Quick tip for eating Tafelspitz: Even though it comes served in the broth, you'll want to take the beef out and eat it separately from the soup. The soup is actually your first course, and then you enjoy the meat as your main dish with the traditional sides and sauces. That's how we do it in Vienna! 😊
An authentic version would be Mohnzelte (made with poppyseed) rather than Apfelzelte (made with apple). This apple version seems to be a modern invention, possibly created for tourists who aren't familiar with the traditional poppyseed filling.
As somebody living in Vienna for quite some years this video hurts my feelings on so many levels... Better rename it: How to fall for all the tourists traps in Vienna in 24h
i´m from Austria Vienna did you go to Prater? I reccomend it it is an amusment park In austria the sausages are called Frankfurter that is also a city in germany
Unfortunately the Salm Bräu is a tourist trap, there is much better food here in Vienna, e.g. the Concordia in the 11th district near the central cemetery. You can eat very good Cordon Bleu variations there. Or the Meisl und Schadn in the 1st district with very good Wiener Schnitzel. In terms of quality, these two restaurants are much better than the Salm Bräu. For good beer you can go to the Siebensternbräu (Siebensterngasse 7th district).
Thanks for the recommendations! Thats the unfortunate thing about being a tourist in a new place, you miss all the really good places. We will have to go back and try these places next time! Thanks for watching! 🥰
Greetigs from Vienna! Stuffed apple pie is not a traditional Viennese food, either a fast food creation, I think. Wiener got their name from the butcher who invented them, and he was German, from Frankfurt. Thus, the Wiener are called Frankfurter in Vienna. Only in Germany they are called Wiener. The specimen you show is XXL, which is very uncommon and found in another type of Viennese sauasage: Sacherwürstl (Sacher sausage), which is a different sausage: While Frankfuter are made of pork, Sacherwürstel are made of beef. The name stems from the famous Eduard Sacher. Nutmeg is a spice,, and certainly does not go with brezels. puff paste either. I think, this is a modern creation. The name Brezel merely refers to their shape, and the traditional Brezels are made from a dough that ist brined with lye. They are a perfect side dish to beer, and thus neither sweet, nor with any flavour other than dough. And BTW without wheat meals, thus gluten free. The side sauce to Tafelspitz is not from crunched apples, but actually made of horseradish with apples or buns. The horseradish should not lose its complete sharpness, pure horseradish is traditionally served with cooked meat. The original Wiener Schnitzel is NEVER served with cranberries or the like. That is a German faux pas. The "salmallino" or how it is called, is not a traditional Viennese food, in fact, that is the first time, I heard of this.
ok, it is possible that I will give you the wrong impression and think that I am arrogant. Some of those dishes made in Austria are so common, they have nothing extraordinary. That soup and potato salad with eggs can be found in Romania, it is served at the canteen and it costs 1 dollar a portion and at the ;;normal;; restaurant the soup is 3 dollars and the salad only 2 dollars. if you have to regret something, it's about those cakes because their taste is divine
@@tabikaaaa You're on the job, well done. I received the message. You know something, if you ever travel to Romania, by some incomprehensible mistake or for Dracula's house, I'm not kidding, it's a real building, most of the foreign tourists come for this and for the music festival from Cluj, try the cake called savarina and the pumpkin pie made in the traditional oven.
ok, I have to confess something. I have interacted with some Americans, I have also been around the European world, the UK and Ireland, Poland, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and, you won't believe it, Iceland., but they don't have this side of you, this behavior that has a lot of ;;drawers;; full of Latin senses. the fact that you enjoy food with such pleasure, the atmosphere you create in front of the camera and extraordinary understanding towards those who comment on your channel. something else, there is no arrogance typical of people who are from a country with a strong economy. To be clear, you are full of life, as we Romanians say. Oh, and one more thing, you have a very good sense of humor because another American might get upset when I joked about that skating. You both are, and I put in Romanian this title BELEA DE SIMPATICI .
Hi Wyatt! Rick from Bellingham. Glad you made it to Wien. I was there in September. I have cousins there and throughout Austria. If you're still there check out the beautiful Cafe Central. Excellent pastries and coffees. Some infamous and famous people hung out there before they were well known inc Freud, Tito, Stalin, Trotsky and Adolf. Servus und Frohe Weihnachten 😊
Sorry Naschmarkt ??? So much little one in this City.. And 😂 Great I hope your Time in Vienna was great 😂 Im 54 Years ..traditional ..is the best😂 I 🇦🇹 love it Käsekrainer?😂
1:17 I'm really proud of you, Reyka 😂 Sadly you guys have a hand for picking the least exiting food! Maybe ask more. 70-80% will respond in a rly nice and helpful way and 20 to 30% simply are in their own universe, coming home from work with their headphones on, who will ignore tourists, but without any hard feelings. PS: Next time try the other Sausages with all the side dishes of a Würstelstand, a Schnitzel with potato salad(it's the real star of the dish), put Everyhing you get served with a Tafelspitz on one plate/bite, skip the Sacher Torte completely, since it's a relict and not suppposed to be good, but original (actually same with Tafelspitz) and try the daily specials, since everything in these restaurants is 'from' Austria (at least from all corners of the former empire, melted together in Vienna), or just ask the waiter, what he likes most. peace
thank you for this opinion of yours about my English. I am rational and I know that the level is somewhere in the middle. it seems strange, you may not believe me, I learned it mostly thanks to you Americans, movies and untranslated documentaries or songs. damn it , I had to understand what it was about. now, without modesty, for example I watch nhl and nfl and I have to know what those commentators say. in Romania it is expensive to have these competitions on TV.

do you let AI write something down for you becuase all those comments you made make you really look weird. And people are here for austrian cuisine. No one cares what you pay in that lil romanian village of yours
@@stefanragler9584 it's an undeserved insult. You didn't understand. I didn't say that those foods don't taste good, proof that I praised the Austrian cakes.
