I was in division 9 back in 2008 and I was the only white non gang affiliated person on my deck. We called the basketball court the bird cage.
To a degree is disturbing how self-aware they are and how they had to allow themselves to become so desensitized to their environment on order to survive. Brutally honest, but for many of them they don't have the answer on what to do but they know what's the problem.
Like the man says, all boys need a father that wants us to succeed in life.
It's amazing how much difference having the care and discipline of a proper dad will have on a child's life.
So to all of the young gangstas who think that having a child who you can't support, is a sign of your manhood and is something to be proud of,, and to all of the young women who think that they will be able to bring up a family without the support of the father, get a grip on your selves.
Otherwise you are just adding to the number of lost boys, and dead or imprisoned niggas with no future or who have no direction in their lives.

There are bars on the windows but a revolving door on the front. Most get out go right back in... These guys say they've learned by being locked up but most crime is all they know so that's what they go back to doing.

I wonder if going there on Father's Day was the point? I guess it was. David Wilcox has published books and studies that deal directly with the importance of fathers. Some of the statistics regarding children who grow up without fathers are absolutely heartbreaking.

"Lack of education". Is it not mandatory for all kids to be enrolled in a school? You cannot legally drop out until you are in high school. Something tells me these individuals, who say they are disenfranchised, actually pissed away the opportunity when they were in school. Now they are complaining that teacher's didn't MAKE them care when they had the chance.
If you knew anything about most inner city schools you would know that even if they did go to school AND participated they would still have a lack of education because they aren’t really being taught anything expect how to pass standardized tests so the government will fund the school. Cookie cutter education. If you put the curriculum of those schools side by side with the schools in the rich areas it like night and day!
God has nothing to do with this... not having a father and that's why your in jail. IT WAS THE CHOICES THAT YOU MADE THAT GOT YOU THERE. HANGING OUT WITH THE WRONG CROWD.
Guy was speaking truth. I was beginning a life of crime. Father wasn't there growing up. Hate building in my heart. I grew up and told myself either you change or you gonna end up in the prison system.

Good parent-figures in the life to steer kids is absolutely critical. You'll always have a fraction of kids that steer wrong regardless. However, many of these kids grow up with negative influence that confuse their souls at a very vulnerable time in their lives. For all the negative comments below, none of you are analytical and appreciate what you have. White kids may not have fathers but their environment is more drugs in their neighborhood. Instead of gangs being around them, they go a different direction. These kids grow up in a different neighborhood and with different influences.

First the European settlers aka white settlers in America are officially "Americans". They are officially something different from us white folk still here in Europe and from the settlers in Australia. They are "Americans". This show's name is "Americans ... " It's about America or Australia. That's interesting. I'm interested in my people living on those better landmasses.
Then, secondly, suddenly non-whites are Americans too. People who don't live in America because their ancestors emigrated from here to America are recognised as Americans, too. All the while I don't have access to America and to Australia. For more than 6 decades they've made emigration for Europeans hard. No real chances anymore, only mock opportunities.
Now I see many of those non-whites are in jail. I hear some people say, it's because they're more criminal. It's in their blood to be more criminal, they say.
Fine if they live in my country while I'm locked out of that part of my country, they don't need to run around free. It shall be a delight to me to see they're not free.
