What do you think of the Ka-Bars? It's my first attempt at leather stacked handles. They certainly present their own challenges.
It's look cool 🥸
They look great!
@@GeyanSingh thanks for taking a look!
@@kayjim416 thanks for watching, Jay!
personally they're very well done and the Cu-Mai really gave it your signature look
I like how you're saying the line "I've never made a Ka-Bar before so we're gonna make three" even when you're giving them to someone else
Well if I’m gonna make one, might as well make three, right?! I actually had three Marines ask so why turn away the second two. Thanks for watching.
@@TyrellKnifeworks I appreciate the sentiment behind your choices ,
RUclips is on a roll recommending me small creators of high quality 👌🏼

Have you ever considered using those phlebotomist elastic tourniquets you can buy in bulk for when you have unique shapes to compress while resin sets?
24:29
Hmmm... maybe spinning grippy logs on a lathe is a bad idea... putting that one on the drawing board ..
25:25
Nice indeed.
Magnificent. I prefer a single piece for daily battle knife. And you will know how much beating Damascus will tolerate. My shotgun came apart a little. But it looks brilliant as you produced it. I would love to be the fortunate new owner getting one. Particularly the full size Ka bar.
Forget "Forged In Fire"!!! Absolutely excellent craftsmanship sir.
Thanks so much! I appreciate you watching!
All 3 came out absolutely perfect!
Those are definitely two lucky Devil Dog's.
I'm actually quite jealous at the moment.
Excellent job. Appreciate the content, the knowledge you possess and share with others.
Thanks for checking out the build! I appreciate you watching!
One of the best knives of all time. These blades will be cherished by those lucky few.
Thanks for checking out the build, Adam!
these knives are beautiful! i recently purchased a damascus blade from a local knifemaker, and i really love the way they look. nice job on everything that you do. i've been watching your videos for the past couple days while working out and they're really fun to watch. before this one, i watched the copper damascus katana one. you've earned yourself a sub. keep up the awesome work man :)
Welcome to the channel! Thanks for checking out the video library. 👍
This is the most boot non-boot thing I've seen all year
I’m not quite sure if that’s a good thing or not. Thanks for watching though. 😜
@@TyrellKnifeworks Boot means that they are highly into the military. It's just a term for people who put those stickers on their car. Mallninja but military if that makes any sense.
Those all turned out amazing. Love how the blades look like wavelength!
Thanks so much! Yes, the heartbeat patterns do come out quite nice I think.
Ya.....true beauty right!!!!!
As a Marine, I love these. I have a full-size Kabar myself and it's a great knife that works well. Yours would make a beautiful display. Thank you for the video. I know they are functional, but at the same time the pride of your craft has created a piece of art to be enjoyed for generations to come. I would buy two as a family heirloom for myself as well as my twin brother (also a Marine).
Thanks so much for checking out the build! And thank you and your brother for your service!
Damascus is only somewhat functional. It lacks strength by a lot and couldn't be used as you would a normal k bar.
@@sirsir9665 I’m not sure why you think that. The Damascus is as strong as it’s base metal. If you are referring to the copper layers, that’s just a think sheet over a 1095 high carbon steel core. The knife is very functional for sure.
@@sirsir9665 well you're just wrong.
Kex, my uncle is a Marine and he gave me a award he got ( I have it put up and can’t remember right off the top of my head what it is for) but it has a kbar attached to it and it’s cool as hell looking. I have a couple of them but that one obviously means the most.
Absolutely striking! Always look forward to a good damascus build, and for this one I particularly like how the cooper stood out so starkly against the steel! Beautiful work, sir! I look forward to the next one.
Thanks for checking out the build! Definitely check out the Elven sword build! 👍
I've been making Ka-Bars for a while and have tried various ways of gluing up and removing handles for grinding. I'm stealing your idea! Thank you for sharing! I find that the sharpie ink will bleed under sweat so I burn the leather with a propane torch and sand the remainder back down. Seems to work much better.
I’m glad you found the video helpful. Thanks for watching, Larry!
Use a round tip wood burner. Decrease sanding time.
Why not just use slightly smaller diameter leather bits for the grooves and then sand them smooth once it’s squished together?
My favorite part about forging Damascus steel is watching it squish like hot butter in the press. Excellent craftsmanship!
That is one of my favorite parts too! Thanks for watching, Tristen!
stunning work! The patterns on the knives are incredible!
Thanks for taking a look! I appreciate you watching.
Wow! These are gorgeous! Thank you for the idea you gave me to make something new in my shop 💝 I appreciate the knowledge you impart and thank you for the time you took to share it.
Thanks for watching, Hannah!
Absolutely beautiful work as usual. You are truly an artist with metal working
I appreciate the long video, I prefer a long single binge of awesome knife forging content!
Thanks for watching, Rory! I too like the single long video so I try to post both. 👍
What a fantastic job playing tribute to an iconic knife. Thank you again for such terrific build. Semper Fi
I'm glad you like it! Just gotta make a sheath for them and they'll go out soon! Thanks for the incentive to build these!
Those are the most beautiful blades I have ever seen! Fantastic work!!
Thanks for checking them out, Dan!
I find your voice so soothing. If I’m having trouble getting to sleep I just watch one of your videos. I love those copper knives you make. That one with the burl handle you did was the most beautiful knife I have ever seen.
Thanks for following the channel!
Beautiful artwork, just amazing with the copper in the mix. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for checking out the build!
Wow! You are very creative! These are beautiful knives. It’s really cool how you took a classic iconic knife and elevated it with better materials. I had the same idea , but with a Damasteel blade and timascus guard and end cap. Awesome work. Thank you
Thanks for checking out the build!
Wow, this video was incredibly well done. As were the knives, of course, absolutely stunning. I find it hard to believe you don't have more subscribers than you do, though I guess I can pitch in by giving you one more ; ). Keep up the incredible work, and happy new year!
Thanks so much, Ben! The channel is growing rapidly, so I’m pleased with that. Thanks and welcome!
those pieces were awe-inspiring the contrast between the blackened steel and the golden shiny of the copper were elegant
Thanks for taking a look! Stay tuned for the dagger challenge where I’ll be trying something nobody has done. 😜
Impressive artistry and craftsmanship! Those knives came out looking gorgeous!
Thanks for checking out this build, Henrik!
Wow! Those are the most beautiful knives I have seen made! You earned my sub for that one! Wish I was the proud owner. Great work and great video explanation of your process. Happy new year to you! Look forward to seeing some more of your projects! 👍🏻👍🏻
Welcome to the channel, Bret! New build videos every Sunday!
I was amazed also, I have never worked with metal forging and never knew this was possible,,,,,,very beautiful knives!!!!!
This is a perfect and beautiful knife.
The combination of steel and copper made it one of the most amazing knives I'd ever seen. You have never disappointed me with the work you have created.I'm from Thailand and I'm following your work.
I'm sorry if I use the wrong words because I'm not good at languages.
You're English is great, don't worry about that. Thanks for watching!
You are one of the best craftsmen and of course this is the only channel I subscribe to.
Thank you for this wonderful video clip and I love it so much.
Love your problem solving skills. Three beautiful knives. Well done sir!
Thanks so much, Tom! I appreciate you checking them out! 👍
the smallest one is the best looking knife i've ever seen. copper-damascus over black looks insane.
Thanks, I do like that one best too!
You are the reason that I'm now getting into bladesmithing. I've bought most of the materials to get a forge going and I hope to forge my first blade in about 2 months. (Hopefully I'll know how to move metal better than I do now.) Thank you for making a change in my life Tyrell, I can't thank you enough.
That is very amazing to hear! I’m so happy I could help and inspire you. Definitely check out my beginner series playlist if you haven’t already. Send me a pic for viewer knives! 👍
And of course on the day I get the forge finished it decides to put 12 inches of snow on the ground. I haven't been able to take it out of my garage because it is a coal forge. I'm not going to use it inside because I don't want to breathe in the smoke/fumes from the burning coal.
@@Asmith-1111 yeah, probably not a good idea to use it in the garage. Snow shouldn’t stop you though. 😜
First time watching, long time crafting enthusiast. What's your take on coreless Damascus?
Beautiful pieces! Great methods! Def got another subscriber!
Welcome to the channel, DJ! Coreless Damascus can only be fine in a factory from what I’ve read. I don’t know much about it, strength or performance-wise. I do plan to make some stainless Damascus at some point though.
I would never want any of these knives as actual field knives, but they are gorgeous. This is the art of knife-making. That being said, a straight up "normal" Kabar makes a wonderful field knife.
Whatever turns you on, Juan
Beautiful knives! Great work and great video explanation of your process. Happy new year to you! Look forward to seeing some more of your projects!
Thanks for checking these out, Gil!
I could never 'use' these as I'd hate to spoil their beauty. I know knives are tools but these are art.
Thanks for checking out the build!
they look great, I really enjoyed watching the whole process 👌🏻
Thanks for watching the build!
Those were absolutely amazing! Nice work!
Thanks for checking out the build, Bobby!
Nice work! Beautiful finish product and great craftsmanship. The copper was a unique and beautiful touch
Thanks for checking these out, Mark!
I keep watching this video!! And I’m blown away by the finished product! I’m not a rich man but would pay good money for this knife hands down! I’m amazed!!!
Thanks for checking these out, Marlon! Sorry, they are all sold already.
I have owned a KaBar full for half of my life and they're quite fun. I have to say, the knives in this video are among the most beautiful I've ever seen.
Thanks so much, Parker! I appreciate you taking a look!
@Tyrell Knifeworks your work is amazing man, I've been out of the shop for 3 years(cancer is a bitch) these vids help me stay happy, thank you.
I've had my ka-bar for 10 years only sharpened it twice 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
They all look awesome, I especially love the small one with the "eye" in the fuller. I would love one like that. Each one is unique. Thumbs up!
Thanks so much for checking out the build!
Outstanding work coupled with clear naration and free tutorage. You are a true artisan, an absolute master of the craft and a wonderful human being. Thanks so much, your work is utterly inspiring.
Thanks so much, Dave! I appreciate you checking them out!
You explain things well sir . All the videos on knives I ve watched never been so well explained . 👍👍
Thank you! I’m glad the explanations are helpful. 👍
Wow!! No words. I just sat and watched you build them piece by piece for almost an hour. Then the final reveal I cant even describe how beautiful they turned out.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you watching and checkout out the build! 👍🏻
Great job, man. Beautiful blades. You're the man.
Thanks so much for checking out the build! 👍
Those are some gorgeous knives. Never thought of copper being incorporated into other materials. Great work
Thanks for checking out the build! ❤️
You make it look so easy to change a welded billet into restack. I know there is so much more to make any knife. Very well done youtube IMHO. Thanks for the excellent narration.
Thanks so much, Jaack! I appreciate you following along. 👍
When I See This 3 Ka-Bar style survival knives I had to say it had to be one of the most intriguing videos I've seen in quite some time and can't wait to see how they turn out! Honestly excited to see the end product

You make great looking knives. ..and I think the best part is when you put on your maker's mark. The shark logo.
Thanks for checking out the build, Michael!
These KA BARS are absolutely gorgeous! What a knife master! Bravo! 👏
Thanks for checking out this build.
I love how you took a super over produced/mass produced knife like the KA-BAR and made it into something that's so unique and took so much effort to create! What a love song to the USMC staple! BRAVO!
Thanks for checking these out. I hope it’s a tribute to our armed forces. 👍
Well done, sir! Looks stunning! The look of the classic KaBar is so iconic, but yours have an artistic custom look that makes a person want to stare at it for hours!

beautiful work from a true grandmaster of his craft :)
Thanks so much! I appreciate you watching!
Top 5 prettiest blades I've ever seen, hands down!
Thanks so much, Nicke! I appreciate you taking a look. 👍
just a little advice from an old machinist. Keep the working end of your stock as clos as you can to your chuck in the lathe. It will prevent damage and serious injury. If it doesn't fit through the chuck , just cut shorter pieces. It will also prevent chatter. Love your work, well done
I didn’t want to have to move the stock after each pommel, hence the stick-out. I had the tail stock on it as well. Thanks for watching
Your skill is immensely impressive. Beautiful work!
Thanks so much, Scott! I appreciate you taking a look
Awesome design love the cooper inlay on them
