      I would say a good chunk of pushup variations are pretty impressive. I caught a girl staring when I was doing archer pushups, and a old guy and a guy who looked fitter than me said it was impressive when I was doing diamond pushups.

      K Jax well say

    • @DDB-91
      @DDB-91 6 лет назад +131

      K Jax - Finally, somebody who has some sense and actual genuine reason to train. If you train for women then you need to re-evaluate your priorities.

    • @DDB-91
      @DDB-91 6 лет назад +30

      Matt - I have a fiance whom I have 2 children with and have lived with for the last 6 years. I plan to marry this woman and spend the rest of my life with her. Impressing other women is completely off my agenda and has been since the day I got with my girl. I'm 5'9 171 lbs at 8-9% bodyfat, if I take my top off, a lot of people stare at me, male and female, yet I RARELY go shirtless. That's because I train for me, for my body and for my mind. I don't even do it for my fiance so for other women? Lol.

    • @DDB-91
      @DDB-91 6 лет назад +15

      Matt - Also, you clearly don't get the point. If your main reason to train is to impress other people, and not for your own benefits and purposes then you have no reason to be training in my opinion.

    • @DDB-91
      @DDB-91 6 лет назад +13

      Matt - Yeah, you get 1 shot at life, so why waste it being concerned about what others think about you? Lol. I literally train for the discipline of the sport and the health benefits so I'm around for my kids a little longer than an unhealthy guy is.
      I just see it as sad that people actually put blood sweat and tears into their training just to be noticed by other people.

      it's not really a high-level move
      human flag is one of the most efficient moves when it comes to impressiveness: it doesn't take that much work to learn as one would think, but it looks unreal for non calisthenics people

    • @beastgangster7
      @beastgangster7 6 лет назад +18

      Similar to the elbow level there is an easier version of the flag pole that you jab your elbow into your hip and you balance. And still looks impressive. It's also super easy

Everyone else was doing half reps and couldn't do nearly as much reps as I. Then after, some guys from the football team asked me if I wanted to come lift with them.

    I'm all for mastering calisthenics but the day you train to impress a woman is the day you fail.

    • @JailanSimon
      @JailanSimon 6 лет назад +295

      Hench Crustacean I think we all have our reasons for working out. For some it’s getting the ladies. If it’s effective then so be it

    • @DDB-91
      @DDB-91 6 лет назад +222

      Jailan Simon - You should train for yourself, nobody else. If you have to train to get a woman's attention then your already extremely insecure. As I said, the day you start training to get womens attention is the day you train to fail. Do it for yourself, your own drive to be better for yourself should be all the motivation you need. Period.

    • @DDB-91
      @DDB-91 6 лет назад +60

      Marko G - Exactly brother! You train for your own satisfaction. If you get women from it, that's a bonus. Never make impressing women your goal though because it is superficial and absolutely meaningless. Calisthenics/weight training should be a journey that you explore for yourself, yeah you can train with other people and you may end up with a good physique, but it's about the self discipline and determination, not trying to get 1 or 2 girls to look at you at the beach.

    • @pr0l0gue
      @pr0l0gue 6 лет назад +9

      Hench Crustacean Damn straight. That's the truth. Everyone is imperfect and unpredictable, so it doesn't make sense to invest your ego and identity into the _idea_ of someone that you estimate based on the _outward signals_ you get from their 1-dimensional perception of you. You just _become_ that one person you'd do anything for unconditionally, the only one who you need to impress. You establish that validation-independent mentality, and it's a thousand times better than waiting for a fickle stranger's validation of your effort

Some girl friends reshared my Facebook post doing it (#pushupchallenge). Kinda flattered since one of them genuinely said will welcome me to visit her country one day (as a friend).
    Then the week after I can do Superman push-ups (huge thanks to Austin's tutorial vid!). Then the next week I can touched my feet while 'levitating', and can did half perfect Kuki! Maybe this weekend I can execute a perfect Kuki (thanks to Austin again!!)

    Anyone who's reading this, I started my calisthenics journey 3 weeks ago. I'm following a program and I'm planning on starting to train very basic skills at week 12. I've got a lot of equipment at home and I've got a very small calisthenics park like 20 minutes from me. My question is, after I achieved basic strength, what skills do I train first? Front lever? Planche? Handstand? I'm taking my journey very seriously and I'm doing everything at my own pace. I'm thinking about practicing frog stands so that I can upgrade to handstand later on

    • @stavrosvasilios8307
      @stavrosvasilios8307 5 лет назад

      Hey man, it's really up to you what skill you want to train for. I'd recommend only really focusing on one big skill in addition to all your normal training so you can really target it well and develop it. Simply enough if you practice it and work at it you will get better. Some skills like planche and front lever take up to a year to learn and maybe more, but don't think of it just that way. Along the way to full planche you'll still have the amazing milestones of a tuck planche, adv tuck, tuck planche push ups, straddle, and so on. Whatever skill makes you the most excited and passionate about training is what you should go for.

      I started doing that some 12 years ago for the very same reason. I wasn't weak though but not very strong either. I had very low fat amount which made me look skinny. Gym was the option but those who often subtly teases won't to gym either, so I too up calisthenics and kept challenging myself. I didn't have RUclips or internet then otherwise I won't have made many mistakes and would have been quite ahead from now. But yes, im definitely way stronger and still lean than almost all those who were bigger than. So young man...if you genuinely want to get stronger..push up and pull ups with variations is key to build a strong foundation and the built you will make will be better and functional than those who rely only on weights.
