I would of liked to see the fullers going toward the tip of the sword V"eed to infinity to draw the eye down the blade a bit and show off the pattern but that is being a bit picky. 😯Tyrell A+ man! What an undertaking to make this sword in Damascus! You did a great job man! The fullers worked out awesome and definitely help the aesthetics. If you run a torch slowly down the length of that twisted wire and get it good and hot as you go along, it will relax and lose that springiness it gets from the twisting. It makes it a lot easier to work with.
I love this one too man. Just doing the work w great music, a quick explanation and back to it. It’s almost like ASMR for me. If I wanted to start forging myself, can you do a video for beginners of a tool list and setup list?
Great work! I've been planning to make a similar sword, modeled after the one used by the character Ahmad Sanjar from the Turkish TV series Uyanis Buyuk Selcuklu. He was Sultan of the Seljuk Turks about the same time period when Troy fell. I'm glad I watched your video, so I'll have a headstart on the process! Next time you use twisted wire for a handle, try annealing the wire before you twist it, then anneal it again before you wrap the handle. If you start the twist with freshly annealed wire, it won't try to untwist itself. You'll need to polish it after you finish wrapping, but the whole process will go more easily with soft wire!
Technically, they are both considered "arc" welding, but you mean with a stick welder instead of mig. This is just an old video before I got my new 3-process welder. If you watch my more recent videos, I use both mig and tig. Thanks for watching, Robert.
interesting and glad to watch, how you made this by complicated process. Have you ever made and review all your tools, especially for merging the plate. Are you design your tools by your self?
One of my favorite parts of the historic builds is that if you took it back to that era it would be a weapon of legend. The technical limitations of the period couldn't come near modern steel.
I think that was really a fun project. And that fancy divider thingy was really cool as well. I didn't know they exist. Did you realize already on that project that it is more difficult to grind a longer blade?
At the time, this was twice as long as any blade I had previously done. It was really tough. Doing that transition from the edge near the ricasso to the main edge was really a pain in the ass! Thanks for watching.
You want the kerosene to seep between the layers. When it burns off it does leave a residue that prevents scale. It doesn’t affect the layers from forge welding. Thanks for watching, Joe.
This actually isn't pure copper wire, its just coated. If it was, I'd just coat the handle in a thin layer of clear enamel so it wouldn't oxidize. Thanks for watching.
