Hi William. I am a muslim who has been living in London for 6 years. I can relate with a lot of what you say in your videos. What I wanted to share is that all the things we have been exposed to is a London issue. In London, everything is about look and every type of relation is transactional. If you go to a city like Birmingham for example, you'll notice that people are much more friendly and open.

    • @williambarylo

I've heard it's even more friendly in Scotland. I've had friends who left the North and the Midlands for Scotland because even Birmingham was too harmful to them. Maybe it's all on a spectrum and once you move out of London things get exponentially better!

This was a necessary conversation, so thank you for making it happen. Thank you for being open and genuine. So be it if this means exposing corrupt Muslims. Even if my life depended on it, I would never abandon Islam, but I would abandon corrupt Muslims in a heartbeat. I've learned that if you care about what other people want from you, you'll be in their misery, but if you do what the Creator wants from you, you'll be in the Creator's mercy. I prefer mercy.

FYI, The Ancient Egyptian Pyramids were originally built as altars, to worship the Elohim Extraterrestrials👽
Bible: Isaiah 19:19 In that day shall there be an altar (pyramid) to the Elohim👽 in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar (obelisk) at the border (of the pyramid) thereof to the Elohim👽.
That's why the pyramids align with the 3 stars of Orion ⭐⭐⭐.
"God" is pagan name, it's from the name Gad, Gad in the bible was a Babylonian God of fortune. Google it! The real Creator YHWH l believe may have been an Extraterrestrial that came to earth thousands of years ago, and according to the Bible's book of Revelation will be back again one day after the evil one known as The Antichrist is revealed.
Isaiah 65:11 But ye are they that forsake me the Elohim YHWH, that forget my holy mountain, and prepare a table offering for Gad, the god of fortune.
I'm so happy that some Christians have finally added the Hebrew word for "god" and "gods" which is "Elohim" to their Bibles.
Berashit (aka Genesis) 1:1 In the beginning ( the) Elohim created the heaven and the earth.
Bereshit (aka Genesis) 1:26 Then Elohim said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness👽.
      Genesis 3:8
Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Elohim YHWH as he was 🚶‍♂️WALKING🚶‍♂️ in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Elohim YHWH among the trees of the garden.
      Yechezkel (aka
Ezekiel ) 1:5 ...within it 🛸 was the form of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: They had the appearance of man ( human) 👽
Yahsuah aka Jesus may have been an Elohim Extraterrestrial, Son of the ET Elohim YHWH 👽
John 10:36 Jesus said "I am the Son of (the) Elohim YHWH" 👽🛸
      John 8:14 Jesus " l am not from this world " 🌍✨
John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said unto Jesus, "You are My Lord, and my Elohim"👽.
John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended🛸 to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend🛸 unto my Father, and your Father; and to my Elohim, and your Elohim👽.
Acts 1:9-10 Now when Jesus had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up🛸, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. They looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up🛸
      In our Future...
Revelation 21:2 l saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem ( Spaceship🛸), coming down out of heaven from YHWH Elohim 🛸👽
Revelation 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! Elohim YHWH dwelling place🛸 is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and Elohim YHWH himself will be with them and be their Elohim.
The truth is finally being revealed! And the truth shall set you free! 🛸👽😁👍

The issue has become that submission to God (Islam) has become synonymous with adopting an ethnic identity here in the UK, and therefore pointing out the toxic traits of that group, questioning certain practices of the group, or not conforming to that group is seen received as a threat to the religion. And because submission to God is effectively participation in a foreignh ethnic culture in the UK, it becomes inherently foreign. And therefore many leave this foreign social group to participate more coherently with the general society, and the general society do not submit to God, because the truth is now packaged as a foreign, toxic, and ethnic faith.

I think your analysis is on point! A lots of things have been mixed up, in addition to a certain way of being British which means stay in your corner, don't welcome newcomers and perpetuate your divisions. Working in non Muslim spaces puts me out of my comfort zone but, especially in the US, I've come across many people of all faiths and none who have very similar ethics and vision of the world, and are much more open and sincere. It's a minority, but they exist. And that gives me so much hope!

When that same community rejects us, it's very painful. Honestly, if Islam didn't make sense, muslims would be the last reason for some of us to remain on our faith. I can tell you, the effort you are making in sharing your ideas in English which are different than the ones about successful, gimmicky, materialistic muslims then insha'Allah it's worth every effort.

Wholeheartedly, not “culturally”. I would still contest some of your claims akhi, one being that this is a “UK problem”. You mentioned how you felt the need to integrate with the local community, and that the language you picked up was Urdu. So I assume that the local muslim community that you have interacted with(for the most part), have been Pakistani people, and it’s sadly known the cultural/historical “nuances” that have made the Pakistani community so materialistic. They’ve been in the UK the longest, and they tend to have a Sufi inclination. Making it more probable that they get affected by this liberal/secular way of living.

Sounds like you lived in the west midlands area, a lot of small minded people here unfortunately. I was part of islamic societies and other organisations, and yes there are many problems here, tbh I'm thinking of leaving the UK as well, I'm hoping the rest of my family will follow.
The South Asian (I am South Asian) diaspora has a very selfish mentality over here where they will only prioritise their family/tribe/caste/ethnicity but it also depends on where you live the UK as well, West Midlands, Yorkshire, and east London are worst affected by this type of mentality and I don't know what to do to change this because there will always be at least one person in each family through each generation who has this mentality and consequent problems (showing off, credit card debt etc) which you describe. It's ironic because the first South Asian immigrants who came to the UK were very scrupulous with their money and established many businesses without much debt yet their descendants feel the need to get into debt just to show off to the community, it's a disease and Islam is the only cure. May Allah guide us British Asian Muslims.
And don't get me started on marriage, if you're not Pakistani, Afghan, Bengali, or Gujarati you will have a very hard time finding a spouse in the UK, alhamdulillah I had the ability to go back to my homeland to find a good spouse because I am not from these communities, I looked for 18 months before making my decision to go back home.
British Asian Muslims have driven someone very valuable away from them due to greed, selfishness and stupidity. I hope you find contentment, happiness and joy wherever you're going in sha Allah. May Allah cure the diseases of our hearts here in the UK, Ameen.

My wife (British Pakistani) and me think that the main issue UK Muslims have been contaminated by UK culture. South Asian culture in itself is beautiful on many aspects and can be open to novelty. I've had much better experiences with Pakistanis born in Pakistan than with those born in Britain. For example, rarey someone from Pakistan will be biased towards Eastern Europeans like in the UK. I think Britain has enforced an inferiority complex on many, which pushes many to abide by Brutish norms of who is valid/who is invalid.

However if you are Bangladeshi in East London or Pakistani in Birmingham and have your extended family around in East you might find yourself with people around when hardship hits. Or a revert in Cambridge where you have a rare but very inclusive and supportive community around CMC, but these are very specific and local contexts. Perhaps it's easy to make that conclusion, but as someone who was raised in the UK, Arabs can be just as bad. We are seeing what is happening is Tunisia with black migrants. I personally view it as being because there is more room to be embraced by society if you dance the right dance (read: hate yourself eg go overboard with the PREVENT training in institutions rather than just what is required; talk about how uniquely oppressive your culture is to women) here in the UK. In France, there is no such opportunity (correct me if I'm wrong) and therefore people perhaps make more of a stance and as a community itself facing police brutality, North Africans are more likely to have solidarity with Black siblings in faith and humanity than here in the UK. We do not face police brutality or the same type of criminalisation here.

Well, this has been a sobering video. But i must say this; I understand that as a revert it can be new and difficult for some to differentiate between: people who are only muslims by name, those who are practicing and those who are practicing sincerely. When you grow up in a "muslim" society with a sincerely practicing family, as i have, you quickly learn these differences, it becomes normal. I've learned to not expect the qualities of İslam in just anyone who is culturally Muslim. So actually, these issues arent only British issues, but global issues of Muslims who are losing their faith. These people dont want to see those who remind them of Allah. But dont despair, as long as we are sincere and patient in our way, Allah will reward you with his friends. (Also this video of yours may be misunderstood if watched by a nonmuslim and even used as a way to insult the deen and muslims, i worry.)

I'm careful not to give food to islamophobes as I always mention that these problems have nothing to do with Islam, Middle Eastern or South Asian culture. There's a scholar called Muhammad Nizami who has written quite a bit on this subject and something he repeatedly mentions is the superstitious approach to religion. How many muslims have actually read more than a few pages of the Quran inn a language they actually undersand, but have sung the phonemes in Arabic profusely and engaged blindly in rituals. It shows Islam with the capital I is social club here where we do bizarre things. Islam has become a proper noun, and identity when it means submission to God, and God uses it as a verbal noun.

you are talking a lot about the importance of doing your own researche. I find this difficult, first, the only explinatory to the Holy Quran in my language is all about grammar since the one who translated it is not even Muslim himself. So, I tried to learn a little Arabic and compared different short surahs from the two translations of the Quran that exist in my language, plus two different in English and one from another language and came to the conclution it is not even possible, the surahs are not talking about the same thing...and then again, the other Quran that is translated by a Muslim is translated from Urdu, not Arabic...so my way to The Holy Quran is just to listen and respond intuitively to beautiful resitation or read and accept it is just one translation.

We are both academics. (Amongst my degrees I have a SOAS degree in Islamic Societies and Cultures/Area Studies and speak fluent Arabic)... the 'religion' in theory and the cultures of peoples who belong to "Islam' in practice is very very very different. I am British-American and I was in Islam for 25 years.... in the middle east.... taken advantage of, abused, held prisoner in a remote village, raped (including my preschool daughters), robbed of everything including my inheritance from my wealthy father, lucky to escape with my life. Tricked into being one of multiple wives and my ex tried to murder our daughters. I could not use Islamic law to defend myself because tribal custom was stronger than 'Islam'. I am lucky to be alive today. I escaped with my seven kids. It's me and God now....I have no time for institutions and communities around them. I have forgiven, no bitterness, I keep telling myself it was only a few people... we are free and safe now. I have to move on. Blessings and compassion to everyone. p.s It is easier I think for women who are converts to blend in than men, because of sociological and psychological reasons/ power dynamics.

    Very Simple Answer:
French Muslims are either Maghrebi or Converts with Maghrebi Friends, The Maghrebi Culture is aggressive on the outside but sweet in the inside.
British Muslims are MOSTLY from Hind (South Asia), and as a south asian living in South Asia myself, our people are drowning in Bidah, arrogant, and nationalistic.
But it's not all doom and gloom. Islam is now more respected in Gen Z here in South Asia due to celebs in the west accepting islam, because South Asia is still colonized mentally by the West, so when they see Westerners accepting Islam, they too respect it. I don't get disturbed for practicing islam by Gen Z-ers but do by Millennials and above here.
But I don't like how you always think it is bad if the british muslims want to live luxuriously, Luxury is not haram, the most you can say it is makrooh, but these muslims grew up hearing from their parents and grandparents the extreme poverty of the british raj, so to them, this luxury and "pilgrimage to dubai" is their "Freedom", their freedom away from being a colonized people. I do agree tho that muslims WORLDWIDE have this obsession with the West.
Here in Bangladesh specifically, it doesn't matter if you are white/black/asian, if you are rich and have a USA or UK or AUS or NZ or FR or CAND passport, you will pretty much be worshipped here. So yeah I do understand what you mean, i just don't like how pessimistic you are.
The tides are changing, but every generation had its problems, our problem is Excess Money, the generation before, their problem was Colonization, the generation before that, their problem was Grave Worship and Saint Worship and lack of focus on Technological Advancement. We can trace problems of each generation all the way back to Yazid's (Ibn Muawiya) generation.
