    this was a VERY helpful video! thank you for taking the time to put this together. My wife and I are going out to MOAB in a month, and have rented a UTV for a day. We will be on there on a Saturday, so having some of the other trails as options is great! This will be our first time there, and we'll have the UTV for one day. any "must do's" that you recommend? keeping in mind, a moderately experienced driver.

    • @momentsofadventure
      @momentsofadventure  Год назад +1

      How exciting! Well, being that you are going to rent on a Saturday, I would suggest some of the lesser known trails, to avoid it being too crowded. Gemini Bridges, Hey Joe Canyon and Rim Trail have some great views, and are not terribly far away from each other. If you want to brave the crowds, Poison Spider is really fun. Use a map system, because there are MANY ways out of there... some more challenging than others. If its a warm day, I would suggest Bartlett Wash, or seven mile wash and hope there are puddles to cool off. :) Bartlett wash is pretty short, and Tusher Tunnel is right there, it is usually a cool spot at all times of the year, because you literally walk through a cave. Hope this helps! Have a great time!

      @@momentsofadventure thank you very much for taking the time to reply. We're from IL, and this will all be new to us. we are just passing through MOAB, but have set aside an entire day to do all that we can! the UTV is reserved and we have it form like 8a - 6p! hoping that gives us plenty of time to hit the trails!!!! Then we'll find a spot in town to eat and reflect on the day :)!

    The Best video on Moab I've seen. I am coming down in March for a once in a lifetime trip. If you only had two days to ride what trails would you recommend.

    • @momentsofadventure
      @momentsofadventure  2 года назад

      Hi Redd Foxx! Two days....... for scenic views, I would choose Hey Joe Canyon, Pucker Pass, Rim Trail and the Gemini Bridges Trail. For just some fun riding, I would suggest Poison spider, and do the full ride that includes rusty nail and the crack (Plan for a FULL day for this one) and I absolutely love Bartlett Wash, especially if you have riding buddies. The wash cuts in and out of the main trail, and it's just FUN. If you like sand and dunes, White wash is also super fun, and easy to spend the day playing over there. Have a great time, March is an excellent time to go!

    • @momentsofadventure
      @momentsofadventure  2 года назад

      The little gate entry spot at 13:38, is the entry point for Fins and Things, and Hells Revenge (the sand riding area). There is a fee to ride in that area ($5). The little shack is where you pay. Its kinda like a state park entry.... Someone is in there to take money, give you a permit for the day, and a map if you need it.

    • @momentsofadventure
      @momentsofadventure  Год назад +1

      October is a great time to go! If you are set up for dry camping, my favorite place is White Wash Sand Dunes.... You have to drive about an hour on a dirt road, but the views are amazing, and you can park up on a bluff overlooking the sand dunes. There are also several areas closer to Moab as well. If you are looking for a campground,... there are several in town, that look good, but we have never stayed there. If you are looking for hotels, there is a brand new one as your coming into town that looks nice, but again we have not stayed in town. Hope you have a great trip!!

    Are you able ride your sxs to most of these trails from your camp or do you trailer most of it?

    • @momentsofadventure
      @momentsofadventure  2 года назад

      Our side by side is street legal, and tagged, so we can ride it to all of the trails in the video. If you are not tagged, from this camping spot you can get to: Hey Joe, White Wash, Bartlett Wash, Ten Mile Wash, and Tusher Tunnel. You would have to trailer to Poison Spider as well as Hells Revenge and Fins and Things. We are tagged out of Idaho, its very easy and not expensive. Hope this helps!

    Would you be able to tell me which campground is closest a trail for utv?

    • @momentsofadventure
      @momentsofadventure  2 года назад

      There is dispersed camping all over Moab and the surrounding area. There are several campgrounds mixed throughout the dispersed camping areas, but most do NOT have hookups, no water, no power. You would have to look at individual campgrounds for size of spots and their specific services. For full hookups, you will want to look in town (would have to trailer or have UTV licensed), or Sun Outdoors Canyonlands Gateway. Sun Out Doors is near many trails that you would not have to trailer your UTV to get to, BUT they were VERY rude last time we were there. If you don't need full hook ups and still want the campground feel, I would check out Lone Mesa Campground. Hope this helps!

    Are street legal SXS allowed on Hwy 191? If not is there a legal route or trail you take to get from the Dubinki well rd camp to the Sand Flats recreation area? I will be going next month and do have a Utah street legal plate on my machine

    • @momentsofadventure
      @momentsofadventure  Год назад +1

      Yes, UTVs are allowed on Hwy 191 if they are plated. We have run Hwy 191 a lot to make a quick trip back to town or camp without having to go thru all the trails. Once you get north of town, I suggest you hug the shoulder though to let cars go by and not hold up traffic.

      Hey Roy, we use Gaia GPS on our phone to track our rides and download tracks from other riders. It is a great paid app that works really well on the Iphone without having to spend money on a stand alone GPS unit. There are many books as well that are available, one of my favorite is below:

    Beware ATV, UTV people that think you can ride your “street legal” machines on the streets of Moab. The rules have changed. Democrats have infested this town built on off-road activities. If you are from a state that registers your street legal machine through the DNR versus the DMV, you are no longer legal in Moab. This means you will be forced to trailer to each individual trails and are no longer welcome in town to spend money at gas stations, restaurants, pharmacies, or any of the other small businesses that exist because of you. A DMV versus DNR licensed vehicle has no advantage with the exception of Moab giving you a ticket and collecting the money. (Democrat modus operandi). It’s an excuse to tax you. I have been going there for the last 8 years, and sadly will not return. I’m not trailering my ATV from trail to trail with my 67’ Motorhome/trailer. They must be nuts in Moab to allow this. I see this town turning into a ghost town in no time at all. Another example of the left infecting an American Town.
