That's the biggest problem with social media the dishonesty in posting things. And probably 90% of all people accept as gospel. Then spread the lie to their page. I almost always check every post and more than half the time it's a lie. Good job Jen

Id bet you, they know its false, but they don't care. the way I see it is its not about right or wrong in tell to the topic. its how can we make the other side look bad. I mean what happened to following the things that are right and not bad. as she said they have a problem with this topic but not the one in Cal. What's worse is that social media websites generally side with these dishonest people, and then censor and silence the voices that try to correct them. They're effectively being locked into echo chambers of disinformation by the very networks they use to spread such lies.
Don't forget that social media algorithms are designed to side with and promote dishonesty while silencing the challengers to it.
Seriously though. I'm nine weeks pregnant and my father in law met his birth mother for the first time a month or so ago.
They learned part of the reason he was given up was because it wasn't a consensual relationship. (She wanted to try to be a single mother but her dad strongly recommended the adoption route)
Due to this coming to light my trans brother in law started up an argument for abortion. (Again his mom wanted to keep him. And has expressed how healing it's been meeting my father in law and knowing he lived a good life.)
My brother in law starts spitting out all the lies of "its harmless" "if I was from a non consensual relationship I would want to be aborted. Not that it's bad you weren't dad" "lives are at risk from pregnancy" "it's only happening from cases of grape" and "its ALWAYS in the early stages of pregnancy anyways."
I was in the other room taking care of my 3 year old when I heard all this ignorance pouring out of his mouth.
If he took TWO seconds to actually look it up he would find NONE OF IT TO BE TRUE.
And I got very defensive because essentially what he was saying is MY baby that I'm currently pregnant with has no value. And if I loose this baby (I'm high risk for late term miscarriages) it doesn't matter because my baby was "never alive"
I get the feeling this kinda stuff is just going to get worse in the run up to the November election.

So the original poster didnt lie. The GOP did "propose" the initial bill but it just didnt "pass" 0:35. "Opponents said it could open up the possibility of child marriage" Even the amended bill was not passed but a new bill does contain an age restriction.

FYI, California did not lower the age of consent for sodomy, anymore than Tennessee passed a bill allowing for underage Common Law Marriages.
What California did was add same sex encounters to what are referred to as Jack and Jill laws. The law in many States, including California, recognizes there is a difference between a 19 year old and a 16 year old having a sexual encounter, and a 30 year old and a 16 year old engaging in the same sexual encounter. So, the law is written in a manner that it is not statutory rape, if the sexual encounter was both otherwise consensual and the age gap between the participants is X number of years, and the minimum age of the lowest age person is 15 or higher.
When these laws were first amended, same sex encounters were not included, so an act of sodomy between a male and a female could be legal, but sodomy, where people are the exact same age, between two males would be illegal.
California simply included same sex under the same protections and male and female sexual encounters.
Sounds like if people can’t report a full story, then TikTok should go away.

Why do I feel like the original bill used the laws that are already on the books for age of consent since it didn't mention it. I mean that would make sense. If you can't legally get married why would you be able to come and log get married? But hey they put in an age restriction anyway. No such thing as common law marriage, if you not married by a minister or priest or a justice of peace from court house then you're not married period!

Common law is not affected by statutes or codes, which is all Congress can create. So the whole thing is a moot point anyway.
The PROBLEM with common law is that if a man rents several rooms in his house to female students, after a period of time they can all claim common law marriage to him which makes him guilty of polygamy. Sadly, there is no defense of this for men in court and he will be charged and found guilty even though he is not married to any of theses 'women'. (But, what IS a woman anyway??)

Honestly, this alone just bugs the fuck out of me. We need to return to the days when schools taught that you can't believe everything you see online. Did nobody else learn that? When I was younger, we were told "don't put your personal information on the internet", "wikipedia is a source that can be edited by anyone and is thus NOT an acceptable source to cite" and "you can't believe everything you see on the internet" as well as, "NEVER take someone's word for anything, ALWAYS do your own research". Also, I was taught not to make snap judgments when I don't have all the facts. If a situation is such that I cannot determine the entire situation, then I have no right to be making any kind of judgement about it! Sheeple! I'm. So. Freaking. Tired. Of. SHEEPLE.
It doesn’t have age within the bill because the law already established the age requirement for marriage. The fact that they posted the headline shows that they don’t know the age requirement for marriage in the state already.

The article was not wrong. By your own words, the bill had no minimum age requirement. It was ammended for this afterwards. Also, its a bill, if it passed it would be a law.
Unless it explicitly repealed the existing law, it would have rested on the existing law that had age requirements.
