Much prefer Rouvy to Zwift. Much more routes to choose from and a lot less synthetic looking. Shame the player avatar customisation features are so weak, but overall a solid product.
I like Rouvy, I prefer it over Zwift. I don't like riding on the trainer but if I must I'd rather see real world scenery than a virtual one. Zwift might have more features but I just like that I can ride and see another part of the world and somewhat enjoy my ride. I have even found some of my local climbs on it so I can train on them and get used to the pitches before hitting them in real life. I just enjoy riding in a real world scenario more, it's much more a simulation than a game that Zwift is.
I’ve used Rouvy for 3 yrs and it preps me for Spring when most of the snow has disappeared. I’m not trading this for anything. the recent upgrades were flawless for downloading. I have some local rides on Rouvy and it looks/feels the same.
Is a great platform. Do still find it weird Sam, that you referred to it in the beginning of your video, as the ‘game’. I understand Zwifting referring to a game, but there is nothing about Rouvy that seems like a game to me. It is a training option. And riding on it is just training really. Anyhoo - just an observation. Good video.
The video proves that there is actually something like interesting advertising. I give it a shot again. Last time 1 or 2 years ago it was only ok’ish. Riding the same routes again and again on Zwift really gets old.
A lot of work has been done since two years ago! Try it and let us know. We also came with more convenient group plans if you'd like to ride with friends and save some money. 🫶
Hold on. Why were you trying to match the workout power levels. For me Rouvy workouts are in ERG mode so it automatically MAKES you match the prescribed power. Did you change your Trainer to non controllable at some point not covered in the video ?
Does Rouvy also have the correspondent noises to the scenery, like car and bird noises? In former days I used to listen to bird noises (from youtube) while riding the virtual tracks. I somehow need that that for making it more real and escape the living room..
Is it possible to remove the other riders from the view? I'd rather look at the scenery rather than another rider's hind quarters. Also it would be nice to be able to download the file for a ride that one plans to do, such as a particular gran fondo. I'm new to indoor training and wondered if these things can done.
You can remove the avatars and upload/download your own rides. You can actually download ride file in case you don’t want to deal with connectivity issues.
YOu can remove (and indeed I would suggest you do) the 'Ghost' riders, but you also have the option of adding a Ghost rider of your own Personal Best for a given ride - usefull when you are tryng to improve your time on a route. The only riders you can't remove are other 'real' riders who happen to be riding the same route at the same time as you.
I wish Rouvy also had an option to 'pay per ride' or 'pay per day' since I don't ride Rouvy often enough to justify a monthly membership. (i'd use it only like once or twice per month)
You may need to search for the group rides, and these are scheduled at certain times in the day (and lots of riders). I found some training routes pretty empty too.
I use Zwift. If I can't race in Zwift it's value (to me) drops significantly. The racing is fun of course when it goes well. But being on the West Coast (lack of events when I ride) and the cheatin' (I don't care about losing so much as getting a good workout, but the cheating changes the dynamic of many races)... If I can't race in Zwift then the competitors become far more attractive. Rouvy looks really good but I don't think they should be charging the same (or higher?) price that Zwift does. Any competitor to Zwift HAS TO gain some of that market share before they can even think about charging the same price as Zwift.
Thanks for this video. I used the last two winters mainly Wahoo Systm and hoped that they will increase the routes for Wahoo RGT. Unfortunately, they will stop it. Now I am curious whether I should change to Rouvy or MyWhoosh. Could you do a video about MyWhoosh?
As an RGT orphan I've been given 12 months free Zwift starting November...ironic that the RGT community have been given this as it's the platform most of them despise, they could have given us Rouvy or Fulgaz....I'm off to IndieVelo, and I'll obviously try Zwift, might be better now the thumbs are off screen (Shane Miller(GPLama) did a piece on how to remove those stupid Ride On Thumbs...)...Rouvy looks ok not too sure about the blend of sim/real footage, Fulgaz may be better as first person POV
I ride both Rouvy and FulGaz. They are similar but have different strengths, I think. FulGaz has a fantastic selection of videos from all over the world, and very high quality resolution. Rouvy has avatars and more augmented reality features. I enjoy them both for the more immersive, real-ride feel :)
Can you turn off the cars? I hate riding with cars. On my ride home, after a small climb, I have to cross a highway. Even when there is just a bit of traffic, my heart rate is higher after resting and waiting to cross than it is after the climb. Riding in the real world is great. Riding with cars in the real world is the worst thing about cycling.
At 6:27 or so, the riders are two abreast and a car approaches, but the video cuts away. Did the cyclist on the left die? For realism, the driver would crowd him, yell foul words out the window, and flip the bird.
@@ROUVY Thanks for the reply. The platform looks great, and is much more attractive than the game look, but a key reason I ride indoors is too avoid cars. In my small community two local cyclists were killed not long ago. On my most recent ride, two a-hole drivers were aggressive towards us. Just watching this video, when a car first appears my blood pressure jumps. To get me on board the cars would have to go.
Rather than graphics or video, I think I want a wind tunnel for Christmas. It’s hard for me to find motivation for an aero position when riding indoors. It’s not like getting low speeds me up. But with a wind tunnel in the simulation… Anybody know where I can get a really big fan?
I like Rouvy very much and the updated search function is really well-done. I am still missing the watchdog on cadence when doing workouts so once that feature is added, Rouvy will be perfect platform, haha.
I thought the thumbnail said best altitude training platform and got confused as to how that is possible. Secondly, RIP that Madone. You've drastically shortened that bike's lifespan to
Dunno why people are so up in arms in regards to endorsements. Before it was common practice and you had to be endorsed. Especially as an athlete of any kind. Now days it’s like the new evil for whatever reason. Don’t get it. Sure one should be honest about it, still too much miss placed hate and critique.
Zwift’s CEO is so obsessed with gamification that he is willing to totally kill it. I was on Zwift from the beginning until he made it a silly, childish game with pathetic Power-Ups…
Lol i love how cyclists convince themselves ftp is a measure of power and being as a hybrid recreational athlete, I measure power in the gym through strength training.
Why is it so hard to make a video that focuses on actual game visually? How long can i watch you pedal or a trek bike or you sipping water? Just show rhe freakin gameplay please
I am sorry to say this, but the display for workouts while riding is the worst, most unintuitive I have ever seen, Rouvy must improve it as soon as possible.
I really like Rouvy. I feel like im cycling and not in an arcade game.
Zwift is going off in some weird direction that makes no sense to me.
I like how the Italy route you actually get buzzed by drivers just like in reality 😀
Never felt more realistic. 😁
Might switch to this one the graphics loook amazing

I dig Rouvy! Been using it for over a year.
Rouvy is awesome. Real world routes makes it realistic, not like a video game
Boring. I want to ride on another planet.
take Zwift’s Watopia world 🤣🤣🤣 @@joerenner8334

Great review! I'm so stoked to check this platform out. The realism and variety of routes definitely appeals to me.

Those were ghost riders. They can be removed.
You can choose to have no ghost riders in the settings, or up to 6 to work as domestiques for you, I believe @@BG-yr1rr

@1:05 He really is a great host. Very engaging. Well done.
How is erg mode turned off during workout mode? I noticed you rode the workout in resistance mode.
Is anyone else on the platform? Last winter I gave it a spin and there were maybe 10 other riders while Zwift had about 6k.
There are lots of riders on the platform. Zwift has many more subscribers but many fewer ride routes, so it's more crowded
You may need to search for the group rides, and these are scheduled at certain times in the day (and lots of riders). I found some training routes pretty empty too.
The most crowded routes are part of challenges or official events. We are sure there are many more riders than last year! 🫶

Rouvy does POV too!!
Odd to advertise a product without stating the price? Or hoping no one asks?
I don't mind having the scenery, but xan you set it in resistance mode rather than simulation and just ride ar your own power?
Pretty nice but the real ride footage on Fulgaz would still be my preference. No avatars but you really can imagine being there.
You can hide the avatars and just enjoy the view!
What type of platform are you using for your computer?
What have you got your laptop on please?
So any negatives 🤔 ?
"166 W FTP....sheesh I think we can improve upon that easily"
Me: worked hard for 155 FTP
Could you have selected erg mode for the workout?
Awesome & Thanks :)
Is rhere a VR option?
Judging by the thumbnail, it's riding the turbo whilst having a dental exam...
It is labelled as such at the start, but this is clearly an advert rather than a review.
what are the longest routes, I usually only see the short ones, they tend to be too short for a full contiguous ride in the 100k + range
Up to 160km

Beautiful DATEV Challenge Roth 180 km route or 180 km in Utah and many more! 😍
does it give you road type pedal feedback like Swift does on my TACX Neo?
No
Can you group ride or ride with just your friends at the same time on Rouvy?
Yes
Sure, you can create your own group rides! 🫶
Is this compatible with any smart stationary bikes?
I think you can make it compatible if you add a power meter.
