THE DOOR? - and I got the same pitch mentioned in other comments about a lower price as a "commercial contract" AND the final pitch that hooked me ... due to Covid they really needed to sell product to keep their employees busy. So, I did sign for $6300.
Now I could kick myself for over paying for this product. This had better be the best damn gutter guard product ever, AND I will tell myself that I helped keep someone employed.

I had a similar experience with a rep recently. Started impossibly high, then came down, then came down again, then came down again. I do not like being highballed and working down from there, nor being put on the spot to sign immediately without an opportunity to review the contract thoroughly or evaluate the supposed "lifetime warranty" which inevitably will have so many exceptions that the company will never be liable.

Exactly! I was today asked to sign this "deal" or "loose it".. and I was like hypnotized and signed it! By the time I came back to my senses and realized what have I just done, he was long gone. I've now asked for cancellation (thank god state law allows you to cancel such contracts within a stipulated time frame). No matter how good their product is, and I believe it is a good product, no one likes to go through this experience! I would rather get a local contractor to do with home-depot material and clean it once an year myself.

@@VivekTiwari00 No, it's NOT, I repeat, not a good product. It's horrible. It will keep junk out of the gutters, BUT the junk just piles up on top of the filters and jambs the whole system up. Then the water goes over the gutters and wicks back into wood components. Trust me, I got suckered into a $4300.00 leaffilter scam 2 months ago. It's rained twice and they are jammed up already. Next week I'm ripping them off my house and straight to the dump. Oh, and no money back!! DON'T EVER TAKE THE BAIT ON ANY OF THESE GUTTER SYSTEMS. This is my personal experience. A Leaf Filter rep came to my home and tried to sell me their product for $18,500 (338 linear ft total). That's almost $55/ft! Needless to say I was really shocked. I didn't any research beforehand so I had no idea how much Leaf Filter should cost but similar to othwes experienced, this sales rep was so aggressive and spent over an hour with his 3 ring binder hard selling it to me. He gave me two estimates, one good for that day (but he wouldn't give me till EOD to decide) and one supposedly good for a year (but 30% higher) and then pressured me into making a decision on the spot. It was probably one of the most uncomfortable conversations I had had in my life. I said I would call him back and he said no customer would ever call back and pay the higher price. What kind of company is that??? If you're so confident about your product, why wouldn't you let your customer do some research and decide? I kept saying it's a lot of money and need more time to decide. He lowered his price from $18k to $14k and then he started suggesting skipping some sections of the house and selling it at $10k or even installing gutters without protection at a lower price! I currently have gutters with protection, just not all the way around my house. Why the hell would I pay him to remove my protection!?!? I said I would call him back but he was so upset he couldn't make a sale he wouldn't even leave his number. I can't imagine how many people this company has duped with this sales model teying to sell their product at 10 times the cost. This is probably how they got to $1 billion sales. I don't care how good your product is, you treat your customers like idiots, word is going to get around and damage your reputation.

I am an installer for them right now. I do installs, and service calls. They sale this crap as "never clog" but in a lot of cases, thats just not true. Ive been to dozens of homes that have over flow, do to the mesh being clogged. I have hundreds of pictures. Yhe product IS NOT and i repeat, NOT maintenance free as they pitch it. Ive sat and listened to customer care and sales reps lie to the customer as im standing there while the customer calls on speaker phone. Its the most embarrassing thing for me. I do what i can to make the customer happy, but once the lie is told, its difficult to make it right. The mesh has to be free of debris to work properly. Although the product does make cleaning 100 times easier, and much faster. You still need to blow, sweep, or hose the mesh off from time to time, so the product will work properly. Thats my two cents. Hope it helps.

I was really turned off by the high pressure sales tactics from them. First off, it's an hour long session between him measuring gutters and giving the sales pitch, so be ready for that. I have a decent sized house, but simple gable roof with 2 porches. They wanted $3900 ish. But the "price good for today only" before the salesman left was $2800. Luckily I told him I have to discuss it with my wife first and would get back to him. I didn't get back to him. Got a text from the salesman a week later saying they would do it for $1680. Still didn't respond because in my head I knew those would have trouble with heavy rains, and some testimonials confirmed that with moss. I'm glad I didn't go with them. I'm just going to get a shop vac extension and clean them myself without having to get on a ladder (which was the only reason I considered them). So lesson for everyone else, have only one of you home when the LeafGuard guy comes so you have an "out" and time to think about making a decision. haha.

Any product for which the price is good only today reeks of higfh pressure sales tactics to get a sale through. If the price is good today it should be good tomorrow. One day or one week does not shift the material or labor price, unless you are buying a volatile stock in the stock market.

I bought two packs of these plastic covers 36 inches long, 10 in a box, for $24 a box free shipping on eBay. It took me longer to climb up the ladder than it did to take me to slide one edge under the first row of shingles which held them in place. I put them up in September every year because I have big trees in the front of my house that fill the gutters.. in December, I take them off because there’s no issue with the gutters clogging because the leaves are done Falling here in western Pennsylvania. So for under 50 bucks, and about 30 minutes work, which the biggest part of the job was moving the ladder, I covered my gutters in the front of my house with Leaf guard filters. I don’t know what brand they are, some generic something or other. I don’t leave them on over the winter because they will get snow accumulation, and with the freeze thaw cycle they ice over, and the melting snow does not go into the gutter when they are iced over..
unfortunate that my gutters in the front of my house are only about 8 feet up above the ground. In the back of my house, they are about 25 feet up because my house is built on a slope. I don’t care if those gutters overflow in a big rain because The water can’t get in the house if the ground is saturated in the back. But it did in the front of my house when hurricane Ivan passed over Pennsylvania I couple decades ago. I got about a gallon or two of water in my game room on the floor covering an area about the size of a pool table. That happened because my gutters were filled with leaves and didn’t take the water away from the house..
So for under 50 bucks. Problem solved

Good material here. I bought Leaf Filter perhaps 4 or 5 years ago, before they were well known to me at least. I just had a new roof installed and all of it was ripped off, and is not really replaceable. I will say it worked pretty well in an area with a right angle around the pool. In any event the sales pitch sounds familiar. Prices started so high I laughed and said i'd consider it. Finally over the phone I got appx. 100 ft. installed for $1,350 as I recall. But like everywhere I read now, there really is no really good solution to keeping your gutters clean over the long-haul. Maintenance, cleaning out the holes, and screens will be required.....an improvement yes, but I will leave my gutters as they are from this point on.

Showed me a review from Consumer reports as being top of the line. BTW it is winter and we are slow, we can do S 4500. I said I will get back to you. Price dropped to $ 3500.00 and down to $ 3000.00 and any day of your choosing. Checked consumer reports, could not find any review.

And it's a little ridiculous when companies charge $100 for a 10-foot downspout when a downspout only cost them $6 bucks you take the three elbows you're using plus a downspout that's considered as 13 foot you add that into your total footage each elbow is one foot.

Well I got the same pitch from leaf filters last week , they started high and really low so for 3,300$ for 126 feet for the gutters and the filter installed I guess it's not bad because they guaranty everything as long as the house stays which means if I sell my house it's still under warranty plus every year I have big ice issues because of my tin roof and my gutters are ripped off every time so I just can't wait and see.

Warning:; Leaf Filter personnel ARE NOT GUTTER SPECIALISTS and will screw up your gutter system if you let them. This is from personal experience. They recommended a new section of gutter and/or realignment. They could not provide an adequate plan for replacement, so I opted for an adjustment and they screwed it up. I had to drill holes in my gutter and add downspouts were they could not solve the issue. They did a crappy job putting their cheap caps on my gutter and they resisted heavily when I tried to get them to correct their mistakes and honor their commitments made during the initial in-person consultation! In addition, their story change from the initial estimate when they came out a second time. Do not use this service!!!!!! Seattle area...

One of my lawn clients just paid 13k dollars for the leaf filter gutter guards on her 10 year old gutters. When she told me I almost crapped myself. And no, it wasn't 1300 it was 13,000 dollars. WTF man, I should find that salesman and kick him in the nuts.

My guy came and told me the "retail price"of $2200, but he said that's not the price we charge he did some figuring and asked me if I liked saving money (who doesn't?) So of course I said yes and he said $980 and I was just going to do it but then reading all of these reviews online but I'll probably do it anyway because this is Kentucky and we don't get allot of snow and ice and cross my fingers.

But some critics cannot recognize the benefits (perhaps some critics have black and white thinking -either approve or condemn) This is a good coping mechanism and will help reduce maintenance.

if you want to get a good price, just get a product online, from the amazon or from other store, hire a roofer and he will happily install it for you. All together you will probably pay 1/2 of the price full specialized company charge for it because you will cut out cute receptionist, sales person, team manager and all bunch of other people from equation. As for warranty, its a bloody piece of aluminium. There is a reason most companies give you lifetime warranty on it.

I just called to book an appt....they were offering me a discount if my spouse was present....is that not odd? Cant give me a ballpark price on 160 linear feet of material on a bungalow because “it is based on the job”. Immediately after booking my appt I questioned the tactics, then found this video. As I suspected, hard sales tactics. Glad I was made aware of this before, I have no time for companies that lack integrity. If this is the manner in which sales are carried out then I question the foundation and management of such a business. Are there any other companies to consider for this?

So I called them to have someone sent here to fix that. They said it would cost me $97, because my one year warranty was up. So much for their so called “Lifetime No Clogs Guarantee”

They just finished my single story, 3br home. Looking at the material, I might pay $800 - $1000 for it, it took one installer 3 hours, and I received a "discount" of 10%, dropping the price from over $4000 to under $3850 or something. "Demitri" rounded the price to an even $3800. I didn't see anything special about the mesh, or the honeycombed plastic base under the mesh. The installer did hammer out a dent, claims to have added a sealant, and blew out my downspouts. All of that was part of the labor, which I estimate cost me about $1000 an hour. I should have shopped around. I wouldn't have gotten the cheapest, but I'm certain I could have received the same care at half the price. They also were VERY QUICK to deposit my check, which, to me, stinks of "take the money and run." I suspect that the "lifetime warranty" of the sealant means the warranty will last as long as the company does.

I agree that Leaf filter is TOO expensive. Royal rip off. They get angry when you don't accept their exorbitant prices. The examples he showed me listed prices per foot. Leaffilters listed $20 per foot but that is not what he quoted me. He said he measured 116 ft and he quoted me $5538; then gave me his big discount for today $3950. I did questions price and his integrity and told him I had learned not to make decisions 'today' unless it was a price I couldn't resist, which that one was not. So glad I ran across you on RUclips.

Thanks for sharing everything! I want to share my experience with leaf filter unprofessional management in Ohio corporate offices, Springfield, MO., and North Carolina offices! Straight-line wind damage and lightning strike damages to my Mom`s house in September 2019! I am her son and resident at said damaged property and farm! BTW Mom is 74 years old now on a fixed income! Insurance claims denied on her house, gutters too, house damages due to lightning strikes! Of course, after the fact denied coverage of said damages for months to the house with insurance fraud denial of claims! After going through a contractor's approved site set up an appointment for leaf filter gutters! The same day the operation manager Springfield, MO. went to Mom's house got a check she paid in full about $5400.00 USD. The first day of installed company truck, trailer ran off gravel driveway damaging the yard twice in one day! Tow truck $125.00 for two minutes of work! Second time leaving the same day back into the yard again and got stuck! Gave the farm chain another company pick upvehicle pulled out truck gutter making trailer again! Had this day averbal agreement yard would be repaired in a timely matter! This was December 2019 whole install completed after three days of work! After countless calls, emails, liars, fraud as well on companies part! As well as more wind damage to new gutters! Two not even attached to the house! Thes gutters were ripped off the house by staughtline winds damaged gutters! Called many times thieves and liars in all locations mentioned! No lifetime warranty keep! Now as years of erosion as in the midwest! Over twelve thousand dollars in damages as erosion from severe thunderstorms, fort year 26 inches of rain in this region! snow, ice storms severe weather, sleet, hail ruts in the yard has caused ongoing damages for two years now! 2020 with all the tropical storms and remnants of hurricanes 55 inches of rainfall! As noted called asked for the HR department to report said employees' actions to date! Nothing was done or callbacks! As well no warranty honed as in writing on contract! Then lied to my mother about yard repairs as they know a dump truck and backhoe required hauling in the topsoil dirt, lime, fertilizer, base gravel top gravel for damaged driveway and now barn foundation eroded away!! Then seven types of different hay, grass seeds to plant the following spring after soil sample test for proper germination and soil test conducted by county!! They even lied about repairing one hundred feet away as many photos sent in emails! Repairing state-owned property as new fiber-optic lines installed that following year! One hundred sixty dollars landscaping paperwork! Sent all to DOT and US Senator for this region on fraud and invoice fraud! Beware, consumers of said product and company, as this is what happened with my mother home and experience of myself as setting up and see everything describe ir ongoing today with my own eyes! I witnessed and reported everything! Even called the Sherriff's department for reporting said crimes and fraud! Moms on a fixed income no civil lawsuit! Their product is junk! Fair warning people!
