- When Valerie Bertinelli first met Eddie Van Halen backstage after one of his concerts, the two hit it off almost immediately. Soon, they were married and raising their son Wolfgang Van Halen. But their marriage was plagued with difficulties from the beginning, mainly due to both spouses’ drug use.
Eddie and Valerie officially divorced in 2007 after many years apart, but the two remained close friends until the former's death in 2020, even previously attending each other’s subsequent weddings. @Mawmaw Sue no they got divorced because they had done too many stupid things and caused each other too much pain. It wasn't until after the divorce could they forgive each other. Valerie refused to watch him kill himself as well. He wouldn't stop doing the things that were making him sick.

They were my favorite 80's couple growing up. Eddie was my first rock star crush and I was a Valerie fan too. They were adorable and looked so much alike lol. So sad that Ed passed way too soon. He will always be one of my favorite guitarist. RIP EVH. Prayers to the family!😢
I was very sad to hear that Eddie Van Halen had passed away. I was in high school in the 80's when he and his band were spitting out hits!! My sympathies go out to his son Wolfee and to Valerie and Eddie's wife. RIP Eddie 😔💔🙏🎸

Valerie was the best thing to ever happen to Eddie. Very sweet of her to be there with him at the end. VH revolutionized music. Their tunes will live on forever. Amazing band.

Valerie knew Ed and how Ed was as a father thats why when Wolfie added wanted Wolf to go on tour at 16 she said of course. She said she knew he would protect him and Wolfie got to spend so much time with Ed, and those memories will forever be there. What a great gift to give your child especially when one of the child's parents go at a early age.

They loved each other even after divorce. And yes people will care after she dies which I hope doesn't happen for many years.

Very sad what alcohol and/or drug addiction can do. I believe they loved each other very much, start to finish. Valerie took the high road and did what she had to do for her child's sake, not every parent can make good (and hard) decisions like that. Eddie had demons even love couldn't fix. He nonetheless was a extraordinary musician that we were blessed to be entertained by, and I hope he's resting in peace now.

I was so upset to hear about Eddies death. I happened to be at their wedding in 1981. It was actually a very casual event but the bride was beautiful. Yes, Eddie was a bit hungover but he was always a super nice, laid back guy. It was so cute to see how much doted over him. Don’t let the comments in this video make you think their decision to marry was made in haste, or was a mistake. Anyone at their wedding could see how much they loved each other and how perfect they were together.
SIGNS OF TROUBLE #1: Dude is hung over at his own wedding. Nice guy: NOT. Ultimately, (hopefully) he is at peace. Loving thoughts for his family.

They really set an example for their son wolf that's how it should be when a couple slits up on good terms they truly cared about each other so sorry for the vanhalen family loss
People can love each other and not be good together as a couple. When the love is real it lasts forever. So glad Valerie was there with Wolfie and the rest of the family. Sorry for your loss.

When they were together, I thought they were the cutest couple in the world, because they looked so much alike. Everyone was calling her Valerie Van Halen, because they thought it had a nice ring to it. But you could just as easily call him Eddie Bertinelli! When they broke up, I was more heartbroken over that split than any other Hollywood marriage. They were TWINKIES!

Being kind to the other parent of your offspring is not about romantic, eros love, it’s about agape love. My only marriage ended with her infidelity 15 years ago. Her second marriage also ended, and her children’s dad is the only family she has left. She’s a good mother & now grandmother. I and my family welcome her to family gatherings, as we have for years. There will be no thought of getting back together, but there is peace.
Valerie B’s life has more peace because she remained on good terms with Wolfgangs daddy.
billhurt62 being part of your ex’s family when you have children is just that. You ARE family. It’s so good for the children to have parents that can still keep the family relationships intact. Holidays graduations etc. It’s not always that way but it can be. Valeri and Eddy’s friendship and mutual love and respect for each other was so obvious. They grew up and it benefited their son.
I love this so much .I haven't been with my kids dad in 20 years. But I will always livevhim but 'm not in love with him .I was there for him this past summer when he had to go into the hospital several times .I was rushed to the hospital last week with severe pain .im ok ,but my adult kids were so upset they called dad and I welcome him into my home to help the kids anytime .And he was helping me as well and picked up after my procedures .

Wolfgang looks a lot like Valerie ❤️ Eddie ages very well! I remember watching Van Halen in the 80s on MTV Eddie always had that smile that reached his eyes. He’s an amazing guitarist!! My deepest sympathy to the family!
I was pissed at first because i wanted Valerie for myself. But i came around pretty quick cuz Ed was cool. 12 year olds can spot quality.

Quite saddening but people will honor Eddie and his legacy. EVH is such a ground breaking guitarist and a wonderful musician. As a guitarist for book trailers about comics who's influenced by Van Halen, I wish Eddie a hymn while missing his presence that inspires.
Not only groundbreaking, but he is literally considered the number one guitarist of all time.

They were such a big part of my childhood. She as the actress I could relate to (age-wise) and he a musician I just adored.

David Lee Roth was The Quintessential "Frontman"! Micheal Anthonys' Background Harmonies rounded out their Sound! Three years later, when I was getting A and B grades in College Accounting/Marketing/Psych/Biology courses, I still smiled when I heard new Van Halen songs, such as "Everybody Wants Some", "Dance The Night Away", and "Unchained" RIP EVH
