  • Meet AK Dozanti.
She's a former Deputy Sheriff turned First Responder Wellness Coach & Specialist. In 2015 the affects of life and law enforcement caught up with her, she burned out just months after being named Officer of the Year. There’s a lot more to the story but she is honored to say that she helps first responders prevent burnout in their own lives so that they can free themselves from their mental battle.
In this world of go, go, go we are embracing a new series called "Sunday Reset" here at Law Enforcement Today. A lot of people spend the day before week meal prepping, cleaning, and generally getting themselves ready for the week ahead, and we've invited AK to come on and help our viewers mentally and emotionally reset for the week ahead as well.
If you'd like to learn more about AK or you'd like to contact her regarding one on one coaching for your mental well being, please visit her website at www.akdozanti.com

Thank you for this. I get Mike the Cop updates for videos, but, being that I have a hard time watching longer videos, I took a chance on this short one and it hit me perfectly. I'm a retired 30 year cop, two years out of the circus. During my career, I always heard the statistic of cops dying 18 months to 5 years post retirement. That is always in the back of my mind and, coupled with the nature of the job where all we see is death and destruction with our own partners getting killed or taking their own lives, I have always kept people at a "safe distance" emotionally, somewhat including my own family. I have a few very close friends and I love my family, but I still try to not get attached too deeply for fear of them being taking away or me dying prematurely, then from the job, but now with that statistic looming in my head. I am doing everything I can in retirement to stay healthy, especially now I have all that free time to exercise, refusing to be part of that statistic.

Great video. As a wife of a deputy who is getting closer to retirement, I'm NOT okay with the statistics about life expectancy after retirement. Fortunately, my husband does take care of himself physically and we have a strong spiritual foundation. But I always am looking for ways to support him because I get that his job takes a serious toll.

With some of the new changes, we are bringing in other first responder focused episodes in order to bring more awareness to all aspects of Law Enforcement. I know you guys love the funny stuff that made Mike The Cop so popular, but we have to expand on some of the other parts of law enforcement as well.
