Your videos are amazing and this one is also handy.
Thank you so much. My mouse isn't working so I needed to control my pc with keyboard. This was very helpfull :)
Hello and thank you for your comment! Very happy to be of help =)
same problem 😄
HEY!!! THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEO...YOU ARE AMAZING ....I have seen many tutorials, and none has the attitude, such as to teach or present a product. You have talent as a driver of launch products.
Hello and thank you very much for your comment and support! Very happy to be of help, and I'm looking forward to seeing you on videos to come =)
Thank you man. Very useful. Many things that I didn't know.
You're welcome! Very happy to be of help =)

You're welcome! Very happy to be of help =)
Thanks buddy
Helped me alot

Does Shift + Arrow Keys allow you to highlight multiple files in Explorer? My mouse is broken and registers holding left-click as multiple rapid-clicks, so my usual method of holding left-click and dragging the mouse to highlight multiple files no longer works.
Hello and thank you for your comment! Yes it does! Of course, you wouldn't be able to select multiple files that are not side by side (like when you press ctrl and click), but this does help you select a group of files. Other buttons like home, end, page up and page down also work the way you'd expect.
Thanks a lot man, I really needed that for my current situation.
You're welcome! Glad to be of help =)
Fantastic video, lots of information in a short and concise description. Thanks dude! There are way too few *navigation* tutorials on RUclips.
Hello and thank you very much for your comment! Glad you liked the video =)
I had too much work and got tired of moving my hand from keyboard to mouse. Thanks you're a savior
You're welcome! Glad to be of help =)
thanks thanks thanks a lot.......... I've been looking for a long time to find a video on keyboard gestures.... thank you so much... this video is so much helpful...
You're welcome! Very happy to be of help =)
one problem i keep running into while trying to do this, is "selecting" the desktop. so for example i want to navigate to a photo file on my desktop, i do so, and then i close out of the file. now i have to click on the desktop to be able to start navigating again. i noticed if i have multiple things open, i can use TAB to select the desktop, but that option doesnt work when there isnt anything currently open. is there some way to "click" the desktop to start navigating again?
Hello and thank you for your comment! I believe it works correctly, you just have to TAB many times to get there. If you're in doubt, press TAB then go left and right a couple of times to see what's actually within the current "scope" of selection. That may trigger a selection to appear on the desktop.
Thank you for responding! I got my new mouse and I didn't even need to use the keyboard lol! But I do have another question. How can you connect your mouse to your computer WITHOUT the receiver?
You're welcome! Glad you were able to figure it out =)
For mice that come with USB receivers, you _must_ use the receiver, as the mice normally transmit a kind of signal that your computer cannot pick up.
This video was really useful, thank you so much
You're welcome! Very happy to be of help =)
thank you so much, it's very helpful
You're welcome! Glad to be of help =)
Hi. I'm watching this video because I somehow broke my mouse and I am going to buy a Logitech Mouse with a receiver but I need to use Unifying to download so I needed to watch this video. How do you click with the cursor on your keyboard with the arrows near NumLock? Also can you connect your mouse with a receiver WITHOUT unifying or anything? Just automatically works. Sorry for long question, hope you'll respond
Hello and thank you for your comment! When you're using Mousekeys (which I believe is what you're doing), you can press the "5" key to click.
I'm afraid I have no experience with the Unifying platform so I can't say! It's proprietary technology by Logitech... Usually wireless stuff are just plug and play.
Thanks for sharing such a useful information
You're welcome! Glad to be of help =)
Very helpful video! It's 2019 and it's still Rock! Thanks for sharing :)

Love this!!! Visual images of the examples would be even better!!

Hello and thank you for your comment! Glad you liked the video =)
Thanks. Suppose you turned off your touchpad by mistake. How do you turn it on again just using your keyboard?
Hello and thank you for your comment! This depends on what laptop you're using. If you're using a HP like I have, there is a little area on the upper left corner of the touchpad. Give it a double-tap and that should re-enable the touchpad. Other manufacturers will probably use one of the Fn keys.
By the way can you recommend some apps that could turn my android phone to a touch pad for win 10? And through USB cable, not wireless
Thanks again :)
Hello and thank you for your comment! This isn't really something I have done, so I can't recommend specific apps.
nice video and the mouse key helped me
Hello and thank you very much for your comment! Glad to be of help =)

Hello and thank you very much for your comment! Glad you got it all working in the end =)

About redo: In many programs it's Ctrl+Shift+Z rather than Ctrl+Y
Hello and thank you for your comment! Good point! Programs are increasingly moving towards Ctrl+Shift+Z these days, though Ctrl+Y was the norm when this video was released.
Very helpful. 👌🏻
Thank you for your comment! Glad to be of help!
Hello how to check that checkbox in the mouse key?
Hello and thank you for your comment! I'm not sure if you mean that you're using the Mousekeys feature, but if you are, position your cursor over the checkbox and press 5 on the numpad.
I saw your video and it was really helpful thank you. How do I select text from webpage using my keyboard. I can only select text on microsoft but I can't do it on the webpage.
Hello and thank you for your comment! This is a bit difficult, though possible.
You have to figure out where the invisible cursor is, then essentially do this same thing - Ctrl+Shift+left or right to make a selection. It's not the best solution and maybe mousekeys would be a better choice in this regard.
Thank you sir, for all your hard work. It would be a good Idea if you can do a video on this matter. Nevertheless, I figured out how to select text from the webpage using the keyboard. I pressed right+5 on the biginning of the article once selected I continued with Ctrl+Shift+right.
Very helpful ❤
Hello and thank you for your comment! Glad to be of help :)

How to click in website particular word or link without using mouse. Pls help
Hello and thank you for your comment! Links and buttons can be reached by repeatedly pressing TAB. You'll notice as you do so that different elements on the page get highlighted in turn. When the button you want gets highlighted, simply press space.
WHEN I search something up on the web browser how do I even click on the links?
Hello and thank you for your comment! Use tab to select an item onscreen, then press space to click it.
Thank you! you save my life
You're welcome! Glad to be of help =)
Many not know about the virtual desktops as well. You can create one by using Win+ctrl+D. You can close current virtual desktop by Ctrl+win+F4. You can switch through various virtual desktops by using Win+alt+left or right arrow keys and can rename them by pressing Win+Tab and renaming them manually.
Hello and thank you for your comment! That's great! It's not a feature for everyone but those who _do_ use it can absolutely benefit from being able to switch between them quickly using keyboard shortcuts.
@@NERDfirst I appreciate the little effort of actually replying back. These little things that many youtubers just don't bother to do actually do pay off.
There's a lot out there to be learnt, and I learnt something here today. The least I could do is to acknowledge it and thank you for the info =)
ThxQ very much sir..
You're welcome! Very happy to be of help =)
This is helping me learn i am really bad at using a Pc So This Helped much!

You're welcome! Very happy to be of help =)
Tip: Also use Ctrl + L to jump to address bar in browser.
thanks but how do I click on stuff if I go online??
Hello and thank you for your comment! While on the page, press "tab". As you keep pressing tab you should see that items on the page are getting highlighted in turn. Keep pressing it until it goes over the thing you want to click, and press space.
thanks.. appreciate it!!
You're welcome! Glad to be of help =)
Download the cVim extension for your browser.
Hey can anyone help me?? I've been using Windows without a mouse for about a week just fine. Now however I restarted my PC and the cursor vanished -- cannot get it back. I have no mouse to plug in. What can I do?
Hello and thank you for your comment! This is pretty unusual. Perhaps your computer is in tablet mode and is waiting for touch input instead. You can find the toggle to switch it off here. As long as your keyboard is still working you should be able to get there: support.lenovo.com/sg/en/solutions/ht501466
Hey thank you :)
not all heroes wear cap!
What keyboard has a start button?
Hello and thank you for your comment! The majority of keyboards do, except the ones designed for apple operating systems, in which that is replaced with the "command" key instead.
How do you select things on websites
Hello and thank you for your comment! It's all the same - Keep pressing TAB until items on the page get selected then press space to select them.
Wow, thanks man!
You're welcome! Glad to be of help :)

Hello and thank you for your comment! Use Alt-Tab to switch to it, then close it by pressing Alt-F4.
0612 TV w/ NERDfirst i mean background pages

Can u do this on a mac / linux ? can u makě video / s about raspberry pi? keep up good work:)
Vinko Žakelj Hello and thank you for your comment! Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with Mac or Linux at all, so I can't really say. I also don't have a raspberry pi. I want to get one though, and perhaps when I do I'll make videos!
Nice video! Sorry for not watching this video on the day it came out, I'm a few days behind on my RUclips subscriptions.
Coleslaw Productions No worries! I'm glad you liked the video and thank you for the idea.
Hey, do you have Skype? I want to talk to you.
Coleslaw Productions Hello! Sorry but my Skype account is for personal use. Feel free to send messages to my RUclips inbox!
Ok, It's nothing important, anyway. I just wanted to talk to you because, well, there was no real reason other than I'm just a fan of yours. Comments are still perfectly fine, and you just responded pretty quickly anyway. :P
Coleslaw Productions Hahaha, thank you! I appreciate the thought. Feel free to shoot me any messages / comments anytime.
Wow. Great
Hello and thank you for your comment! Glad you liked the video =)

Will I be able to use cmd?
Hello and thank you for your comment! Yes you would be able to. If you're using windows 7 or newer, press the win key on your keyboard, type "cmd" and hit enter.
If you're using XP or older, you can use the "run" dialog box instead, which opens with the Win-R hotkey.
Hey why is your channel not growing up (as in not blowing up)? This is great content! Maybe increase the quality.
Hello and thank you for your comment! I don't do any marketing at all, that's why! But it's okay, this is a fun passion project. Those who need me can find me =)
Thank you.

Its really helpful.

Hello and thank you for your comment! Use TAB to "jump" to the correct box. Then press space to click.
@@NERDfirst Thank you
thank you so much. and you forget the 48th number....,
Hello and thank you for your comment! Turns out I have! Oops, not great at counting >.
ha haa..,
Great! But why didn't you show while explaining?
Hello and thank you for your comment! I'm sorry you've had a bad experience! I considered much of these things self-explanatory. If you'd like to share which parts of the video aren't clear, I'll be happy to explain further here in the comments.
You are a legend
Hello and thank you very much for your comment! Glad you liked the video =)
Cool.
thank's buddy
You're welcome! Glad to be of help =)
Fun fact: in chrome, there are three shortcuts to focus on URL tab:
Ctrl + L
Alt + D (easiest for me)
F6
Hello and thank you for your comment! Good that there are so many alternatives! Thank you for sharing =)
@@NERDfirst Thanks for replying! Glad to know you are around
And thank _you_ for commenting! I try to respond as much as I can. I don't get a whole lot of comments so it's manageable!
Wow ,your accent with computer knowledge
Hello and thank you for your comment! Hope I've not been too difficult to understand!
Can you please reviewing how to reactivate the mouse.
Hello and thank you for your comment! That'll depend on why the mouse isn't working in the first place! Perhaps you'd like to elaborate a little more?
@@NERDfirst
Yes and thank you for your reply! I was trying to work on my computer without the mouse and following videos to learn. Now I have the mouse back and would like to resume normal use and am searching videos to reverse this action.
Hello again! Once your mouse is connected, it should function as per normal. As far as I know there isn't really a way to "switch off" mouse control.
On Windows 8/10 the metro makes it impossible. Windows 7 minus is very legit to use only keyboard
Hello and thank you for your comment! I'm afraid I don't have a newer version of windows so I can't say! But if you are able to go into the "desktop mode" does it help?
Thanks I though I was cooked...my mouse and pad had died
You're welcome! Glad to be of help =)
That was eazy
Hello and thank you for your comment! That's great to hear =)
so thats how to bcome the magic computer kid 👀
Heh, or at least to look like one!
Directly come to the point
Hello and thank you very much for your comment! I'm sorry you've had a bad experience! I'll definitely take note of this for future videos. I've been trying to cut down on this, but unfortunately sometimes a little bit of context to set the scene is useful for most viewers.
shift-F10 doesn't work for me
+jon brt Hello and thank you for your comment! Depending on your setup, you may need to push Fn+Shift+F10 instead for the same effect!
Thanks for replying
+jon brt You're welcome! Happy to be of help =)
Right click ?
Hello and thank you for your comment! Depends on what you're doing exactly, but most of the time, there is a "Context Menu" button on your keyboard (near the right Windows key) that looks like the right-click menu. Press that to open the menu.
Why do you sound like Tamago2474
Who knows? Accents are an interesting thing.
how to check and uncheck in pc without mouse
Hello and thank you for your comment! This may vary depending on context, but most of the time, you can keep pressing TAB until the checkbox in question gets highlighted. Pressing space can then check and uncheck it.
nice
Thank you! Glad you liked the video!
how tf do you actually move the cursor
Hello and thank you for your comment! For that you need the MouseKeys feature. To turn it on, press your Left Shift Key + Left Alt Key + NumLock. A prompt will appear. Select "Yes" by using your TAB and space keys. You can then move your mouse with your numberpad. Press "5" to click.
@@NERDfirst I dont have a numlock
Can you turn it off
Hello and thank you for your comment! Yes you can. Use alt+F4 to close whatever program is open. If you press alt-F4 on your desktop, the shut down menu pops up.
So ... How can I navigate and open a file with ONLY THE KEYBOARD?
Hello and thank you for your comment! You can press start, type "file explorer", and hit enter to open up an explorer window.
Use the arrow keys to make your selection. Press enter to enter a folder and backspace to leave one. This allows you to navigate your computer's storage and find the file you want. To open that file, press enter again.
not trying to be mean or nuttin" but I couldn't keep up with all the wonderful hand waving and mesmerizing hand language. actual steps on a keyboard would have been a whole lot better.
Hello and thank you for your comment! Heh, I've heard! Hopefully I'm better at that these days =)
2 minutes & video not started yet
Hello and thank you very much for your comment! I'm sorry you've had a bad experience. The beginning of every video is designed to give context, and credit wherever credit is due, so it's an important part of the overall experience that cannot be omitted.
However, I am constantly looking for new ways to improve, so your feedback is greatly appreciated. Over the years I have made efforts to be more succinct in my introduction segments, so hopefully things have gotten better!

Hello and thank you for your comment! Very happy to be of help =)
Would have been way better if you also demonstrated everything you showed here.
Hello and thank you for your comment! I'm sorry you've had a bad experience! I had (perhaps mistakenly) considered much of these things self-explanatory. If you'd like to share which parts of the video aren't clear, I'll be happy to explain further here in the comments.
@@NERDfirst That's really nice of you to say but I think the problem is not with the explanation but with me who have had terrible experience with teachers who explain concepts verbally without performing them practically. It isn't You my friend, but me who needs to do that part all by my own. It's a great video! Thank you so much for making such content good luck and my best wishes for you 😇😇
I can certainly see why that's bad! Again, the offer stands - If you think you need more help with any of these, let me know. I'll be happy to demonstrate as it's something I should've done from the beginning!
