    Thank you for taking the time to do this video. It's really useful. I have been debating which app to use for a while and they are NOT cheap 👍❤

      Thanks for the comment. I agree. Most of the more popular apps are very expensive. These apps are also up there with costs but at least you have a full version of the app during your 14 day free trial. Which kinda helps if you want to maybe start paying for one of them. I certainly had a lot of fun while using both these versions. Especially with a smart trainer. Glad you found it useful.

    Have used both Rouvy and Fulgaz. Rouvy wins!

    I have been using Rouvy for some time now and I am very satisfied, especially with the recent updates. I gave a shot to Fulgaz in past but did not like it that much and I heard it is not developing quite well and looks more or less the same for couple years now.

      That's good information. I am off the indoor training apps for now. Weather is good and training outdoors are much more satisfying.

    I also had constant connectivity problems with Fulgaz and had to download the rides. The problem with the download came when, if during a very long online download (i.e. 15 Gigabits for a 66 mile 1200 screen resolution ride) there'd be a glitch. At that point Fulgaz would indicate that the download failed and, incredibly, instead of restarting from the last downloaded point, it started all over again. In addition, it took forever for Fulgaz to connect to ANT+ (sometimes not connecting at all) and, during even a downloaded ride, it would switch, on its own, from controlling the resistance on my smart trainer (a NEO) to merely controlling the video speed based on my output. In other words, I wouldn't feel the changing resistance. Even support didn't have an answer. So, I went to Rouvy and didn't have any of those issues. Fulgaz, though, has an almost 100% rate of excellently recorded video and that's great, when it works. Fulgaz support explained the connection problems to all sorts of things, from my smart trainer still be connected to a previous program, to cross currents in the room, to my cell phone in the room and on and on. My philosophy? If it doesn't work in typical conditions it's not for me.
    Rouvy is easy to connect to and very reliable. My main beef is their pre-ride interface. It's VERY awkward and definitely can be very much improved. It's hard to find my previously downloaded rides, for instance, so I placed them in my "Favorite Rides" section which is easier to fide.
    The other problem with Rouvy, for me, came with very large downloads (i.e. 15 Gigabits for a 66 mile 1200 screen resolution ride) there'd be a glitch. At that point Rouvy would indicate that the download failed and, incredibly, instead of restarting from the last downloaded point, it started all over again.

      Some good info that I'm sure people can benefit from. I also experienced the same issue with the downloads. Sometimes really close to the end of the download and when you look again something went wrong. Really annoying. But then again it was already pretty annoying just trying to do a ride with it freezing on me.

    ROUVY is the best by far.

    Thanks for the video. I'm about to buy my first trainer and use it with my mtb xc bike. I'm wondering - does any of those apps allow you to choose and ride against/with bikers on the same type of bike. Does leaderboard take that into account?

    • @WestCoastMountainBiker
      @WestCoastMountainBiker  Год назад +1

      Unfortunately I don't know the answer to that question. I can only say that using Rouvy I managed to overtake some other riders that were busy on the same route. And I was also using my soft tail XC mountain bike. But I never knew which bike they were using. But it could be nice if they paired same type bikes on the same routes. Especially if you want to compare yourself to others.
      I use strava as well and it's the same story. Same segment... but road bikes usually take the segments on the road.

      @@WestCoastMountainBiker ok, thank you. I'm new to trainers so I'm probably overthinking this.

      @sir_micho no worries. I personally prefer riding outdoors but I enjoy having the option to carry on training or exercising if the outdoors doesn't permit optimal training conditions.

      Jis baie dankie. Ja ek het gelukkig weer op die fiets geklim. Is weer so aan die gang soos wat ek kan wees. Skouer het my so bietjie geaffekteer in die sin dat ek die storie bietjie meer "katvoet"benader. Maar ek is nou weer op 'n lekker plek. Dankie.

    if only rouvy had support for 4k resolutions like fulgaz does. that's the only complaint I have against rouvy. overall both are good, I have the annual subscriptions to both and use them interchangeably

      Its a pity they don't support 4k. Something they should be looking into.

    How accurate is the power with ROUVY. My FTP on a wattbike is a lot more than on ROUVY.

    • @WestCoastMountainBiker
      @WestCoastMountainBiker  3 месяца назад

      I'm not sure about the accuracy of the power. I assume it won't be entirely accurate in comparison to the wattbike.
      But overall experience for training indoors is a great experience for me personally.

      That sucks. I guess too many people just shop around by doing the free trials.

    My smart is not interactive but I have the incline power ratings. I didn't notice the incline percentages on rouvy.
    You may want to center your chain instead of using the largest sprocket on your trainer.

    Of the two I prefer FulGaz to Rouvy , but Zwift is still the best

      Haha. Monkey noise. No sorry man. Have to make due with RUclips Studio's music. The other platforms are too expensive.

    Thanks , I've tried zwift off and on because it's so popular. I never could get into it. I do like Wahoo RGT. Will try these 2 next .
