I think someone is pulling CH7 leg. This carriage is not now going to be saved because of the Ch7 news report and that keen eyed rail employee, It was known by most rail historians (buffs) back before the carriage was withdrawn that this was the carriage that the queen traveled in. In 2012 the people in power did not know its historical value, once it was brought to their attention it was marked to be saved, which is why its now in storage. If some had not spoken up back then, the then transport minister would have had his way and all of them would have gone to scrap as he saw no value in any of them.
The report says it will be “put on display”, where would that be? I’m guessing maybe the Heritage Expo but even then that’s way too little time to restore the carriage back to 1980 conditions.
