- Soundproofing a motorhome
In this video, I soundproof the dash of a Hymer B644. The engine is literally in the cab so the noise can be tremendous. Using some stick-on soundproofing made a big difference. Those long journeys have become a lot more bearable.
Took a full two days work to do this but in my opinion well worth it.
Here are some affiliate links to the materials used in this video;
Soundproofing tiles - amzn.to/2VpAcBX (I used two of these)
Soundproofing sheet - cant get the same stuff as I used but this one is very similar - amzn.to/2w2X4w6
This video just saved me! Have just bought a 564 from 94 and my only concern was the sound level up front. Will for sure use this as a guide.
Some feedback (hope you don’t mind). Would have been nice to see how you measured everything e.tc. And also to hear the sound before you did the proofing. But overall a big thanks from Sweden! 🙏
Feedback always welcome. Measurements would have been useful - that's a good point. The sound level is difficult to get across in a vid but we did go from shouting at each other to being able to have a conversation without getting a sore throat😀. By modern-day standards, it's still loud but not hearing damage loud. It used to be almost unbearable.
Thank you Sweden 👍
Excellent job....need to get round to this on my 89 b564 ..wife will not entertain a trip away until I resolve the third person in the conversation problem
Made a big difference to us. We can talk during a drive now, amazing 👍
Good work! I found carpet underlay three layers thick on top helped. Still noisy beasts though!
Underlay is a good idea.
Putting some noise proofing on the firewall did make a difference. You still know the engines running but can have a conversation without loosing our voices 😊
where did you buy the mats
Now I just understanding old Hymers seen like million teddy bears and orher stuff lying on that front sunbed (dashboard)! They are trying to reduce engine noise and other loose parts rattle! 🤣
How do you keep you're weight down. Wat is the max load of the b644
Have same model as yours and ripping most of interior down as well and re covering. Replacing headlights and putting power steering in as well but electric not old type.
Brilliant. Sounds like you will be busy. Hope it all goes well 👍
@@classicmotorhomeowner4055 Yes I will be but really glad I found your posts its been very helpful the van has dry rot so most of the paneling has been removed now but will be working after lock down. The big shock was the state of the engine cover but now been sorted.
