The Circle of Mutations looks really fun to use, similar in concept to Moon Druid but with the advantages of mutations.

It does have a lot in common with the Moon Druid, I definitely prefer the mechanics and flavour of the Mutations druid though.

This is a really cool take on the Druid, I want to try it out myself.

It does sound really fun! I love the adaptability of it, and would be interesting to see it roleplayed, I feel like it would suit a very chaotic character.

The apex ability make the lv 10 ability hard to use?

Good spot! Potentially yes, I didn't notice that when reading about it.
The level 10 ability you'll want to use on an allied beast, but the Apex Predator Aura makes beasts frightened if they failed a save - they become immune to the effect if they succeed. So if you have a beast in your party (such as the Ranger: Beast Master Conclave) it should be ok, or you may need to house-rule it's not affected by the Aura; if a beast wanders into a fight to help you out, then you'll probably struggle to use the Endless Evolution feature from level 10. It's a strange rules interaction.

Something I had thought about speaking with my DM is that I used my ability to intimidate and fear them, then appealed to the beast offering power to fight with me and THEN offered it the mutation. Made for some interesting moments@@mythicalmeeples

I really like that concept, allows you to bring a new aspect of roleplaying and flavour to your character - I think it'd be really fun to try out :)
