Grand Design missed the boat big time!! The damage is done to the Brand. No one wants them, dealers will not take them in trade. So they are in big trouble with those who might buy one. I know I had been looking at them but now you couldn't pay me to take one for free. So the damage is done. I bet their sales is way down.
Thank you for all you do!!
So HB, follow up to this informational video, and thank you for all of the information / interpretation of the legal mumbo... I believe in one of the other vides you mentioned that some RV dealers were avoiding taking in GD brand trailers or specifically the problem models for trade. I have seen another dealer state that it would be only taken in as scrap. Does the alterations of the GD warranty ease that policy? Would staying clear of these specific units still be warrantied? Thank you.
I believe dealers should start tabling in trade ins again on those 5th wheels GD’s. I do not know if they are still going to hit them hard on value or not yet. Time will tell
@@HBRVLifestyle Will the Saturday Live Stream be put on hold also, or will they continue?
@@blairM363 Those will continue because it is on this channel. The Podcast channel has been put on hold
@@HBRVLifestyle Thank you, looking forward to those. I never could tell the difference between the two channels. Once subscribed to both they all just show up in the notifications.
@@blairM363 Thank you for the support
If GD had only put their money and time into a better product wrather than paying lawyers to draft this BS, this would never have been needed
Everything comes with a price. Better quality means more money which would put the units outside many peoples price point. Take Brinkley for example, you can expect to pay $60k MORE than a Momentum in comparison.
Travel trailers, 5t wheels etc. seem to be built with quality and reliability being last on the list. In a semi perfect world consumers would simply cross off grand design and realistically most of the rest of the RV manufacturers and not buy their crap. I only buy used RVs. I know they have no warranty going in so no heart ache later. I prefer the welded aluminum body frame with bonded FG on outside and either Luan if older or the newer composite replacement for inside walls. Forgot the name but it is way better than the Luan. The frame itself, I can generally weld up a crack or smaller issues myself, but I have built trailers before. I prefer torsion axles as they seem to transmit less road created motion to inside the box. Look at how the RVs are constructed and how feaking fast they move while building it. I have personally seen brand new trailers fresh from the manufacturer that just arrived and we walked inside and trim boards, hanging from top of slide to floor, shelves broken apart and laying on floor and muddy boot prints and jack knife couches that would barely fold back up and they look as if they had been slept in. Bottom line, they will fail and you will pay the cost to keep it usable, not nice, but usable. Would you rather start with $30-50K or more invested or $10-15k for a say 5-10 year old trailer. If they have lasted 5-10 years you have a fair chance at getting 5 more if you store it inside, keep it clean and realize they are NOT meant to be lived in full time. You want full time living quality, good luck and plan on way more than 100K invested. ALWAYS have more tow vehicle than you need. The term 1/2 ton towable is so over used it's pitiful. Can it pull it, maybe, is it technically legal, perhaps, should you, ??? My rule and I say MY RULE only,... if it has1 axle if probably is ok, 2 axles, go 3/4 ton or larger. Just because your 3/4 ton truck can take all the road dishes out does not mean the trailer can, plus all of us have over loaded our RVs at least once. All this is my opinion and experiences, so believe it or not. Good luck and plan for the worst and hope for the best, you will have less misery.
Talk about lawyer deception techniques. I also feel this is to prevent anybody from making content on RUclips and complaining about their frame so scam design and or the frame failure maker can come back and say it wasn’t reported within 20 days based on the date of a video. Buyer beware, and Clark Kent should be ashamed of himself.
With all those stipulations, doesn't sound like you got a warranty anymore anyway - inspection every 20 days? Who's got time for that?
Well it states plain and simple that you must catch it and report the frame problem within 20 days
@@HBRVLifestyle Ahh! ok, thanks!
🫡
TLDR; Grand Design RVs have no warranty because the RVs are exposed to weather.
It extreme exposure to elements
@@HBRVLifestyle True but one persons "extreme" is another persons "normal". It's a master loop hole - just like the always "overweight" loop hole. Almost all RVs are overweight with full tanks and zero contents.
Register within 30 days? Oh, the FTC can slap them hard, that's been illegal for decades.
I think with vehicles it is still 30 days. Auto industry still requires 30 days or less to register the car
Not blaming you HB but this is BS. Get a dealer to look at your trailer every 20 days? It will sit at the dealer for 20 days before they look at it at all. With this the units will literally sit at a dealer all year. Not to mention I take mine on the road for 20 days at a time. I personally think it’s time for a lawyer
It was a suggestion based on them wanting you to catch the problem within 20 days. Most people do not know what to look for so an expert should look at it every 20 days to make sure
Sounds like keeping up with this warranty is a full time job and requires access to climate controlled space to store the behemoth. Holy mackerel.
If you live in extreme weather areas it reads as if you need a lot of work to keep up with the warranty
You could not give me GD anything. What a bunch of hog wash!
Now you're begging for money you just lost all your credibility with me
That’s understandable. Have a great summer and rest of 2024 and beyond
Are you really complaining because he gave a link for voluntary donations while still giving free info?
He could make these videos for Members Only that require a subscription so then people would NOT be able to watch unless they pay.
