Absolutely not medieval. More romantic classical period (middle of 19th century) and beginning of modernism (end of 19th century) And lute is not medieval but barocco. For exemple the lute pieces from Bach (go see it on youtube). If you wnat to hear real medieval music go search "Je vivroie liement Guillaume de Machaux" still on youtube.

Alex Mallett start off with an easier song, other show theme songs are a lot easier to learn, like the Gravity Falls theme song is a pretty easy but fun finger picking song to learn. For a full song, a slightly harder but still kind of easy song to learn is XO by EDEN, it’s finger picking and it’s really fun to play. I hope this helps
