What's up guys/gals,
So I have been wanting to get a mower cart for a while and couldn't decided whether to build one or get a used one or buy new. I couldn't find any used mower trailer carts, so I started my research. Most of the mower trailer carts I found were over $200 except for Harbor Freight. HF had their mower trailer cart listed at $129 and it peaked my interest. I liked the fact that it was made of metal, had big wheels and the cart titled for dumping action. I had to check it out. My concerns were that it might be flimsy, made out of thin metal or not be capable of handling some heavier yard work like hauling dirt of small boulders/rocks.
In this video I walk you through a review of my experience so far with this mower trailer cart. I go over installation, quality, and performance. All in all, I am happy with this trailer cart and for the money it's a pretty good deal.

The tire is rated for 450 and that's one side. So it's 900# capacity for the two tires and the 600# load capacity stays below that.
Thanks for sharing and watching 👊🏼
Thanks for the review - Nice info and tips. I just ordered this same cart from Harbor Freight and it will be delivered in a few days. This helped a lot. Thanks again.
Glad to hear it. I did notice paint chipping as of late, but that doesn’t bother me personally. I can always spray it back if with restoleum. Have fun with it 👊🏼
Thank you for making this video. I will be adding the handle and green & yellow paint job
Haha..that’s awesome. Glad you found it helpful. Pls like the video, much appreciated 👊🏽
Thank you for the detailed review, it was really helpful. Good job. Thank you
You welcome my friend!
Awesome review, thanks very much!
Glad it was helpful!
Nice video. I mounted a handle just above the bed release on the front panel. Get a nice big handle with large fasteners and washers.
That’s clutch, Tks for the tip. On my to do list, which grows everyday! Thanks for watching 👊🏽
Nice video, I just bought this cart.
Thanks man. Not a bad cart. Appreciate the positive feedback 👊🏼
I have the same cart 20+ years old. Looks like they have made a couple of improvements The only thing I have had trouble with is the tires..
Wow 20 yrs! That’s amazing. So far so good except paint chipping. Doesn’t bother me much, but sucks that is started peeling this soon.
My brother bought me the exact one! I love it and those two annoyances were exactly as stated. I did add sides to mine since I don’t really dump a lot. I added wood snd pvc pipe holders to hold my rakes, shovels, weed whacker, etc. I added a little handle to the tilt lever as an extension to raise it up higher. I smacked my face on the back bracket of my mower while reaching down. I want a better way to attach to my mower because I hate the pin for fear of smacking my face again. I also hate the backing up and the cart doesn’t cooperate. Any suggestions for that I’m open!
Oh man, I smacked my head once too! That’s funny. Unfortunately, I don’t think there is any way around using a pin to secure the cart. You just have to practice backing up with the cart. I’ve learned it’s much easier when you go slow as you back up.
My A frame doesn't line up with the latch that well. I have to pull ot forward a little bit to get it to seat
Same. I’ve also noticed some paint chipping, so you’ll prob have same issue. Didn’t bother me really, figured I can always spray paint it with restoleum if I feel the need.
I haven't put mine together yet I'm kinda dreading it. It sounds like a good idea about putting boards inside the trailer
It’s not too bad. The boards make a big difference. Good luck 👍🏼
I got a older one I’m gonna refab same color as my bad boy mower. It’s gonna look sick. Might do the wood floor like that to!
If it ain’t broke, just give it a paint job 👊🏼
Nice video. Just can’t make sense of the comment about if a tire goes flat the bead rolled sheet metal won’t hold up. Not understanding the logic there. Also it looks like 18 or 16 gauge sheet metal not 1/16
Thanks 🙏🏼 yea, not sure about that one.
Great video...I think it's probably 450lb is per tire and the axle is what's rated at 600lb. Thanks for the very thorough review.
U bet. She’s still going strong. Some paint chipping on the inside, but I leave it out under my deck. Thanks for the positive feedback 👊🏼
Nice
Thank you! 👊🏼
How did you get the decking to stay when using the dump feature. Cheers.
Hi, I cut them snug and there is about a 1” lip on the inside of the bottom corner of each side of the box that will keep your decking in place. You will have to align it across the box like I did. Hope that makes sense. I should have pointed that out when making the video. Thanks for watching 👊🏼
@@TrueGritDevelopment makes sense. Thank you 🙏🏽
These need hydraulic pistons like ones used for tailgates to slow down the cart from flying up when tipping it.
That’d be clutch
Anyone figure out a way to make a foot pedal for the dump release? 🤔
That’s a brilliant idea, watching
How’d you get the decking not to fall when you dump?
I put them across. There is a a little lip that will stop them from falling off.
DO YOU STILL HAVE YOUR HUSQVARNa tractor and habor freight trailer cart ?
Yes sir!
I wonder how easy it would be to install an electric linear actuator to do the dumping
That sounds pretty cool. Battery powered, right? If I have time, I may look into that. The bucket can get heavy, so it would have to be a bigger battery.
@True Grit Development you could run a cable to the lawn tractor and use the 12v from it. Many people have added front loaders to the tractors the same way, either electric or hydraulic actuators using the onboard 12v system
That went right over my head, didn’t even think about that. Thanks for the tip, I’ll definitely look into it 👊🏼
Is boards bolted down
The wood boards Input in? No, I cut them snug and laid them down.
If it wasn't for the process of putting it together it would be a great deal what time is money I guess I'd rather spend three times as much and get something more durable that I don't have to fiddle with for over an hour
Fair
Does this fit for a car?
Haven’t tried, but I wouldn’t recommend taking on road.
No it is most definitely not rated for road use!!!
I have power tools bolts spin quick
That definitely helps
on the beltway
Definitely not on the beltway
Definitely worth $100
Agreed. I do have to say the paint started peeling off, but still solid.
Just put one of these together, and i gotta say the hardware that comes with these is junk! Never stripped so many nuts in my life using a flathead screwdriver. There's extras of course, but I used them up. Gotta few loose ones... I don't think the bolts and the nuts have the same thread pitch lol
Dang…maybe you got a bad batch. I don’t recall having a similar issue. Then again it’s Harbor Freight. Thanks for watching 👊🏼
what about a road trip
I would not recommend that lol
Got tons of those free would never buy one.
IDK so far so gd for me. Light yard stuff. I take the kids for rides on it too.
Damn… he’s a handsome man! 😉
