regarding your question: THE best are samsung, and crucials are good depending what model they have a really garbage models and a great models. you may have looked into bad models.
if you want to get WD get WE black the greed and blue are not so great. remember the bigger the GB of the ssd the longer it will last, because the more GB the higher the TBW (Terabytes Written).

I have the same model. My problem is, i hear a sudden tick sound then the laptop restarted itself and enter looking for a boot drive but the laptop can see the drive. I really need the file to transfer to another drive before changing to ssd. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you for the feedback! if you wish to support the channel you can LIKE or SUB or both :P
regarding your question: the tick sound is coming from HDD headers (actuators), highly recommend you to stop turning on and off you will only damage more the headers and won't be able to recover anything,
you need to get a SATA to USB adapter : amzn.to/3Un9lCr
install your SSD and install windows then once its finished then use the adapter to connect the HDD to the laptop and go to the OS partition and then to the USER folder and copy all the data you had in there and pull it out to the new windows.
YOUR HDD is about to DIE!

before replacing the laptop's internal storage, i need to make sure that all my files from the old drive are stored separately so i can just move them back once the new internal drive is installed right?

and is there a limit on how much storage the x507m model can handle or can i go more than a 1TB drive?

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  3 года назад

there is a better and faster way without installing windows freshly (i would personally install windows from scratch),
      you can get this adapter:
      amzn.to/2YZU0fH
and connect your new ssd to this adapter and plug it in and download a free version of:
      macrium reflect cloning program
and in there just simply clone the main HDD to the new ssd.
and after if you wish you can buy this enclosure:
      amzn.to/3rLTTAT
the ssd or hdd you can go up to what ever TB that is available in 2.5'
this is a 4tb but in there there is a option for 2tb also:
      amzn.to/3cQ0tlu

okay i need you to do the following:
open it up remove the ram and place the ram again,
make sure you connect the keyboard flex straight in all the way, and its not sideways, and at the end power on with charger connected,
else if no screen after 15sec.
do this power off and remove the battery and put it back the keyboard and dont connect the charger, just press and hold the power key for 30-40sec
then release the power on button and connect the charger and power on, if boot was success then power off and plug in the battery.
