      In a large prison that would be an expensive fix. Not only the price of purchasing the electronics but also the price for constant replacement. Prisoners break whatever they can in prison just because.

    This is why paper products including mail must be completely eliminated from prisons. Any communications and reading materials should be strictly electronically through cheap, bare-bones tablets or E-readers.

    • @Chuck-mm2yp

      What would that bill look like to purchase all those tablets and E-readers? Also the price for replacing damaged devices, because some prisoners will break them just because they can.

    • @megacide84
      @megacide84 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@jlv3x Many places such as Alibaba sell those things wholesale. We're talking cheap basic tablets here. Not top of the line iPads. The prison buys them in bulk but marks up the price per tablet for individual purchase. In the end, the prison would break even. It would be far worth it considering the savings on resources and manpower going through loads of physical mail and paper reading materials on a regular basis.

    • @Chuck-mm2yp
      @Chuck-mm2yp 11 месяцев назад +5

      The prisons already got tablets. Inmates buy them for $130 in federal prison and other prisons let inmates check them out with prison I.D and if that prisoner breaks it then they pay for it or get in trouble if they don't pay.

    • @freedumbfromtheleft3833
      @freedumbfromtheleft3833 11 месяцев назад

      Because back then it was basically LSD & acid, which wasn't a big deal because there was a limited number of inmates who were in to that (using it.) The popular drugs such as, cocaine, weed, heroine, etc, was brought in by other means, like visitation, guards, jail employees, and outside contract workers, ect. There was an investigation that found out that visitors (jn certain divisions) would hide contraband in the visitors washrooms, (tape stuff under things, ect) and hours later, even a day or two, certain low risk inmates (usually doing county time, a year or less) would be used as "workers" for many different jobs under lax supervision.
      These inmates would be compensated by some inmate(s) to retrieve the package, and from there this contraband would easily be distributed throughout every division.

    No one should break tha law but putting them in this kind of place with those conditions should be against tha law itself. It was designed to make you plea guilty every time, why do you think prison is better than here ? New form of slavery, we still have not let go of that thinking

    Easy solution: only let inmates recieve post cards instead of letters. Any post cards that are stained or discolored get returned to sender, dispose of or investigated further. Change your policies! Not hard. My jail only allows inmates to recieve post cards. Don't have this problem here.

      @@Donor14 I've known a lot of people who've been to prison and jail. White collar federal crimes to drug dealers to violent offenders. I can promise you that all of them knew how to read. Some of them had IQ's over 130. One has to be incredibly sheltered to think people behind bars can't read, lol. It's pretty funny actually, thanks for he laugh 🙂

    well if they are getting high that is a good thing keeps them mellow they should let them grow weed and smoke it and sell it to pay for the prison instead of our tax dollars.prisons could make a lot of money selling weed.

      Such old news and they do scan mail to my knowledge why is it a big deal all of a sudden some one not doing there job or shortstaffed or they just don’t give a damn all prison facilities especially private facilities in Colorado we have a couple of them here that I’m aware of and what a shame the workers are the main reason the inmates overdose the main reason drugs are in those facilities sad but speaking facts
