I have a Glock 30SF with a Lasermax guide rod and love it. The laser will also turn on once the first shot is fired too. I love how minimalistic it is. You would never know the firearm has a laser installed in it. I have owned mine for over 10 years with no problems.
You're spot on about not having time to actuate lights & lasers in a SD situation. That's why I black out my rear sight on all my handguns, helps me find the front sight quicker.
My dad carries a laser on his taurus g2c. I come from a military background so I want the most minimal signature as possible. I shoot small, concealable handguns with no lights or optics. A handgun to me is just a weapon to fight to my main armaments. But for older individuals or those with disabilities, use what will make you more effective and safe as a firearm owner

I carried a LaserMax guide rod in my duty G21, it allowed me to make a couple of next to impossible shots over the years when I was working the streets. I have been working around some aging eyes lately, and the G19 in the drawer with the old Streamlight M6 laser light has me considering getting one of the guide rods again for my G23 carry gun. The visible laser is not popular today, but I think that part of the problem is that the majority of people today haven’t been taught how to run the laser right. And to be brutally honest, I am still kicking myself for letting a G19-2 with the original integral Crimson Trace laser pass by.
Going to try out my first laser setup with my new Shield Plus. Grabagun had a great deal on an optic-ready Plus with a laser/light combo! I appreciate this video. Your channel is my favorite! I appreciate how you always keep it real. Your reviews are terrific man.
My carry j frames all have Crimson Trace laser grips. front sights are all painted blaze orange. From dusk to dawn laser are the way to go, once the sun is up use the iron sights. It allows across the parking lot shots.
Lasers are fantastic. I first tried them on my home defense rifle, an AK with a folding stock ( legal in my state), and a bullpup shotgun. It's incredible. I don't have to raise it to my face. There's no trouble at all seeing that burning green dot. The units for rifles are sturdy, and the light laser combos are 2000 lumens. Unlike the pistol lasers, they're not plastic. So I bought two touch activated Armalasers for my Glocks. At first they were fantastic llaying around the house. Amazing to shoot from the hip, so much faster than an optic and visible even outdoors up to 15 yards, where a realistic self-defense incident is likely to occur. The problem came when I tried zeroing them using a bore sight laser. One was fine once zeroed. The problem was that the other wouldn't adjust. The windage and height wouldn't move. I followed the manuals instruction to loosen those screws then retighten them. When I did, they fell into the cheap plastic housing. I called Armalaser customer support and sent it t in thinking I'd get a replacement, especially after I got an invoice from them saying $0 so I was surprised to find it wasn't a paid shipping label but I went ahead anyway. When I called about that the next day customer service said "that's the way it is". When I argued he moved on to claiming I must have broken the laser and I'd be charged for repairs. I've checked their reviews and there are recent reviews with people having this problem Lasers that are bad out of the box that Armalaser wants the customer to pay for. Some people just never get the laser back, no refund for the defective product they received. I love the potential of touch sensetive lasers but I can't find one that I have faith in to buy. I've heard of problems with the guide rod lasers and all the others seem to be tricky tacky pieces of cheap plastic like the Armalaser. Even the expensive Crimson Trace touch activated lasers are getting a lot of complaints. I'm still searching because they are fantastic for real self-defense situations, but it's possible that no one has yet built a reliable one small and light enough for a pistol. There is a great video on the channel "hrfunk" titled "MTFS vs Laser Sight:Is there a winner where he tested his own speed and accuracy with each. Under 20 yards the laser was consistently faster and more accurate even outdoors and he's a Red Dot guy. GunDigestTv has a good video demo titled "The Advantages of Laser Sights On A Defensive Pistol" I'm enamored with lasers, but I am going to paraphrase Reddit' give mind phrase. "Friends don't let friends buy Armalasers".
I have the original Glock 17 Gen 1 I purchased new decades ago. I even bought the Glock add-on laser. (Lasermax came out later). I found I actually hit better using sights; however, I recognize their usefulness in some situations. Consequently I have several light/laser combos in the collection. I loved the Lasermax concept since they first came out, I just couldn't justify the $400 price tag. Of course, that was 30 years ago. It might be time to re-evaluate.
Very good point on the flashlight. If I need a light casualty, I’ll pull out my edc flashlight. My home defense pistol has a light and that’s cause I live in the country.
Night stand weapon has the light/laser combo. Sighted in at 7 yards. It makes hitting the target while staying target focused extremely easy. I train shooting from different angles and can see the value add.
I can absolutely tell you Guide Rod Lasers are the worst in reliability and run time. I’ve had three and all failed due to run-times and adjustability. They are a waste of your time and big expense. I went to Crimson Trace CTC Grip Lasers for Glock and they are FAST & ACCURATE and no new holsters. MUST HAVE NORMAL HANDS or they might be too large. Being a grip laser, they are fast back on target, much better than any REDDOT/Rail Mount Laser as it’s all target focus. I practice always ‘Laser Assisted’ shooting technique and it works weather Combat or OH grip left or right.
I have tried red lasers before, and I find them difficult to acquire downrange in many conditions. Green would be better in some conditions. Green dot optics work MUCH better for me.
Awesome SPN《☆》I never tried the LaserMax guiderod lasers. Any laser that can be zeroed in over a wide spectrum, has easy activation and is dependable should be useful in a realistic situation. The closer the laser is to the Barrel the more accurate it will be✌🏼😎☯️
I definitely agree on the statement you said about it not being necessary to have a light on your edc that you carry, only pistol I have with a light on it is my home defense that’s about it lol. Only attachment I have on my edc is a cyelee red dot and that isn’t really needed its honesty just an addition that makes me feel like I have a slighter advantage maybe, anyway respect and keep up the great content my friend!
Same here, I put light laser combo on my home defense full size. My Hellcat edc came with a free optic. No light on any of my edcs, but I recently add a handheld flashlight to my edc since I can carry more stuff in the winter.
S&W Jframe with crimson trace grip laser. Laser goes on when gripping by the button on the grip. Faster than any sight red dot fiber sight night sight iron sight etc. Put the laser on the target keep it there while pressing the trigger. Better hits too.
Ok can I be that guy and ask what that little knife in the thumbnail is? And I have a viridian laser on my home defense and I love it. It’s perfect for quick reflexive shots.
I got a tlr8-ag on my home defense sig sp2022 it’s a light/laser combo, highly recommended for home defense. Id imagine if an intruder broke in at night and saw a green beam waving through the halls they’d shit their pants.
I used to have one and loved it at first until I realized how often the batteries need to be changed. Changing them is pain in the rear because they are tiny and flip over the wrong way when dropped into the tube. It's like one of those children's birthday party toys with the bb in a maze with holes.
If you get them from lasermax they come in the tube! And honestly; it’s not something you have to change often because when you shoot at the range, you use irons majority of the time. Changing the batteries takes all of two minutes…..
I kept a Lasermax guide rod in my G43 for years. I absolutely love it, but then I got drawn into the red dot craze. I still throw it in once in a while just for the hell of it. Only gripe about it is that if you don't use the lasermax battery pack, replacement batteries tend to not work.
In a real self defense situation I seriously doubt I’ll have time to use a laser light red dot or whatever other fancy stuff they try to market me. However, laser and dots seem like good found for the range - and that would be my only motivation to get any of that. Call me crazy.
Thats a really cool idea. Not maybe something to use in tenths of a second but would be great if you are not oriented enough to aim well for whatever reason. I wonder if this holds zero in long term practice. Id love to give this try
I tried the Lasermax and was disappointed for three important reasons. I carry IWB and could not find a holster that would not occasionally turn the unit on under retention pressure. A dark laser is useless. I found the battery life to be extremely short. On a sunny day outdoors, the dot was simply not visible. There are several times and places where this product could be of use but I could not make it fit my EDC style.
I have the green laser rod for my g19 you still have to mash the takedown pins to activate the laser ….. in a fast draw …don’t think I’ll have time to activate it
Take your gear to your local IDPA or USPSA and test it in a match. Nothing beats a red dot for accuracy and speed if you’re shooting from the hip or not extended, you’re point shooting at close range which is not hard. You’ll find, finding the laser in anything other than night to be hard under stress or pressure. You don’t have to believe me just go to a match and find out.
Wife has a laser on her S&W 49 that is her home defense gun. I have a laser built into my TLR 6 on my Shield. They are basically useless (red laser) during the day. A Red dot is a much better aiming device in my opinion. Lasers could be helpful for aiming but mainly during darker times..
Lazer works good I got cheap one on my Taurus very accurate hits whatever aim at was surprise wouldn’t trust my life to it but I’m definitely considering better quality one for my Glock i dont like lazer light cuz I like to carry in my pocket a lot of the time and like keep it small as possible y I don’t use red dot
I had one of these in my 92fs bac in the day.. like a decade plus ago.. and it was a laser max.. it was beyond garbage.. it went very useful and the spring was way off for recoil and function.. I’ll never ever go down that road again.. I’ll get a laser grip before that and more than likely I’ll choose a light laser combo before even that.. As for me.. I always have at least 2 lights.. one hand held and one on any firearm I carry or chose for home defense. But just so I understand correctly you won’t use a non factory mag yet you will use factory mags with baseplate and spring changes.. ala magguts.. can’t fault you there I use magguts and I have 100% confidence in them.. However I’ve had a laser max recoil laser and will never even entertain using one ever again.. it was nothing but issues.. It flickers cause a stationary light is an issue for depth perception.. this is why tower beacons for aircraft blink.. but it’s still garage and finicky and there is a reason every other company on the planet since these came out 20 plus years ago does laser grips or lights not recoils rods.. Beyond the stated issues it also had issues with holding a zero after range ie and I as short time before it stopped working entirely.. 500-1000 rounds and it was done. I like consistency I trading and use so I don’t have to think abut things and what works for one gun works for al guns.. Sorry but lights are more useful. And the inky firearms I even have grip lasers on are but few and if for the wives nightstand gun when I’m out of town.. simply cause her training is limited. Her going to the range with me to train is not easy to do… a grip style laser at least gives me a little more confidence and her if she should need to use said lift repo when I’m not around.. But guid rod lasers are a gimmick. They don’t work for 99.9% of firearms at all.. I’d rather equip my wife with a knife than a guide rod laser.. and that comes from decades of experience with them professionally and privately. Maybe they perfected the Glock option for 1-2 platforms.. maybe.. they will are trash for the majority of people and needs
Based off of what? A couple videos online? The only testing that matters is the testing you do with yours and I have thousands of rounds through 3 of them and not a single issue! Respect
My home defense pistol has a light.. Something and in a scenario where I'd have time to turn it on. I edc a flashlight anyhow for actual flashlight use throughout the day. But On a daily carry gun, no. Not anymore. Night sights and done. Even a red dot isn't necessary. In a real defensive gunfight, you aren't using sights or lining that dot up. Been there done that all I'm gonna say.
Lasers definitely important there’s a show on RUclips called first person defender and the guy Chris that and his wife that were part of the show I believe he was military and that he was law-enforcement at the time and they do real world scenarios so they had them in a shoot house and his wife and they told them to go sit in the bedroom and they asked him what does he keep at home he said he keeps a handgun on the dresser and his rifle right there also so they told him to go in the bedroom part of the house and they’re just sitting there and they don’t tell them what’s gonna happen to guys come in the house home invaders and they have fire arms they were using the paint rounds so he went and he was looking around the corner the wall and they started to take fire and he was shooting back and then they talked about you know what happened and why did you do this whatever whatever and then he showed him on his A.R. 15 use the laser because he was shooting from cover and he couldn’t use his optic because it was a fire fight pretty much in the hallway of the home and I told him use your laser he use the laser and he tore him guys up and a laser can also prevent somebody from trying something if you have your gun on them and you got the light laser light on their body they’re definitely probably gonna think twice to try something so it can prevent you from getting into a shoot out or attacked instantly trying to take your firearm
I don’t think a lot of people think that someone could be shooting back at you in self defense… you guys always figure you’re just gonna use the element of surprise n quick draw that this person you imagine is going to attack you… say stuff like why am I going to need more rounds n this will never happen in a self defense encounter… or statistics says… N have no real world experience of your own… just someone else’s story or shooting on a one way shooting range hitting a stationary object smh
My co workers talk so much trash about me with a Lazer they are old school and even hate red dots, 😂 Anyway I love my Lazer and to me is easier then looking through the dot window. I can look exclusively at my target, even shoot from the him. Lazer Love for Sure. I need this integrated 1for sure. Dude trying to jump a backyard fence then saw that red dot on em dude went into stop motion and ran for his life! 😂My co workers talk so much trash about me with a Lazer they are old school and even hate red dots, 😂 Anyway I love my Lazer and to me is easier then looking through the dot window. Haha fair enough! Respect. At the end of the day it’s all marketing and fear marketing. “If you don’t have this (the newest and latest product) then it’s not good enough” respect.
@ I actually see the advantage of integral lasers, I’d like to see manufactures with removable fire control units after frames with them integrated, that would be cool!
Wanted to let you know after all this time watching you I finally got a Glock 26 I wanted a gen 5 but I found a gen 4 So far I love it and it’s my edc you helped me find something I’m really comfortable with thanks man 👌💪🫡

That’s why we can all carry how we want. I’m putting this option out there for anyone who might like it. It turns on after the first shot so you don’t need anytime to continue to use it after the first shot..
I have a Glock 30SF with a Lasermax guide rod and love it. The laser will also turn on once the first shot is fired too. I love how minimalistic it is. You would never know the firearm has a laser installed in it. I have owned mine for over 10 years with no problems.
Yessir exactly! Very well said man! Respect
Does it pulsate like this one? I'm really I terested but would like to get a straight beam.

Sounds good. But sadly you are limited to Beretta/Taurus, Glock, Sig,and Hk. I'm surprise it's so little gun manufacturers.

You did a great job installing those grips. Love how they go all the way up.
Thank you man, I appreciate that. My wife is better at installing them but I did do these! Respect
Love your channel. I’m a total minimalist with pistols. That said, cool idea.
I have the original Glock 17 Gen 1 I purchased new decades ago. I even bought the Glock add-on laser. (Lasermax came out later). I found I actually hit better using sights; however, I recognize their usefulness in some situations. Consequently I have several light/laser combos in the collection.

Sometimes simple is best. Night sights are really all you need for most carry guns.
This. The simpler my carry is the better.
Night stand weapon has the light/laser combo. Sighted in at 7 yards. It makes hitting the target while staying target focused extremely easy. I train shooting from different angles and can see the value add.

Red dot optics you are target focused. But it takes training to get to that level.
I have tried red lasers before, and I find them difficult to acquire downrange in many conditions. Green would be better in some conditions. Green dot optics work MUCH better for me.
Totally agreed about lasers. Useful when you can’t get a site picture.

if your doing a review on a product it would be nice to see it isolated not just what it can do👍
Might try it out, thanks ,I never even seen them before thanks for the great vids
I definitely agree on the statement you said about it not being necessary to have a light on your edc that you carry, only pistol I have with a light on it is my home defense that’s about it lol. @ funny you say that because I just added a mini hand held flashlight to my edc aswell, respect fam!
Thats pretty cool. I've never seen one of those before. I may have to test one of those out.
The light is for the moments when you go from a lit area to a dark area...yes eyes adjust but it takes awhile
They still make these Lasermax guide rods? I thought they went the way of the Dodo like at least 5 years ago.
I don’t carry a light in the day but in the night it’s better to just have and not need it but lasers definitely slept on
Old school build bro I dig it
S&W Jframe with crimson trace grip laser. Laser goes on when gripping by the button on the grip.
Faster than any sight red dot fiber sight night sight iron sight etc.
Put the laser on the target keep it there while pressing the trigger. Better hits too.
How about Crimson Trace laser’s. You only have to grip the gun to have them turn on.
Yup! I have those as well. This guide rod turns on after the first shot as well!
Respect!
It would be cool if lasermax made a flashlight version
Ok can I be that guy and ask what that little knife in the thumbnail is?

@@spnfirearms Yes, the tube. It took me about 20 minutes. You have better dexterity than me.
Been wanting one idk why they are so appealing
Because they are amazing. Extremely underrated, don’t lose zero, etc! Respect
@ Don’t have any Glock handguns yet but as soon as I got my 26 that’s the first thing going in
I had crimson trace laser grip on Kimber 1911.
Cool idea… a bit sad LaserMax do not support Springfield platforms.
I kept a Lasermax guide rod in my G43 for years. I absolutely love it, but then I got drawn into the red dot craze. I still throw it in once in a while just for the hell of it. Only gripe about it is that if you don't use the lasermax battery pack, replacement batteries tend to not work.
Pretty slick tool. They run around 330 bucks on their website.

Exactly. I leave most accessories for the wannabe tacticool people!!!
I really hope you can get get your hands on that Ruger RXM. Curious on your thoughts on it.
Thats a really cool idea. Not maybe something to use in tenths of a second but would be great if you are not oriented enough to aim well for whatever reason. I wonder if this holds zero in long term practice. Id love to give this try
I have a Bersa Thunder with a LaserLite TR16 green laser, auto on. It on when I draw my weapon, making hip shots easy.
haven't seen those in years!
You can change the setting and stop omit from flickering if you turn it on and off real fast 2 times from the same side it should be in the manual
I think that lasers excel in one scenario...entry teams. For the first guy to go though the door with a ballistic shield.
They work good I have a guide rod laser from laser max in my glocks, 22, 23, and 27. I am partial to them
I have a Armalaser gripsense laser on my Ruger LCP Max for quick target acquisition from a pocket
I tried the Lasermax and was disappointed for three important reasons. I carry IWB and could not find a holster that would not occasionally turn the unit on under retention pressure. SPN Firearms, What knife is in the thumbnail?
The boker magnum lightning!
@thanks, gotta check that one out. My usual carry is a benchmade shootout
I have the green laser rod for my g19 you still have to mash the takedown pins to activate the laser ….. in a fast draw …don’t think I’ll have time to activate it

KINDA AGREE WITH U IT JUST COST A LOT I PAID 350 IN 2010
There are videos of them turning on and off with each subsequent shot. Was enough to scare me away years ago.
Hey there, what’s the knife in the thumbnail called?
39 IS PERFECT 45 SHOOT SO SMOOTH
What knife was in the picture?
Cool video I need to revist lasers thanks stay safe.
Lasers save everyone's lives. Red dots get you lawsuits
I can't quite put my finger on why I really like your videos but I do
heck yes I still carry with lasers, I leave it on while out just to make sure it stays on when I need to, it's rechargeable and I own like 20 lol
Fair enough! Respect love to hear it.
if it had a shake awake setting it be perfect
Agreed!! Respect

if you can tell someone is aiming a firearm at you, why would you bother with a flashlight? Point shooting is a thing.
🔥that’s so fire can u drop me a link do u think I can put it on my g23 or 19
Just google laser max Glock lasers and you will find them
I have a light, laser and a red dot on my carry gun. I don't see a reason to pick and choose.
What knife is that
Big love fam
Respect
And thank you
I still use laser on some guns try moving while shooting red dots then do it with a laser see which one is easier ;)
Flashlights are good for wildlife.

For the al gore rhythm. Another banger 💣💥
GEN 3 IS MY FAV GLOCK MY GEN 3 27 HAS THE LASER GUIDEROD
I like my Olight laser light combo
They have a reputation for causing malfunctions.
Based off of what? A couple videos online? The only testing that matters is the testing you do with yours and I have thousands of rounds through 3 of them and not a single issue! Respect
Thanks, but I'll pass. If I am trusting my life to a Glock, I am trusting it to a STOCK Glock with no aftermarket accessories.
Came for the knife in the thumbnail 😕
It’s a boker lightning magnum! Video coming soon on it
Good video
My home defense pistol has a light.. Something and in a scenario where I'd have time to turn it on.
I edc a flashlight anyhow for actual flashlight use throughout the day.
But On a daily carry gun, no. Not anymore. Night sights and done. Even a red dot isn't necessary. In a real defensive gunfight, you aren't using sights or lining that dot up.
Been there done that all I'm gonna say.
i like the guide rod laser but not in a Glock
I have a green dot and a laser in mine
My co workers talk so much trash about me with a Lazer they are old school and even hate red dots, 😂
Anyway I love my Lazer and to me is easier then looking through the dot window. I can look exclusively at my target, even shoot from the him. Lazer Love for Sure.
I need this integrated 1for sure.
Dude trying to jump a backyard fence then saw that red dot on em dude went into stop motion and ran for his life! 😂My co workers talk so much trash about me with a Lazer they are old school and even hate red dots, 😂

Defense 👍
Id rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
Well said!! Respect!!
Red dots will fade like external lasers, now we will go back to integral lasers, it’s all cyclical
@@spnfirearmsglad to see someone talking about how so much of our preferences have really just been marketed to us
Interesting I believe we will see no casing red dots which really tickles my fancy
Lights and red dots are for cops
I don’t agree with that necessarily but I do a small bit. Respect
Wanted to let you know after all this time watching you I finally got a Glock 26 I wanted a gen 5 but I found a gen 4
So far I love it and it’s my edc you helped me find something I’m really comfortable with thanks man 👌💪🫡
In a real self defense situation I seriously doubt I’ll have time to use a laser light red dot or whatever other fancy stuff they try to market me. However, laser and dots seem like good found for the range - and that would be my only motivation to get any of that. Call me crazy.
That’s why we can all carry how we want. I’m putting this option out there for anyone who might like it. It turns on after the first shot so you don’t need anytime to continue to use it after the first shot..
Respect!
