@@Rickmakes I'm glad to hear that. With the Prusa Mini the problem also existed. I had seen this with someone on youtube. Until the firmware was adapted so that the filament was first extruded a little through the hotend and then retracted. Many greetings juck.
I preheated my extruder, pushed out 20mm so I can get to the settings to push out the old filament. Pushed it out and got the new roll in within 1 minute because of this tip. It was my first time changing filament so thank you so much!
I just received my Q5 so your video was helpfull to me . Can you explain what you do when you finish printing , take out the filament as in your video #3.10 minutes ?
This is how I currently remove the filament. I want the hot end heated up so if I am not there when the print is finishing, I'll reheat it. Once up to temperature, I'll pull the lever on the extruder and manually push some of the filament through the nozzle. Then I'll reverse and pull the filament all the way out. This makes for a nice "break". I then switch off the printer.
Just upgraded my Q5 extruder to a Micro-Swiss dual gear. I got tired of that garbage Q5 extruder that is noisy, hard to load and unload, and unreliable. Retractions with the new extruder are 3.5, so a fortunate benefit of the upgrade is that the Q5 is now virtually silent when printing and does not jerk around like crazy with those 8mm retractions! I highly recommend the M-S extruder if you're in the market for an upgrade.
Thanks for the recommendation! I've been hesitant thus far to upgrade because I don't want to potentially break it. To be more clean, I think I need to buy a second printer as a backup while I work on the first. ;)
@@Rickmakes The upgrade is extremely straight forward. He's my video with a couple of helpful tips. Plus you can see/hear how much quieter it is. ruclips.net/video/ASKNvEZVt8g/видео.html

Hi neb I've notice my filement started coming out to thick I changed filement coming on to 1m should this be higher what was coming out was almost the size of the filement can anyone advise me
Hello,
change Filament manual.
Push the Filament for 2 seconds in the hot hotend and then remove it fast.
No blobs anymore!
Did that on a recent change. It worked well for me. Thank you for the tip!

@@222dillon I've been using this technique since it was shared here and it has been working great. I'm glad you found it too.

Have you checked to see if the nozzle is worn out?
